  1. Dug out some remaining copies that I had for ha-has, here are the scans (the marks at the top of the both front covers are finger prints on the scanner ) I found 5 books, all have spine ticks, spine stress, and indentations.
  2. did you find that the defects were generally pressable? what were average grades (if you know) of books that you pulled out (that looked pretty good in the packaging)? thanks. I remember lots of spine tickets and color breaking creases. Some copies might have been pressable, if they made it safely from shipping to the consumer. The packages needed to be gently handled through shipping, stocking, being put on and pulled off racks (probably multiple times, I had to dig behind so many Bullseyes), and finally opened with care. That higher density plastic many of those toys came in had the potential to damage the comic while opening, not to mention that the comic bags were securely taped to the blister card. I suppose many 8.0-9.0 candidates, I don't think I remember anything higher than a 9.2. The comic's condition inside the sealed toy wasn't really on the list of things to look for, the toys were so hot that some even sold for more than retail out of the package (without the comic). I remember Colossus being very popular, as well as the X-Men & Spider-Man sets. Back then I didn't think anyone would be interested in those books, so most ended up in the bargain bins (classic). I think I have 1 or 2 left (AF15 and IH1 if I recall).
  3. I bought and sold the Marvel Legends line from 2005-2007 and it was very rare to find a pristine comic packaged with any of those action figures.
  4. The first comic shop I was a "regular" at was North County Comics near College Blvd. Oceanside, CA (right near a Ralphs or Vons grocery store if my memory serves me correct). I was around 8 years old when I first went there to get some comics, I picked up some X-Men Classics or Early Years (reprints of older books). My friend and I would compare comics or trade/borrow books, sometimes our folks would bring us together to get comics. His favorite was Spider-Man books with Venom or Carnage and I loved the X-Men (mostly Wolverine stuff, but I also had a great appreciation for comics history). We also were big into those Fleer trading cards, we had tons of them, most bought at North County Comics. The store didn't have much for back issues, mostly new comics and lots of War Hammer & dice games. There was an early ASM (#5?) hanging on the wall above the register, I don't think it was not for sale. The owner was an older gentleman, he wore glasses and was pretty quiet. When paying him for my books or cards he would make change with big roll of cash from his pocket instead of using the register. His store was always kept neat and organized, the last time I visited was probably 1997. I do not believe they are open anymore, google did not give me any results. Did anyone from the boards ever go to this store?
  5. Smooth transaction, great communication, and excellent packaging.
  6. Pleasure to deal with! Quick shipping and packaged well. Hope to buy again soon!
  7. I loved Lego as a kid, favorites were the knight/ Robin Hood sets and the pirate sets. My son is 1 and loves the Lego movie (I know, a 1 year old?), he has a Zoo set of Duplo and a bag full of Mega Blocks ( easier for his little hands). I fondly remember trying to build an x-Wing or Millennium Falcon with my uncle long before SW Legos were introduced.....we were definitely lacking some pieces.
  8. Here is my second coupon submission. Overall I am pleased, not sure what went wrong with X-Factor 15 though.... My first submission:
  9. I bought a nice copy of Hulk 200 from Greg Reece last year at Wizard World NYC and took it to Buckler's table (another artist who didn't have many people coming up to his booth throughout the day). I introduced myself and told him that I really appreciated his work/art. I asked for an autograph and also asked if he would mind if I had CGC witness the signing. He basically scolded me in a stern voice saying "Why? You know who I am. I know who I am. What does it matter if they witness the autograph?" I tried to explain that most of my autographed books are graded and certified for just that purpose....they are certified....and what if my kids don't like all these comics I'm saving for them? Where is the proof that he actually signed the book? He didn't care, he had made up his mind about me before I even had the chance to respond. At his request I didn't get the book graded or witnessed.
  10. Got back into the hobby in 2011 after taking a 5 year hiatus. I was looking for a safer place to buy books than eBay and somehow google brought me here. Upon realizing that this is a forum where many highly regarded dealers buy/sell and the plethora of comic knowledge present, I decided this was a good place to stick around.
  11. If Kraven can make it to New England before 8/8 he could make a Boston Comic Con appearance and I could try to get a photo with several boardies...
  12. Hi all, Can I be added to the list? I'd love to join in on Kraven's adventures.
  13. I had my doubts. I wasn't getting my hopes up this time, I told myself. Fox Sony ruined Spidey 3 by forcing Raimi into a story he didn't want to direct, and Fox ruined The Last Stand by not waiting for Singer to finish his Superman stint. Two of my favorite superhero trilogies had crappy endings (ahhh trilogies). It is very exciting for me to see all of these positive reviews. When The Last Stand was released I was disappointed, and when I saw Superman Returns I was even more disappointed. I used to think to myself "Singer left X-Men for that?! And all I got was Rush Hour 4!" (Don't get me wrong, I liked some of X3, but it wasn't nearly the same caliber as X1 or X2) Flash forward 8 years later and my prayers have been answered: Bryan Singer is back on the X-Men movies, and they are bringing back the old cast. AND now Rotten Tomatoes says that 91% of the critics like it, with 95% of movie-goers liking it. AND you guys are saying people are applauding at the end? My hopes are up.
