I'm seeing lots of 9.2, 9.4 and 9.6 books being sold as a Buy It Now on Ebay for way less than the $120 signature cost. I still don't understand why so many people sent their books off unless they had a real shot at a 9.8 on a key, rare book like #300, #301, etc. CGC really marketed the heck out of this event.

Im hoping to get a spawn 1 that way ..someone who hates the grade and wants to get rid of it

  2. Though I would share this as it might give someone hope.  I have been selling on eBay for 20+ years . I have never won a eBay return case . There haven’t been many, but that changed today.  The buyer was denied due to abuse of the eBay return policy .  The bonus was they return the item then found out they lost .  So I kept the item and got my money . So maybe eBay is going to finally start helping sellers more , doubt it but I’ll take this win

  4. Hello

I’m finally getting around to my old X-men books , but I haven’t graded silver age books myself ..just sent them to cgc .  Now I have time to learn .  The book looks like 6.0-7.0 but not sure about a couple of things . Tanning , looks like color loss on the edges etc . Most of my books look like this .  So have fun let know what you think ..thank you 29870E30-F4AD-4377-8792-4BDD72352CE1.thumb.jpeg.3222002b8cc0f38a6ef653531c737da4.jpeg

Come on. What they said was a smoke screen to save face. No one wants to admit they couldn’t secure enough dealers to fill the room. And the “guests” were a ploy to sell more tickets.

I went to the first one too. It was epic and he knocked it out of the park with perfect timing. Expanding to a 2 then 3 day show and adding guests was a mistake. He lost his way and diluted his original intent. It was strictly and vintage comic buying and selling show for those such as myself who were tired of all the crowds, expense and non comic centric activities at SDCC.

I went one day last time. I spent a boatload of money, socialized with buddies I rarely get to see and did it all in one day easily.

I think he was a victim of his own success.

Yes just like terry shows ..perfect 1 day shows. He just missed on this which happens in business . I know he and his team are smart enough to comeback strong when the time is right

I don't disagree with anything you're saying, but that is not what Torpedo Comics has said, they played this off as if there was a conflict with the venue schedule.

I also think they grew too big too fast. There was nothing wrong with a one day show that didn't have a ton of ticket price options, I think the first one I went to was $10 and it was a great show. They didn't need to grow it to a three day show.

Correct about the reason given. John has been doing this along time . I’m sure there was an out clause with a small financial loss but had to used by a certain day.

As far as a 2 day shows during non Covid years maybe. What I saw at Wondercon and Phoenix con the west coast big shows are in trouble until things clear up.  One day local shows in small venues will be the way to go for everyone

Thank you for providing that feedback! From my perspective as a vendor for the first show, the foot traffic was GREAT! I genuinely didn't have a moment to sit down until about an hour before the advertised end time of the show (and even then I still had a few people digging well past 3pm).

Free parking and free entry = more money for comic books!

Same here …wasn’t sure if it was going to be like the upland shows or the ones that card shop in Placentia puts on….it was a well run show

Jeff is definitely a character.  The place is the weirdest comic book shop I've ever visited.  Either the owner birds are squawking like crazy, him constantly smoking weed, or him blasting his radio to off the neighbors next door.

Yes that happens all the time ..he almost 70 so change is something he isn’t doing
