I have a problem with calling something a "sketch" cover, just because portions of the art are uncolored.

There's a difference between SKETCHED art, like these, which clearly have an "unfinished" look, and art that is clearly inked, like the Black Panther #1, but is partially uncolored.

 

What they should be called is "partial black & white" variants. Even "partial color" version.

Agree. However, I think it was CGC that noted it on their labels?

I got the sketch because I think it will look nice next to my ASM 18 kinda like ASM 606, but I passed on the red... just wish they were for ASM and not Champions...

I love the sketch one too. it's going to look nice with my other JSC partial sketches. Just hope it is a 9.8 candidate.

Does marvel require a minimum print run job for incentive variants? Does this apply to store and con variants?

 

The minimum I've seen for store and convention exclusives is 500.

 

For their own variants (ratio, or otherwise ) they can print as few as they want, but realistically they wouldn't print less than a case pack (up to 250 copies).

500 if there is another 3k ordered. The new ratio you are seeing is 3k color, 1.5 sketch, 500 other. You can't just order 500.

Ah, This explains all the variants that have been coming out with 3 different covers. I.E. JSC Harley Little Black Book,renew your vows2,, Art Germ's Legacy harley Quinn, etc.

I think majority understands that they print more than ordered to cover damages. Which is understandable. How much more is the question.

You are late. The $25 Canadian for sale was yesterday and of course people bought it when it sold out.

Also, JSC said on his twitter that cover C has a print run of a "little over a 1,000". Don't think he has ever revealed print run #s on his store variants before.

I love when people complain about the lack of background, but the wolverine, and the siege variants have no background, and they are his highest valued books.

 

Got me there. The lack of any background or foreground is definitely what makes those books valuable.

fwiw JSC has been on record saying that he really doesnt like drawing background or doenst go into that deail. I remember reading it in his time exposure hard cover.

No they didn't. It's an issue of Amazing Spiderman. They printed half a million. One leaf among 20 or so is different. The rest is the same. The comic isn't rare. One day people are going to wonder why anyone cared about variant covers. They'll laugh at variant collections like they laugh at our polybagged-with-card collectors issues today.

 

Nothing published by any major publisher is rare in correlation with the number of actual collectors out there. If something's hard to find, it's not because a thousand people want it, it's because someone bought a thousand of them.

I wouldn't be surprised if more of the Champions variants get released. They were limiting to one per person on the site. I bet we'll see more released soon.

I'm not sure how much it costs for international shipping... and apparently they are out of stock! They announced them late at night and now they are gone.

 

Still showing in stock for me. Also if anyone cares, for both issues+shipping to So Cal, it's about $67 if they don't want to the math themselves. Shipping was about $8 of that.

Growing up in L.A. you would think my Spanish would be pretty good. Took me awhile but got through checkout . $67 I am ok with. I tried adding more than 1 copy to my cart but it wouldn't let me, said it was sold out.

I've been reading the comments on twitter and some are pretty hilarious. there is one person that tweeted Campbell and asked why HE created this character.

Yeah, i follow and collect some Milo Manara covers so I am familiar with his work. Manara and Campbell have contrasting art styles for sure.

In terms of Manara covers, this is still my favorite marvel comic cover he has done.

The flack that manara got for his spider woman cover was overblown tbh.

Agree with Milo manara. However, JSC has a way bigger fan base than manara. if I recall correctly manara is no longer doing mavel covers. Anyone think that marvel will stop using JSC for doing cover art or vice versa? Highly doubt it.

Just been sent an email from Midtown stating that one of the Invicible Iron Man #1 JSC covers (unarmored Riri Williams) has been cancelled... does anyone know why or have been sent this message?

wonder if any of the unarmored variants made it to print and if they will just destroy those copies? Hopefully, someone saves a few copies and it hits feebay.

btw- is there any other artist that is a polarizing as JSC.

Something seems fishy. Red flag is that he didn't get the original commission because the coloring had issues, yet the artist had that same commission for sale . He could have easily offered it up to the OP and be done with .
