  1. I remember when I was first getting into comics a few years ago. I've always been an ASM fan, and I picked up on the Lizard run (I want to say 687, 688, etc.). If I recall correctly, Campbell was the only one who did variants for those issues, and I bought some because I liked the idea of building a variant collection. I think those were fine because it was just one main variant. But like someone said earlier, when ASM #700 came, there were tons of variants for each issue, and that seems to have continued today. I can understand special covers for special issues, but now it feels like every book that comes out has a variant "just because."

The one thing I still hate about first getting into comics was not buying the Campbell #688 variant for like $40 when it first came out. doh!

  2. I think Negan will be the most popular person in the series and WD 100 will explode

    lol

Which of the 25 variants (or so)? The print run on 100 is enormous.

There's really only 1 of the 25 variants that people will want..and that's not including the 2nd print. The SDCC has really never worked up much love from people. 355k split amongst the variants is not that many if you focus on 1 cover. Would love to know where issue 100 is floating around in $ bins.

Why are the 2nd prints selling for so much more?

  3. What happened to the fact that Sam was crying "Mom" at the end of the mid-season finale? Did that not happen? Did they get past it cause he shut up? Sam was the biggest liability to begin with. Why not send him and his mom with Judith to the church, if Sam was going to insist on being with her? There was doubt before they ever left the house that he would make it through the horde. Why not take that opportunity to get him out of the group trying to do something? Frustrating. If you're going to have Sam and his mom get eaten, do it like it was telegraphed: when he's crying mom right after they leave the house.

This was the biggest thing that aggravated me right from the beginning. You can't have that scene in the mid-season finale and then just gloss over it like it never happened.

  4. I've been out of comics for awhile aside from reading ASM. Nowhere Men was one of my favorite titles when it came out, and I would buy every issue, print, etc. in 9.8. I was obsessed. I'm glad it's coming back, but this time it'll be only to read and not collect.

  5. Please consider adding Randomstuff704.

Long story short, after making contact, then taking the conversation to non ebay email, we agreed to a trade. I sent my books and he decided not to trade. No problem, i said, please send the books back. He never did. He even says he did, then i asked for tracking info and he never replied or supplied it. Basically stole $1000 worth of books from me.

Coincidentally at the same time he made an offer on a DD1 i had for sale. I asked to keep the deals separate, he didnt realize until my email that we had 2 deals going on. Anyway, he had my trade books already. We finished the DD1 purchase smoothly... The issue and my first red flag was that he does not have a paypal acct. He had to use someone elses paypal acct to pay. THat made me wonder, but he already had my trade books. The rest of the story is above. Still have the emails and my tracking info that he got my books.

  6. Well it is that book but the deal was negotiated after the sale was brought down. The terms contained the amount and not a timeframe. I inquired to the buyer 5 days after the negotiated payment since payment wasn't made and a reply that the payment would be made the next night.

Given that "night" has passed 3 days ago, the buyer comes back and states that he is waiting for payment on a sale in order to complete my sale.

Knowing that the rule states 30 days, I'm trying to find out if I can safely back out and sell to the back up buyer without nomination to the PL. Usually I read the 30 day rule to be primarily towards the sellers due to lack of response or late in mailing an item purchased....

Even though you didn't state the condition in your agreement, it seems he set his own payment date when he said he was pay three days ago. Shouldn't this count as him breaking his own conditions?

  7. I don't quite understand, why if you want the thread to be just like the PIF you don't participate in the thread? Take the current offer there and see if you can get that thread jumpstarted or start your own thread.

I restarted the thread the first time it died and now feel like it was just a waste of money and goodwill. Everyone seemed to be waiting for the big gives and not just looking for something in there collecting focus. Just the way it seemed. That and a lot of people said they were scared to participate.

Harvey said the thread can go on without him, so throw something up if you want or move on.

The PIF has been moving pretty well the past couple of weeks. If more people would participate, it would be ever better.

  8. Here's one to add to your blocked list: mayer_res8izy

This guy had been buying from me regularly with no problem. Never contacted me with any concerns and the feedback comments always seemed to indicate that he was completely satisfied. He then decided for some unknown reason to systematically destroy my feedback. Maybe to help a competitor, or he has now decided to start selling comics... who knows.

His master plan was to leave positive feedback with low DSRs in rapid succession for 14 items spread out over five transactions. Due to the underhanded way he was manipulating my FB, I had no idea what was going on until I saw my account downgraded from Top Rated to Above Standard and ran a DSR report.

Once I discovered this, I sent him a message thanking him for his business and asking how he liked the books. He responded with a question about splitting up an invoice, but with no acknowledgment of my message.

According to ebay policy, leaving positive FB with low DSRs is feedback abuse and is supposed to be removed. After three calls to customer service, ebay refused to remove the low DSRs since they worship all buyers and treat sellers like garbage. Now my account is downgraded with loss of seller discount rates due to this loser. Make sure to block this guy ASAP.

Man, I really hate that happened. Thank you for coming on here and posting his username.

  9. I like slabs because of the protection they provide and I like how they display. While Mylars also display nice, I still love to be able to hang up a slab, and people are able to see who the creators are and why its a key issue or anything else. I think thats one of the coolest parts, for someone to see the slab and it mentions a first appearance or key story arc. Thats why I like getting my books slabbed, not for selling, but personal preferance.

That's why I like my books slabbed too. The protection, especially for the older books is a nice benefit. Just like you, I like that it has a notation of 1st app, etc...

One other great thing is restoration detection. I don't trust myself at all when it comes to older books. I've never had a raw restored book, so I don't know what to look for. It's nice knowing a book isn't restored (even though it's not 100% correct all the time :gossip: ).

  10. RAK stands for RANDOM act of kindness. Look at the long list of all-time RAKs above. Most of the RAK offering were not by people who were doing so right after they took something as some form of obligation ...but just because they had something to offer and wanted to contribute.

I know, personally, when I come across something I think will make a cool RAK I'm happy to post it.

So as everyone here is saying in different ways... For those who want this to continue? It's really really simple. Look at the master list of RAKs. Have you ever offered one? If not? Then your next post should be a RAK, not a comment about the best way to keep this going.

This is doubly true if you look at that list and see you've been on the receiving end of RAK/s before and have still not posted one of your own.

The list can be sort of deceiving, though. As I stated a few posts ago, I posted a RAK after I claimed one. My RAK went unclaimed, so it was removed from the list after a week. So it's hard to tell who offered what and if they did.

  11. I think a mellower attitude would serve the tree well. A gift is between two people-the giver and the recipient.

Everyone thinks the giver is losing something and the taker is gaining something. That's not true. I get immense satisfaction from giving-all the taker gets is a drawing. If someone takes 10 of my drawings, he's made me feel good 10 times.

I agree with Kav. There will always be people who claim more than others, but I don't see a huge problem unless they're just snatching every offer up right when it's posted. But if a RAK sits for a couple of days, I don't think it matters who takes it.

  12. remember RAKs are just free giving-they don't require the taker to also give something.

Very true but if all you do is take and never give the thread dies, true. The nature of the thread should be to give more than you take. Just my take on it.

I've taken one RAK, and posted a RAK the same day. It didn't get taken, but I tried. lol

  13. I agree with Swick that there has to be some sort of accountability. That is the whole reason why he kept track of who gave and accepted RAKS. Otherwise someone could take and never give and no one would notice. You dont have to give one to take one but if someone takes several they should at least offer one.

Heck, i could be wrong but I think one of the people arguing to keep the RAKs going have taken 3 and given none. :baiting::whistle:

    lol

  14. I wonder if there is a way we can keep the RAKs consolidated to one post? I know Harvey doesn't need the trouble of updating like he once did, but there has to be a way for the community to keep up with what is still up for grabs.
