From March 28:
https://www.thrillist.com/entertainment/nation/brian-k-vaughan-interview-saga-issue-50
With Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s plans to adapt Invincible and a few reports of you writing a Silver Surfer movie, has anyone come to you recently and asked about doing an adaptation of Saga?
Vaughan: Pretty much every day for the last six years, yeah.If you had to pick a medium, which makes the most sense to you: a big budget film, a television adaptation or a mature animated series in the vein of Netflix’s Castlevania?
Vaughan: I know this is a buzzkill of an answer, but I’m grateful that Fiona and I don’thave to pick any of those. Our goal was always to make a great comic -- not a stepping stone to help us reach some other medium -- and I like to think our story is so immersive, not in spite of the fact that it’s just static words and pictures, but because of it. Our readers are our collaborators, and they’re the ones who work hard to make this story come alive in their imaginations. I guess Fiona and I are both open to the possibility of someone eventually persuading us why making a Saga show or movie or cartoon would make the story better, but it hasn’t happened yet.Not every comic or franchise needs a tv show or movie. As a saga fan, I’m ok with it just being a comic series and I think many saga fans agree.

Someone must have gotten tired of waiting for a 9.8

$2500 for the last blue 9.8. Is that a record?
I believe so. Previous recorded sale for a blue label 9.8 was $2250. Currently the lowest priced copy on eBay is 4k for a 9.8 . Crazy that this one is still climbing with no movie or TV news or hype.
I know BKV has gone on record saying there won't be a TV or movie show due to the costs. However, if it ever happens. Watch out.

True. But like everything else in this hobby, demand ebbs and flows.
Right now there seems to be a sudden spike in demand in the blue chip JSC back issue variant market. By the way did you notice that the seller of the raw UXM 510 sketch suddenly canceled all bids and ended the auction early?
He probably got an off eBay offer that he couldn't refuse...
-J.
I figured a deal was made off eBay. I sent a note to the seller asking if he can share the sold price.

Red hot? I don’t think that book has cooled off. There will always be a demand for his books especially that particular cover. JSC has been in the game for 25 + years and has a pretty loyal following.

It is supposed to be an annual event, but I don't know if they are going to break even this year... So, who knows!
Anyway I just got an email from Albert Moy, about Jim Lee's commission prices... copy and paste:
" For the first time in over 15 years, Jim Lee will be taking commission requests to be delivered exclusively at the Lake Como Comic Art Festival held April 20-22, 2018 at Villa Erba, Cernobbio , Italy.
This offer is an exclusive for show attendees only and wonâ?Tt be shipped out. There is a limit to six total and one commission per customer.
Penciled and inked by Jim Lee.
11 by 17 inches, full figure one character with limited backgrounds $15,000
11 by 17 inches, bust shot one character with no backgrounds $7,000
9 by 12 inches, full figure $6,000 with limited backgrounds
9 by 12 inches, bust shot no backgrounds $4,000
Blank cover comic, only bust shot with no background $4,000. Jim Lee will supply the blank cover comic.
Jim Lee will ultimately choose which commissions request he wants to fulfill. Once chosen, payment must be paid in full before the show. He may choose to live stream the creation of the commissions at his studio or at the show in Italy.
Payment by Paypal or Credit Card only in US dollars with a 5% service fee.
A link to enter the information for your commission request will be opened on the website. "This is totally insane. I won't ever pay that amount. If there is someone crazy enough, I would happily pick up and ship for you.
Fan of Jim Lee, but those prices though.
4K for a blank sketch cover. I know there are some OA collectors that don't respect blank sketch covers, but the detail and art on these sketch covers rival full blown commission pieces.

I remember seeing some guy with 2 of these at exactly this same grade up on ebay about 3-4 years ago at around $1100 or so (I think it was each, but maybe it was the pair? I don't remember) & I thought it was kinda nuts. Now, I'd pretty much jump on that. And now I think I'm nuts.

37 watchers on that raw copy. Hard to tell if the book is a 9.8 candidate though.

He asked about ASM 601 then you said older books like 688.
601 will increase in value over the years as long as he stays popular.
First of all, he opened up his question with JSC covers in general. Then asked about 601.
601 is older yes, but did I not say it’s common ? Asm 688 is a 1:50 Variant cover. I also said older books books prior to him saturating the market with his store covers. The 688 came out in 2012. Didn’t he just launch his store exclusives in 2015?
Also forgot to add danger girl girl ruby red and black panther #1 partial sketch to the list.

That book is pricey. 4K for a 9.8. If you like the art and want to save, you can get a la mole version for like $50. Same cover art at the fraction of the cost.
