  1. Thanks. I took the advice of many, and bought the highest grade (with what I consider great eye appeal), that I could afford
  2. My scanner crops it. But this is my first CGC comic ever. All raw comics up till now. Couldn't be happier with this
  3. Is there a consensus opinion on how folks think this will turn out? I mean, Marvel seems to turn out hit after hit after hit with their various franchises. DC should have a little momentum from the recent Batman trilogy and Man of Steel was far from being a dog. Green Lantern however...Is this the movie that will allow DC to really step up it's challenge against Marvel?
  4. This week for me has been Mylite week. For awhile now I've wanted to switch my Tarzan Golden-Silver age collection out of regular bags and into MyLites. With the help of a tax return I can finally say mission accomplished
  5. Not as many as it sounds I don't have that much space for comics . Primarily a sports card guy through the years. Smaller, easier to display. My wall display for comics I can only display 4. So it sounds like a huge collection, but is far from it. For me it's quality > quantity, raw > cgc. And I try to display everything in a rotation because I've bought everything for a reason, and things should be displayed because of that IMO.
  6. Sounds like my room. No direct through the window onto the comic(or card) sunlight but there is natural light that I allow though not much. I use a 60 watt incandescent bulb in my main light and the same in a lamp. I try to take as few chances as I can myself with comics, I rotate the show area I have every 2 days. That's probably too much, but I do it. Likely major OCD there I do much the same with my showcase and sports cards. No issues doing this for years, from 1987 or so. I just stay diligent, I don't want to have to replace what I've picked up through the years due to my being stupid.
  7. To each his own I suppose. I don't press any of my comics, and I ask if a book has been pressed before buying. I guess I rely on the honor system in that way. Which is rife with it's own problems. I can understand why folks will get a comic pressed however, when the name of the game in so many ways is: $$$$$. It's not for me though. I'll stick with the traditional way I've collected, and the hunt of finding mid to higher grade unpressed comics. Which if they end up in my collection, will never see a press....
  8. Spinner racks are cool as hell, the older the better. Around here in the 70's-80's we had a chain of stores called Book Bags. I always remember those spinner racks. I hope to pick up one later this year, 70's 80's earlier don't care what decade. Might be my number one collecting goal for 2014
  9. As a collector of cards and comics for 35 years I've rubbed elbows with some fine folks(that's most collectors) and some scum of the earth types(the few and far between, but, more now than ever). So I like the threads on here and Collectors Universe for cards. Especially cool because I do not use eBay currently, with zero plans to. 08 and 09 were more than enough for this dude. Would an experienced buyer/collector be duped in ? Nope, not a chance. Inexperienced sucker? Yep. The whole first paragraph about the book in question is a lie. It gives the impression that the book IS the one in the photo. With short attention spans the norm, the hook is set. You have to read the equivalent of War and Peace to find out , oops, sorry, this is a reprint. Scum seller. On a scum site that promotes fraud and fraudulent activity on a daily basis. Nothing shocking there. It is however nice to see there are folks here (and when issues arise like this with cards over on CU) who will actually look to protect the integrity of the hobby. A near impossible task, considering the eBay criminal element in charge and uncaring attitude.
