  1. Hey guys, here's an exclusive preview of #7: http://fjbarb.tumblr.com/post/66383976822/five-ghosts-7-lost-coastlines-part-1-frank
  2. Hey guys, Thanks for all the generous bids so far. Just for the record--THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE. I will *not* be listing any more/anything else on eBay. So happy bidding!
  3. Hey guys, Glad to see my find exciting some interest! It's definitely a cool piece of Five Ghosts history and very few people seem to have them. I wanted to add that this particular ashcan is even rarer than I thought--I had lost track a bit of when I had made ashcans, but this one is ACTUALLY from C2E2 '12…predating the SDCC '12 ashcan. I had made ashcans for both, the C2E2 one is particularly unique as it only has the first 6 pages plus penciled pages--the SDCC one has inked pages as well, and an expanded page count that includes characters sketches and most importantly (for identification purposes!) A LETTERS PAGE that is dated 7/2012. It's a bit late to amend the ebay auction as I don't want to confuse anyone, BUT--this is the rarer of the two by far. Why are these so rare? They are rare because a) I was using them to pitch publishers--I gave away a fair amount to various publishers and industry friends. b) most people who took them from me were TOTAL STRANGERS WHO COULD'VE CARED LESS. Most of these probably ended up on the floor of the con! I've attached screenshots from email records to show the exactness of these ashcans as I figure it's time to have a hard document of exactly what is what/how many of each there are! So here it is: THE MASTER LIST: 1. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - C2E2 - 16 Pages - 35 COPIES 2. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - SDCC - 28 Pages - 30 COPIES 3. FIve Ghosts #1 - NYCC '12 Self-Published Edition - 40 Pages - 60 COPIES 4. Five Ghosts #1 - ECCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 40 Pages - 200 COPIES 5. Five Ghosts #1-5 - SDCC '13 Edition/Variant Covers (SET) - 50 COPIES 6. Five Ghosts #6 - NYCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 200 COPIES And now photos for my orders of the original Ashcans… Original C2E2 Ashcan order: SDCC Ashcan Order: So consider this the OFFICIAL word on Five Ghosts rarities…and happy bidding!
  4. Alright, guys--time to get crazy! When I was cleaning out my apartment last night I found a FIVE GHOSTS PROMO ASHCAN bagged and boarded amongst my possessions. This is the most rare Five Ghosts artifact out there...it was a small preview I printed up for SCDC '12 when the Kickstarter had just finished and has a few finished pages, inked pages, penciled pages, and pin-ups. There were only around 50 made and most were probably thrown out or given away. Plus it's in the best condition anyone will probably find one! I'm trying to raise some money to help my move, so I posted it as an auction on eBay. Hope that's not tacky, but check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161141125960 Good luck! I started the auction at $0.99 with no reserve, so this should be fun ; ).
  5. Some panels from #7, Chris's return and the start of our LOST COASTLINES arc!
  6. Hey guys, We won the Shel Dorf award for best miniseries (heh)! Thank you so much to everyone/anyone who voted.' Hope you enjoy issue 6 this week! Best, Frank
  7. Thanks, Kaboom! Really excited about the signing this weekend!
  8. I had seen a prototype of the box, but wow--looks amazing! Great work and very flattered!
  9. Hey guys, Not to inundate this thread with non-Five Ghosts stuff, but I just had a few new books announced. Check it out: http://www.newsarama.com/19148-nycc-exclusive-five-ghostss-frank-barbiere-haunts-dark-horse-for-two-new-series.html http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=48359 I look forward to meeting seeing some familiar faces this weekend!
  10. Oh man, it looks like I saw the ring...
  11. Thanks for hanging out, TBP! Also--NYCC Exclusive times: IMAGE COMICS BOOTH Saturday--11-12 Sunday--4-5 There will be 200 for sale ONLY at the signings above. Come and get 'em!
  12. Full six page preview on my tumblr: http://fjbarb.tumblr.com/post/63009916577/five-ghosts-6-preview-out-october-30th-via
  13. cbalroman--I think we'll be limiting 10 per person. Also, here's a finished page of art. It's a beautiful issue if I don't say so myself!
  14. Sorry, I keep forgetting the price. They will be $25.
  15. Here's the finished NYCC Exclusive cover: I will ONLY be selling these during my signings at the Image Comics booth. They are limited to 200--the issue itself is the full #6 issue, a few weeks early ; ). Chris did the pencils, Garry did the inks. I'll also be appearing this upcoming Monday at Forbidden Planet in NYC along with Ales Kot & Greg Rucka. Should be a fun, pre-con signing! Thanks, guys!
  16. While we're talking variants-- We are going to sell an exclusive version of FIVE GHOSTS #6 with this cover at NYCC. Garry Brown is going to ink it, but here are the pencils. Limited to 200, only at our appearances at the Image Comics booth. I'll let you guys know when we'll be there ; ).
  17. Personally, I like the Phantom program as it gives me a chance to approach some artists I'd love to work with and gives me the confidence that retailers are actually going to support the variants. Plus, they are still relatively low print runs that help us but keep the books rare. Though the book is doing well, we can still use the kick that Phantoms give us. Larry and the crew have been instrumental in helping us keep afloat, and certainly there will come a day or month we don't do a variant, but I find it far superior to retailer incentive variants that don't really help us and I tend to think are kind of exploitive.
  18. Here's a late night present for you guys: FIVE GHOSTS #7 PHANTOM VARIANT BY PAOLO RIVERA.
  19. Haha, yes...needless to say I won't be putting the series numbering on the covers ever again. Thanks for all the support as always, guys. I think people are really going to love #6--it came out even better than I expected. Garry really stepped it up. The next arc is also going to be a lot of fun and Chris is taking his art to the next level as well. When we have more stuff I'll post some teasers/whatever here. Again, all the support is very appreciated and we promise to keep coming out with fun stuff to collect! One of these days I'll get around to doing something just for board members--I apologize about the slowness sometimes, but I won't ever disappear ; ).
  20. I've been nothing but thrilled with the response, and it allows us to sustain and keep making the book...but there's no way we'll pull Hickman or Vaughan numbers, so when people point those books out it's kind of laughable.
  21. The "actually read the book" part is not a jab at anyone on these boards--but when folks just tend to judge a book based on sales, or perceive a drop because it's not the cool #1 of the week--that is just irritating .
  22. I can assure folks that the orders on #6 are still plenty good, plus we'll have a number of pretty exciting variants coming up. Also--the book will remain good ; ). If that's your cup of tea. Chris and I are planning to have a nice, long run on Five Ghosts--yeah, people might jump ship trying to make an easy buck, but I think you'll win in the end if you stick around for the long term. And actually read the book.
  23. Yes, we are going to have a show exclusive. I'll probably end up selling it exclusively during my Image signings a la SDCC. It's not going to be a set, but it will be very cool and pretty limited. To limit craziness, I am not going to announce what it is until the actual show. I'll put my signing times up, etc. but that's all I'm gonna say. I'm also ONLY going to sell this at the con--what fun are the exclusives if they aren't exclusive ; ). More info as I get my signing times, etc.!
  24. Hey guys, Hope everyone is well. Haven't posted much as we've been hard at work! Issue 6 is shaping up to be an absolute monster (in the best sense!) and the trade is out tomorrow. Not to be too annoying, but I just found out we were nominated for a Shel Dorf award! If you'd like to vote for Five Ghosts, check out http://www.sheldorfawards.com/vote and we're under best miniseries! Thanks. Also, though it isn't Five Ghosts related--I have a new book called THE WHITE SUITS coming out from Dark Horse this February. Hopefully some of you will dig it--it's an action/crime story with lots of cool visual flair. You can check out a prologue on my tumblr and I've posted the cover. http://fjbarb.tumblr.com/post/61416193033/heres-a-white-suits-prequel-story-i-did-with-toby I'll be back with some very cool new Five Ghosts stuff very soon! Look forward to seeing some of you at NYCC and thanks always for the support. Best, Frank
