  1. Apologies if this has been asked on the boards before - I can't find the thread.

    So what's the best way?

    The best way?

Depends on the era of book, and type of CT applied.

SA can be totally different the GA due to inks, coverstock, and gloss.

Was it topically applied with s brush? Or colored in with maker? Or pencil?

Most of the time, if you hold a comic off angle, under a decent light source you will find CT stands out as you move the comic around.

As mentioned already, comics are printed in a manner that makes hand applied CT recreation impossible. All one can hope to do is mimic the intended color, and fool the eye. It looks muddy compared to original dot matrix.

As Roy said, once you get used to seeing CT, it stands out. Some worse then others.

All depends on the level, and type of CT applied.

Bleed through obviously being very easy to detect.

As Roy said, CT is like porn. When you see it, you know it.

Or maybe he didn't say that exactly.

The best way is to find an expert who can teach you.

  2. From what I know he is only signing the HC and is not taking commissions, as there is going to be an exhibition and sale of his original art as well during the signing. His last con is this weekend at NC Comicon. You can always e-mail him, but don't expect a quick response. Best bet is to ask him about it on his twitter account. Looking forward to the signing party hope some other boardies make it out.

If some one could post pictures of the exhibition that would be awesome! :cloud9::foryou:

What time Dec 1/2 is Jeremy going to be there? I didn't see it on the site.

  3. When making an offer via PM, in addition to my offer, I like to make mention that my offer is good til or expires at such and such a time. I dont want to make any offer and days elapse and without warning a seller may say okay its a deal/ pay me (stops me from buying something else). I think its wise to add a time to your offer, not to pressure a seller, but to move things along and make clear that offer is not binding if a seller doesnt respond or even check messeges for that matter after a noted time. Comments?

That seems like a perfectly acceptable practice.

That is smart, I like it.

I think it is a good idea as well, but I can see someone treating it as a coercion technique (getting upset when they see the "you have 48 hours to decide or my offer is null and void"). Is there a general rule for how long a PM offer is valid?

  4. Actually I remember Secret Wars #8 being the first time the Symbiote was introduced, then ASM #252

    Chronologically it was ASM 252.

    Continuity it would be SW8

ASM #252 was first. Then you had to wait till Secret Wars #8 to find out how it happened.

    Dan

Thats why I said Chronologically and continuity

I know. I was just describing what it was like as a kid to find out Spidey had a new suit and to not know how or why.

  5. Just read it and was definitely let down. Honestly, it couldn't live up to the hype but I was expecting something more from a comic with 16 variants. I went to a little Walking Dead party an lcs threw around here from 10pm to midnight. That was fun, at least.

I am Walking Deaded out. Time to take a break. It hasn't really been enjoyable to me for years. I had seen glimpses of its greatness but it just isn't doing it for me anymore.

I figured out what caused the original walker outbreak:

Everyone trying to pick up all the Walking Dead 100 variants

  6. You get the comic at the end of the run at the "quarantine" area. I thought I would have to do the run while carrying it, I would just tap out and go home

    lol

I'm running with a group of 4 survivors on Friday. We're in the 1:00 group. Looking forward to it, hope it's fun and not a let-down.

:applause: It will be my job to make sure you don't get your variants...

just kidding of course I'm not.

  7. Kindness like anything else takes work. It's just like going to the gym. You have to work on it or you get flabby.

Kindness is a trait. Something that is a characteristic of a person's nature - which cannot be taught, learned or practiced.

You don't work on being kind, you are either kind, or unkind. And yes, dickism is a trait of the internet - that's just the way it goes. Use the 'ignore' feature here and enjoy yourself.

Balls, I agree with you most of the time. I don't on this one. You most certainly can become kinder, more compassionate, friendlier, more outgoing through hard work and conditioning, despite the fact that you may not be naturally any of the above.

I will cut and past from another discussion on the same topic:

    ...

That is not kindness. That is simply choosing to do what others deem acceptable out of fear of rejection, reprisal or some other negative reaction. Kindness is a virtuous trait that is a culmination of an ingrained core of values that are part of our personal beliefs, ideas and opinions. While those things may change - a persons core character does not change.

I think we are going way off topic here, but it sounds like you are stating that a core character is made up of personal beliefs, ideas, and opinions. If your personal beliefs, ideas, and opinions can change, why not your ingrained core of values. If I practice kindness for whatever reason, why would that not change who I am as a person if I come to believe that being kind is better than being a bully?
