  1. Keeping with my WD blanks done by punk bands theme, I saw The Accused AD play tonight and got a doodle from Blaine.

It's not the quality of the art, I mean not everyone can be Away from Voivod obviously, it's just having it and that moment in time.

I'm going to see Stiff Little Fingers on Wednesday, prob take a blank with me.

New books for discussion. Some are borderline Copper as well. Each has several
    sales to confirm them.

    Gen 13 12# - Campbell love book
    X-O Manowar 4 - multiple nice sales
Flashpoint 1-5 Set - Worth putting up together
    Power Girl 27 - Approaching $100 raw
    Rick & Morty 1 1st Print - $200-250 and climbing
Quantum and Woody - Yes I said Quantum and Woody
    Web of Spider-man 97 - Unreal

TAH 22 - $40-50 book currently and I think it will settle there till Marvel decides what
they want to do with the book.

Throwback issues? - Teen Titans and Deathstroke the Lazarus Contract. Sales are
over $10 an issue currently. The story is pretty good.

I've been rescuing Web 97's from the dollar bins over the weekend, put aside 1 copy which looks like a 9.8 candidate but wonder how much shelf life this issue has.

Daredevil 227-233, Born Again sets in VF or better are doing well

Nemesis sets and Happy sets, or just the #1's if you find them in the buck bins, grab 'em up

  3. Last night I was working one of the merch tables at The GBH show, a friend's band was playing the gig and since I had all access and knew I'd be backstage, I figured what the hell and brought a WD blank cover with me.

None of the guys in GBH are artists, but I didn't care and Colin, the singer, did a quick skull doodle for me. I'm thinking, cool, goes into my punk collection of stuff.

Well, Danzig was playing at the same time on the same block and as we're leaving my friend says, "Glenn's signing stuff, the bus is just around the corner." The line was really short since it was after 2:AM at this point.

We had to hand over whatever we wanted him to sign to his roadie (1 item) who then took the stuff on the bus and would come back out in a few minutes. I wrote a quick note to give to him with the GBH sketch cover, saying how I used to work in a record shop in town that he'd always shop at and my fiance works at one of his favorite spots he used to hit up, and would he please draw a quick small skull on the front.

So, I'm expecting to have a GBH / Danzig combo cover with 2 minute long doodles on the front. When the roadie handed it back to me, and I saw the back of the cover I was in awe. I guess he read my note

Interesting week in modern sales. I am purposely leaving off store variants and exclusives there are entire websites
for those books and I am really bored with them lately.

Hulk 22 - This book has become a monster. Just look at sales. For once I agree it is a good investment although
the price is climbing much faster then I anticipated.

Mr. Miracle - Seems to have calmed down a bit at $15. I like seeing B listers get some good press.

Venom 1 Lethal Protector Newsstand sells very very well. One of the sales is mine and I had several offers that I turned down before I had
a BIN hit. The demand is there. No matter what haters say.

New Avengers 10 looks to be a $20 book now. It really is a :censored: to find.

WMD tie ins are all showing some appreciation. At this point I am going to say this set will be similar to Old Man Logan
although for me the art and writing isn't as good, but the public has spoken they like it. So all tie ins are seeing appreciation
sales currently even WMD is selling above cover.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 1 2017 Domino Cover seems to be selling well lately.

Superman Batman Annual 4 Demands seem to be increasing for it.

First 10 or so issues of Zombie Tramp continue to sizzle.

UF 4 just the regular issue is really selling well now approaching $50 in NM.

Daredevil 111 variant is selling well last few months.

I really hope DC's Metal does well. One local shop tells me his DC buyers have fallen in 1/2
due to all the screws ups and price increases on DC books.

Sandman 69 seems to be the current invogue book. I need to sell mine $20 currently.

Hughes covers of WW, Tomb Raider and Catwoman still sell very well in high grade even
common non desireable ones are appreciating.

Alias - Lord this book is sky rocketing again. Even some issues that weren't desireable last
    time are appreciating now.

Secret Wars Battleworld 3 - If you want to make a few bucks.

I've been finding NA #10 in runs, like #8-12 in a set at shops for cheap but never see it in a bin by itself. I'm still not convinced that NA 10 is Thane's 1st appearance but I'll take the money. I'm leaning toward Infinity #4

SW Battleworld #3, that cover is just so beyond awful and that will prevent it from really taking off IMO. How many people here  looked it up on ebay and went "Ecccch!"

Sandman 22 slowed down a bit but once the next Dark Nights chapters come out, 22 and 69 should go up again (69 is Daniel's 1st appearance as Dream, so that's the one to get I believe)

Thanks to DS and Lonzilla  (thumbsu for the info and everyone else for their opinions - we're all friends here. It's not a competition.

That's why were all here, though not as often since they "improved" the board layout.

I was a faithful Sandman reader from issue #1 the day it came out until somewhere in the 50's, whenever Hempel's art completely ruined whatever enjoyment I was still getting out of it.

My girl has all of the TPB's and when I told her that Daniel/Dream was going to be in the Dark Nights Metal, she said, "oh, you never read Morpheus's death, did you?" So I read the last couple TPB's, man Hempel's art is so cartoony and horrible (*disclaimer, I loved Gregory when he did it for Piranha Press), and after re-reading #22 and #69 now, I have to throw in my 2 cents and say the issue 69 is the one. But whatever, I'll sell them to whoever is paying more for whichever one

This book has been known about long enough that more would have turned up if the right people had them. I would assume they are in peoples collections that don't care to have them graded. And yes, tough book to find.

Found one at a LCS last month for $20, had to have been sitting in the long box for years because this place never puts out anything new in their bins.

So, short answer: they're still out there, don't give up hope

That's a good commentary on the difference between rarity and distribution(or dispersion).

A book like a New Avengers 10 or a Hulk 22 will never have been concentrated, while something like Jupiter's Legacy will have been very concentrated.  For people searching the second hand market, books with high dispersion or distributed widely, can be extremely hard to find, while other books (not JL, but many variants on these boards would work as examples), might have much smaller print runs, but would be much easier to find "in the wild".

New Avengers 10 has a CC estimated print run of 60,700, but if those 60,700 books are owned by 40,000 people, it can be very difficult to find copies online and in stores.  If there were 2-500 easily available copies at the time that people started caring about it, this forum and the sites that orbit it, could vaporize that supply in less than a week, and the places that do have them (say stores without an easily searched online presence) won't have many copies per store/location, because they never did to begin with.

I've long felt this concept, (i sometimes call it strong hands versus weak hands), in terms of how able people are to buy up a supply, or how many are available to purchase at any one time, is something people dont talk about, think about much in terms of what it means for rarity.  It can have a huge impact on the short term price spikes, and the long term ability to hold value.

High rarity gives you both short term vulnerability to big price rises, and long term stability (inability for people to bring many to market quickly)

High Dispersion gives you good short term price spikes, but will draw out supply, less stability (but if enough demand exists to eat the supply, it will stay highly dispersed)

High rarity AND High Dispersion gives you "key books", and very strong stability.  Especially once people have a lot of skin in on a book, and are unwilling to sell for a loss.

Everyone bought multiple copies of Jupiter's Legacy #1 to sit on. Pretty much nobody bought multiple copies of New Avengers #8-10 to sit on. Thrill of the hunt

  8. New Avengers 8-10 are still selling well, though NA #10 isn't a full appearance of Thane (see Infinity #4) but people still want it and it's not as easy to find multiple copies of in one spot as some may think.

Spawn homage covers are moving up, especially slabs, and it doesn't even have to be a sketch variant

Happy! Looks like the trailer will do the mini series justice and if you scooped up several sets when they hit the 50 cent bins, it's all profit now

Any particular reason why you told her to hold onto it a bit longer?  This isn't a book that is driven by any factor (movie, first appearance, etc...) other than it being a rare variant.

Just that with so few high grade copies available at any given time, I don't believe it has hit its ceiling yet.

Sorry it took me a month to reply but ever since they  improved  effed up the boards, I'm rarely logged in on here anymore
