44,311 copies of Thanos 13 1st print shipped from Diamond, followed by 25,578 copies of Thanos 14. I'd bet there are 20,000 copies or so of the lenticular cover out there. Marvel played a bunch of games with the ordering on those lenticular covers, eg. you had to order a bunch of the regular cover to qualify, then you could order as many lenticulars as you wanted. Now see how that worked out, the regular cover is gold and the lenticular is selling for cover price. Marvel won't be able to pull that scam again.. for a few years anyway, until people forget. But be sure to pick up "Thanos Annual #1" in a few weeks, and pay no attention to that old "Thanos Annual #1" published back in 2014.

No shops around here got the Thanos #13 1:25 variant or else I would've grabbed it, it's one of those series that just a few shop regulars were reading during Lemire's run so I'm guessing that even with Infinity War on the horizon, nobody went heavy on it.

They all finally caught on and went big on the 2nd and 3rd printings but still not so much with the 1st prints of the entire run at all, not even the last 2 issues when the series was established as a hit.

Point being, the lenticular will slowly rise in price, (currently $50-$60 in 9.8 which isn't bad) people are going to want complete sets because it's one of the few bright spots from Marvel in the last decade

  2. Because of New Mutants 8 and X-Force 116 heating up, expect to see the other issues from those runs get hoarded because who knows which characters will be in the next Deadpool / X-Force movie, or even the NM movie for that matter since they;ve gone to reshoots.

I'm betting on Dead Girl and have been grabbing X-Force 125 / 126 out of dollar bins like a maniac

Why would some director's comments about "Kirby homage UV explosions" (whatever the hell that means) in Blade I, II, XVII, XXVII, or whatever give us hope, in general, that a proposed modern "Fourth World" movie (made nearly two decades later by a different director) would be anything other than yet another bog-standard modern superhero CGI slug-fest with all the same turgid/PC-adjusted backstories, clich´éd tropes, posturing, bombast, and general lack of subtlety we've come to expect and accept from this rubbish?

Kirby's "Fourth World" was a failed experiment precisely because the mainstream of the pop-cultural subset (i.e., comic books) in which it unfolded at the time didn't get it, and wasn't patient enough commercially to let its visionary and highly idiosyncratic myth-making run its natural course.

I appreciate and admire your optimism re: the movie(s), but I see no compelling reason to share it...

^^THIS! Why would anyone in their right mind trust Warner /DC to not screw this up given their horrible track record?

Say it ain’t so about TWD:S

Guess I should dust off some these boxes and start selling now...

If you look at the 1st appearances of characters who were introduced on the show in the last few years it's been a steady tick downward.

The most recent CGC 9.8 ebay sales:

    92 Jesus $95

    98 Dwight $65

    100 2nd Print Negan $90 (ouch!)

    108 Ezekiel $70

    not to mention 127($45) and 132 ($30)

Point being that anyone who makes their debut on the TV show, it will be a character who was introduced in the comic Post All Out War, i.e. everyone bought multiple copies, sometime as many as 10, 20 or 30.

I hate to admit it but there's very little  money to be made with 1st apps unless the show goes balls out insane with the Whisperers / Alpha / Beta / Lydia and even then that's a huge "if."

Seriously though, I think it is even cheaper now than before the rumors of a show even started surfacing

    #1- the tv show sucks

#2 -the 66 issues and one-shots have been around long enough that anyone who wanted to complete their collection had ample time to do so

#3 - fans of the show who weren't already comic collectors will seek out the TPBs

#4 - Walking Dead will be suffering a similar fate soon enough

I hate Marvel's constant re-numbering to boost sales, but I gotta say, I'm a little excited by some of the new offerings and creative moves.

I'm interested to see Jeff Lemire writing The Sentry after what he did with the Thanos run.

Also interested in seeing how Ta-Nehisi Coates handles Cap.

Al Ewing is probably one of Marvel's best writers at the moment so despite not exactly liking the premise of the new Hulk, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Cosmic Ghost Rider has been a hit so I'll probably get his miniseries.

Jason Aaron's Thor run has been great and I see no reason why the new series will be any different.

And then of course Avengers, just because I like Ed McGuinness' slightly cartoony style.

Jeff Lemire writing The Sentry, count me in for that. If it's even half as good as his Moon Knight and Thanos runs, it'll be worth the $4 or $5 every issue

Every new movie/show had the chance to bring in new readers, but it's always been a question of "do any of them stick?" and thus far, the answer has been "almost none"

Of course, that doesn't mean this won't be the time that that changes.

It's like how The NHL thought for many years "The Olympics will attract new viewers to our regular season games" but they never did

  8. Supposedly Cates' Thanos series is ending with issue 18 with an annual to follow shortly after, not "officially confirmed" but no issue is solicited for May.

Marvel has an actual hit series for once that wasn't hyped up as an all-new race/gender swap reboot and they can't see it in front of their faces.

But something like Moon Girl which sells around 7,000 copies will still be on the racks monthly no doubt..
