  1. Good article but off. I think a lot of those early reboot issues are now in dealers back issue stacks. And as soon as they hit the reboot again the dealers loose money. If they want to play it like tv seasons then go that direction. What they are doing is feeding the hype machine and I think sooner or later retailers are going to stop feeding into their bs. I know a couple of retailers that cut back their orders on the new spider-man and the original sin books because of the super high print numbers and the excessive variants. Not a day later they received strong arm calls from diamond asking them if they where sure they wanted to cut back and that it was going to be a huge book . Those books will be a buck on eBay two weeks after launch and the variants will spike and then decrease. Marvel is horrible. I hope dc keeps the current reboot going.

  2. Marvel is in the comics selling business, not the back issue market business.
Yea ? your point? They are losing readers non stop with the reboots so i would say that their short term sales spikes are going to hurt them or should I say the print side of comics.

Also as Larry stated how many times are they going to get retailers to buy into the next big thing only to get burned over and over again... just an opinion !

  3.

I'm told there will be an Amazing Spider-Man #1 next year.

    I'm NOT even kidding.

WOW ! I cant believe they would reboot again ! they are losing so many regular customers with these reboots. they are selling more copies but... its only because they are forcing the retailers hands with variant incentives. Its to bad they could not just lower these cover prices and write consistent cool stories and work on increased readership instead of gimmicks ! Kirkman is dead on about marvel !

I know Dc just rebooted but odds are there main titles will not see a reboot again for years.

  4. I'm going to go ahead and say the Greg Horn cover is worth less than $100 raw after May 4

I'm going to go ahead and say that EVERY cover to ASM #1 will be worth less than what everyone pays for them in ninety days.

    Overprinted book of the decade.

+ 1 even the RRP summit has a high run . Larry do you know the summit book number 6000 ?
  5. General question: I know the market has its ups and downs for all kinds of different reasons. Right now it seems like the books listed below have been on the up-swing for years . Do you think that these keys will dip below the last 5 year price range? or are these current prices here to stay and going to continue on the upswing? Is this the wrong time to purchase these books ? any opinions are welcome and thanks !

    The major silver age keys:

    showcase #4

    x-men #1

    AMF #15

    JIM #83

    AMS #1

    Hulk #1

    TOS #39

I know this is the golden age form but Gator knows silver as well so no offense !

  6. Chew #1 had been increasing I'm price lately. With the voices being recorded I can only assume they'll go up even further!!!

Its Jeff he is buying all CHEW !

Damnit Paul! I <3 the books in your signature

thanks ! i have to update that sometime i got some new stunners ! i need to get the scanner thing right. bragnet is THE #1 CHEW hoarder ! he controls the market.
  7. Business agenda aside, I respectfully disagree with the conspired view, the reprinted redux cover is more dignified and more timeless in theme as a superhero 1st issue. Power added to powerman like never before. On the merits of visual appeal, I will take the reprint over the original, cheaper or not.

I just don't seem to understand you at all ! (shrug) Your logic in just about every thread you have made has been so out to lunch, are you a ten year old kid? or are you just that damn dumb? (shrug)

:screwy: reprint ?....? Over the original really ? Oh maybe because it looks new ?
  8. I have no doubt there are plenty of copies out there and I could save $ buying it later (or had I been smart and bought one before the hype).

The more important issue is how the seller handled his thread and potential customer.

Regardless it's over. I'll buy another copy sole other day.

wow ! 4 pages on this. Read the post right above yours in the thread .... That's when the 3 rd copy sold. The response from the seller of " one left ",was to him . He already claimed that book. The seller worked his prices way down and sent tracking out right away. His attitude might leave a little to be desired but it was not horrible. He needs a little work on his methods but appears to be a legit sale. This book will dip and rise a couple times but in general it's going to go over 200 bucks on the next surge. This character is very interesting. As for wallpapering your walls......good luck on that one. This Book won't go much under 100.00 and at that price it will sell like crazy.

HERE IS THE HYPE ! LOOK OUT GPA!

$261.00 with time left now that's HIGH !

The way that entire thread was handled was confusing. The sale may be legit, that's all well and good, but it's hard to imagine a thread where buyers had less clear indications of what available, when, for how much, etc.

As for the EBay book at $261....there are 2 guys who think it's more than $150. I suggest finding the underbidder and selling your copy to him. lol

One of the two bidders in that auction are going to dodge a MASSIVE bullet...when they lose out on that book.

Once the census bloats, because of sales like that one on Ebay, and people forget about their current love of the Winter Soldier flick, the market is going to be hard pressed to maintain sky high values with a census that's exploded by 10 to 100 times its current size.

I agree its hype as stated but still don't think when he is forgotten it will slip under a $100.00 and thread could have used better communication as stated. I picked up 2 of those for other people so sadly i can't flip them but if i was going to it would be to that under-bidder ! The one I love is the #14 that cover is just great !

Before the hype and speculation the bru cap was a wanted run, it will be a classic so if you can dig any of these from dollar bins its a good read !

  9. I don't know him and really am not on either side. but when he posted and mark 1 then put up the "ill take it" it was instant . He had no time and the book had sold from the post above. He should definitely clarify his rules but i think it was just inexperience and not shady ! He got slammed real quick with offers and PM's and mine went unread for a while so he probably was not living on the boards. I think the way he responded to mark was a little rough and communication could have been better and he will probably learn from this sale and get better.

  11. Anyone care to elaborate? are they RRP books or special one per store issues? Just never heard that term before .

Looks like it's similar to a RRP: "This variant edition was only given to major comic retailers as a preview to the first series."

most of them were given out at marvel retailer summits. So they're like convention variants. Convention variants you can only get if you're a retailer and buy tickets through diamond for the summit.

So kind of like RRP, but kind of not like RRPs because for the most part they weren't one per retailer.

Not a tier 1 per XXX number of regular covers variant. Just an artificial collectible made to give retailers a reason to attend the summits.

thanks!!! I got it now and always get them when I attend just never heard it called that. So the upcoming diamond summit in Vegas those giveaways are market books. I always just called them RRP's. learn something new everyday.
