  1. Does anybody have experience with shipping art between France and the US? I'm buying a framed page from someone in Paris and wanted to make sure that we're using the best provider possible. The page is fairly expensive so I would also love to be able to insure it up to the full value (around 8k). I had good experiences with DHL from Italy recently (Milan to Los Angeles in two days, I was speechless), but not sure if they are good for France as well. Alternatively I could have the page shipped to Germany, not sure if this would change the answer (if anybody even has one :-)).

    Thanks so much!

  2. Does anybody have experience with importing comic art from Europe into the US? I bought a page for around USD 3,500 in Sweden and was wondering what I have to expect with regards to costumes fees if the seller declares the full value on the package.

On the CBP website I found the following statement:

Original works of art (i.e. paintings, drawings, pastels, collages and decorative plaques) with or without their frames are duty-free under Chapter 97 in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).

    https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/360/~/importing-personal-and-commercial-original-works-of-art%2C-paintings%2C-drawings%2C

This would lead me to believe that a comic art page would be exempt from customs fees, but I wanted to hear your opinions/experiences.

I also would appreciate if anybody could let me know how the seller should label/declare the content of the package on the customs form. Is this something like: illustration, comic art, artwork, drawing?

    Thanks so much!

  3. Does anybody know where the originals of the John Schoenherr Dune paintings are? I just remembered how much I wanted to own one of these extraordinary paintings when I read the Dune novels as a kid. Well, knowing what I know today I’m sure there is no way they would ever be for sale, but I would love to see one in person if they are exhibited somewhere.

Does anybody know more about their whereabouts?

for bargains, that is.  Man, sooooo many pieces below FMV in this auction!

Unfortunately the one page I bought (Don Rosa Donald Duck Adventures) was right at FMV 😀

I‘m curious, what pieces seemed underpriced to you?

The only other item I was bidding on was the Gammill Action cover and I felt that went for a VERY healthy price.
