If they think someone *else* will pay $200 a book then sure. :)

Again though, I think this will live and die as a single item, and as such it's such an odd item that it's hard to even guess at a value. You may be right that bidders will evaluate as you did above, to the detriment of the sale price. But Heritage has gotten higher-than-expected prices before for all kinds of stuff, and it wouldn't shock me if there are dedicated GA bound volume collectors out there. Who knows.

Yup.  it might end up being an auction situation - crazy things can happen - both good and bad.

That's fair enough, you may be right. The biggest problem I think is that the trimming is so severe, even by the rather relaxed standards of bound volumes. With some volumes it makes sense to break them up and there's value in the potential to do so. But here the most key issues are very flawed. The #17 is particularly hard-hit with the trim, and would not look appealing outside the volume.

    Agree completely.

If one asks oneself  - what would they bring individually if not bound and in the same condition?  Would someone pay $100 a book?

A fun item indeed! I, myself, have quite a few bound volumes. I like the unique factor as well as being able to read consecutive issues easily and for a much lower cost.

They have picked up in interest. Yours appear pretty low grade and fragile. As was said, no key issues. But still unique and very collectible.

They have minimal value if separated from the book so I would not consider it. I would place micro chamber paper liberally through the book to prevent further detoriation.

I would try HA or CC depending on who offers you the best deal. I have no idea on value. I might add up the individual issues in fair condition and come up with a total that way.

Either way, congrats on a fun find!

I don't think that them being bound adds any value whatsoever.  They appear to be just random issues bound together.

When I was a kid in the 70s I loved two Gold Key comics: Turok, because I was a dinosaur nut, and UFO OUTER SPACE, because I was also super into UFOs. I managed to compile a full run of UFO FLYING SAUCERS/UFO OUTER SPACE comics some years ago, but the original art has proven very hard to come by. I've seen a few covers listed on CAF but usually in "I used to own this" files. Finally I was able to pick up an original painted cover to an issue I vividly remember having as a kid that explored the whole "ancient astronauts" theory that was popular in the 70s. Here's the painted cover along with the published cover, so you can see how much more vivid the colors are on the original.

Oh and if anyone has any more UFO Flying Saucers/Outer Space art, whether for sale or not, do let me know! I'd love to hear what's out there. Thanks!

I would recommend sending it to Heritage as GA books usually have a wider viewership there and tend to sell better.

Not sure how many exact issues are in the volume but there are no major keys in there. The condition isn't that great either. Would say a rough valuation around 6 to 10k. Bound volumes are not in demand except for completists or if there were key issues in the volumes.

There's no way that this will fetch anywhere near $6 - $10K - these books appear to be a random lot of Batman comics bound together.  Neither the comics or the book are in very good shape.  The comics have multiple defects not to mention whether or not they are all complete.

I think that even Point Five's estimate is high.  If they break a grand I'd be shocked.

Wanted a non male movie nerd opinion of this show.

Typed "Marvels review" into Youtube and watched the first video that came up that was a female reviewer (skipped the blonde with the chalkboard voice).

    This is just...yikes.

Here's the précis of this 8+ minute review:  Fool me once shame on you.  Fool me twice shame on me.

Paraphrasing, I followed the Who's advice:  "I won't get fooled again!"

Just shocking.  A character no one really cared about except when they teased her at the end of Infinity war and kept talking about how she'd have a big part in Endgame....which leads to her first movie (which was horrible) being successful because insufficiently_thoughtful_persons like me believed them when they said she'd have a big part in Endgame. Too bad they can't use that same trick for this one (they can but no one really cares about the Avengers movie coming out).  What makes it even better is they're putting in Khamala Khan who had by far the lowest numbers of any + show in this like she will bring people out to see this.  Sorry I'm still ticked off I used my hard earned money to watch Captain Marvel.....it was so bad.

It was on TV here a few nights ago.  I watched the start of it and...yup...it was just as bad as I remember it.  What a horrible waste of time and money.  Is there a worse MCU movie?

The only thing that I took from it was how Nick Fury's eyes patch cam to be.   :tonofbricks:

I've owned 3 (8.5, 4.5 and a low grade copy). Aside from your book I have only ever seen another very low grade copy that was torn up. The Cap #74 is even rarer, only seen 2 copies on the market and maybe another copy that is posted on the Grandcomic database?

Cap 74 - also a great book with a great story - one of the best of the Golden Age.

  9. I was wondering just a day ago when we were going to see the next con report(s) from The Leader.  I now have my answer.  Bang up job as usual!

I absolutely have to get to the Baltimore Con next year!!!  Is it worth it - those that attend??

I used to own a Turok wilson cover, but it left long ago. PLEASE keep posting pics. Threads are worthless without them…well maybe not worthless but not nearly as interesting. I love those Scooby covers! I’ve been looking for one of those over the years but never found one. I just bought a couple more Gold Key covers so I will post soon.

Which Turok cover did you own?  Any photos of it?  I maintain a list of all Turok cover paintings known to exist meaning that I'm always eager to add new ones.  :)
