    I am working up a description for this nice Mickey Mouse daily from 1963 by Floyd Gottfredson that has been buried in my attic for twenty years.

    from Bill Blackbeard in The Comic-Book Book (1973):   "Easily ranking with the half-dozen finest new comic-strip artists to emerge from the 1930s"  and "..until Max Willis, a Hollywood writer and book dealer, penetrating the veil of secrecy at last some six years ago, sought out and identified the extraordinary Floyd Gottfredson." 

    Frame opening pics added.  Attached lightly with two pieces of framer's adhesive cloth hinge on reverse of mat.

    Here's a June 1954 full month of Minneapolis Star newspapers with a line-up of daily comic strips including Tracy, Abner, Peanuts, much more!

    Wertham hearing article, McCarthy "have you no decency", Guatemala takeover, Oppenheimer, movies (THEM!), etc.  Very attractive library volume in enclosed binding.

    No Sunday newspapers as bound, hence no color comics.  Daily comics include early Peanuts, details to follow.

    Ted Williams came close, earning $90,000 in 1950 and 1951, but his salary declined thereafter. (from the internet)

    Which puts this right around 1950.  I don't have any other insight on this piece, but I think that is my writing "Swann's" on the reverse which was a personal note while I was trying to figure it out before reselling it on ebay, IIRC.  A few years ago.  Don't remember where I got it, sadly, probably ebay wrong category pick-up.  If anyone has access to ebay archives, I would have likely listed it as an unknown artist tryout strip under original comic strip art category, an authentic period piece. likely unpublished.  Best wishes, David

    USPS appears to have lost my Registered package

    Hi, 

    Sorry to hear about your lost book.  I worked at the USPS for nearly 25 years.  Registered Mail does, indeed, have a paper trail of signatures and is technically secure at all times during the handling of your package.  This means that when something goes missing, they can narrow down the possibilities more quickly.

    If your customer concerns linger on, I'd encourage you to contact the Postal Inspection Service directly.  It is their job to get to the bottom of this type of occurrence.

    At the distribution center where I worked, there was a case of theft by the actual Registered Mail clerk, who was fired.  But, they caught him, and I guess there is a good chance the losses were made as whole as practical.  

    It sounds like your book may be lost, but you will likely be compensated with all the saved documentation.  And maybe another criminal will be offered rehabilitation due to your efforts.
