  1. I have always been interested in the Hulk. He would be considered my favorite. I would be most interested in just having a nice collection to hang my hat on.
Very new to this, but I am looking to start a collection. Does anyone have any suggestions on some comics that I should purchase right now that may gain value into the future. Thanks for your time, John

Are you looking for resale? Are you reading the books? Are you just looking to speculate?

You need to be a little more clear on what your goals are. It would help us advise you better.

Whether trying to build a nice collection or getting books before they get too high for you to afford, I would learn/look up what the key Hulk books are. That way you can buy first appearances you like, the best looking covers, etc. I honestly don't know much about Hulk books except #181, which is the first appearance of Wolverine. lol

Actually, IH #180 is the first appearance. Ya, I said it! :sumo:

  2. Getting back to an earlier post,

I'm surprised to see Spider-man/Deadpool #1 regular doing so well at $15.

Would have thought it was WAY overproduced and too recent.

    Patrick

The gamestop variant is doing really well also started high and holding well i seen a graded copy show up but idk what happened to it

Yea, hindsight it was dumb to not preorder a bunch, but I had the same thought that dealers would go heavy on them.

The GameStop is a different animal. I don't know of any others that have held value. If you do the math on what you have to spend to get enough points for one its a pricey book.

I never even knew about the GameStop variants until I just went to look one day. I had about 12,000 points saved up that I had never used, and it just happened to be when they were releasing the ASM #1 variant. I got one and sold it for $275 before it came out.

I just checked again, but I only have 7,250 points. I see what you're saying about how much one would have to spend in order to get enough points to purchase one of the variants, though. I also don't think they would keep up too much value. Just look at the ASM #1s now...

  4. i'm not sure they can do anything, but can you file a police report?

i'm not saying he'll go to jail or nothin', but a friendly knock on the door from an officer probably gets everything returned.

If he follows through with a police report, the police will certainly come to his door and the knock will not be friendly.

The seller sold the sketched slab for over $500 on eBay.

The boardie who got beat out of this book has proof (text messages/emails) from the seller, indicating that the book was owed to him.

As the slab has realized a value of over $500, the seller committed *grand larceny*.

    http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/grand+larceny

That is not the seller's only crime.

By using a mail carrier to ship this slab (stolen property) over state lines, I am pretty sure the seller would be facing two criminal charges.

The latter charge is a Federal Offense, if I am not mistaken.

If the boardie files a police report, both of the charges would be set in motion, as far as I can see.

Finally, if 5 of us report this listing to ebay as suspected stolen property, the seller will get his due deserts from not only the criminal and federal offenses...but he would just about certainly be kicked off of eBay.

Is this about the sketch books? I thought this was cleared up a couple weeks ago.

  5. What do you guys think of this?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wolverine-2003-series-66-2nd-print-cover-variant-Marvel-Comics-Old-Man-Logan-/201536897654?hash=item2eec890276:g:to4AAOSwu1VW3bV-

I remember (several pages back) someone mentioned Old Man Logan. Is there a reason the 2nd print is going up?

Hype that it's a 2nd print ala Captain Marvel #17. It may have a low print/distribution (RMA APPROVED CONTEXT), but that is it. It has a picture on the cover that doesn't really happen in the book anyway.

People trying to hype it, as well as all the 2nd printings of this run.

Ahh okay. I saw one at a comic shop a couple weekends ago for $4. Didn't know if there was a reason for it to go up to $20-30.

  6. Has anyone ever heard of this web site?

    Comic Book Headquarters

Wife found it on group on and it had some deal but stated shipping not included so I went digging around the site and there are some decent books so I added a few to the cart and went to check out through paypal and there was again nothing regarding shipping.

I find it impossible to believe someone is selling a 10-12 dollar slab and that includes shipping...but looking around the site it was registered in 2012 and it has a private registration through GoDaddy but I was able to find the owners name. address and facebook...

    They have a Groupon

  7. just randomly wanted to say that I love when someone posts that they are buying a house and need to sell some books and then list like $10 books that are between $5-10...

what kind of house are you moving into that $50 will help that much?

    playhouse.jpg

And I love it when people read the description which states, "I'm trying to sell so I won't have as much to move." It literally has nothing about raising money for the house in the description. :makepoint:

    Good joke, though lol

  8. All this focus on Abe right now can only mean one thing....he's gonna die soon

I'm afraid so, although it would be neat to see him stick around a little longer...similar to what they did with Shane.

Abraham might be the one to go, but I'm still leaning toward Glenn. They focused a lot on Maggie's pregnancy, which goes along with the comics. Also, unless it was a purposeful misdirection, Maggie is the one who says, "It's gonna cost us something," when they were discussing a deal with Hilltop. I think that was some MAJOR foreshadowing there.

  9. Surprised Spiderman 134 and 135 aren't going for more. What with 129 the Limited Series and other Copper keys moving higher.

spiderman 135 has always been underappreciated

Like all of these other so-called key books, it's all about the first appearance only.

If you look at Nova, Ms. Marvel, Starlord, etc, it's only the first appearance that is going for any money. All of the other subsequent issues are basically nothing more than dreck.

So, I guess your one single winner has to be big enough to pay for all of the other losers which you are holding in the run. hm

    How about this one? lol
