  1. The market makes little sense sometimes. So Syfy announces all these projects-Letter 44, Pax Romana, Ronin and this series:

    http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/01/syfy-developing-clone-from-walking-deads-robert-kirkman

Within 24 hours the market was pretty dry concerning all those mentioned above but Ebay is littered with Walking Dead 103 variants ( first Clone ). Out of all the announced series Clone seems to have the best chance. Also if Letter 44 can get optioned then what comic doesn't have a chance of getting a pilot? I'm hoping for this:

Obviously you haven't read Letter 44.

The first issue almost felt like the first couple episodes of the show "The Event" (which wasn't bad, but wasn't great, although I did enjoy watching it.)

  2. Good article but off. I think a lot of those early reboot issues are now in dealers back issue stacks. And as soon as they hit the reboot again the dealers loose money. If they want to play it like tv seasons then go that direction. What they are doing is feeding the hype machine and I think sooner or later retailers are going to stop feeding into their bs. I know a couple of retailers that cut back their orders on the new spider-man and the original sin books because of the super high print numbers and the excessive variants. Not a day later they received strong arm calls from diamond asking them if they where sure they wanted to cut back and that it was going to be a huge book . Those books will be a buck on eBay two weeks after launch and the variants will spike and then decrease. Marvel is horrible. I hope dc keeps the current reboot going.

    Agreed.

They print tones of #1's, and then 0.75-.0.5 % of #2, 3, 4, then start printing to demand.

What happens is, people try out the new issues, either like it or don't, and readership falls off since I'm assuming enough people think:

    1-I don't like this

    or

2- I like this, but not enough to get it on a regular basis./I'd get it if I had more money to spend on comic books.

Speaking of Original Sin, and other pre-orders, it's hard to say "yea" or "nay" to something when you have to order based on a solicite that looks like these:

    ORIGINAL SINS #1-2 (of 5)

    EVERYBODY HAS ONE...

    32 PGS. (EACH)/Rated T+ …$3.99 (EACH)

    Bonus Digital Edition Included

    or

    SILVER SURFER #4

    DAN SLOTT (W) • MICHAEL ALLRED (A/C)

    •TOP SECRET!!!

    CONFIDENTIAL!!!

    32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Or a pre-order for a variant where they release the art 2 weeks before release date.

  3. Marvel is in the comics selling business, not the back issue market business.
Yea ? your point? They are losing readers non stop with the reboots so i would say that their short term sales spikes are going to hurt them or should I say the print side of comics.

Also as Larry stated how many times are they going to get retailers to buy into the next big thing only to get burned over and over again... just an opinion !

I agree that the reboots and their lack of care for the secondary market impact their business whether they understand it or not. The people heavily promoting their books and movies and TV shows are old time collectors imo. Marvel will always be a fond memory for me as I grew up in what I consider their peak of art and storytelling. That wasn't enough to keep me mindlessly buying their products. I don't know whether I grew tired of capes ( though I still read Invincible and Injustice ) or if it was the rebooting that ran me off but I do know that they quit producing material I cared about, good or bad.

One major thing I find difficult to handle now, is figuring out what the "core" X-Men or Avengers titles are. (they tell us they ALL matter. haha).

Which ones matter vs which are just side stories/missions, extra books with difficult characters, what's "canon" (in the sense that , yes, it's mostly all, but some of the stuf KIND OF isn't, if you know what I mean).

Like when, around the time of a major Cross-Over or event, you have the X-Ponential X-Men, or the Admonishing Avengers off doing some mission that really doesn't fit with the timeline of events (and may not really seem to fit in logically anywhere).

I read the first couple Avengers World issues (we were told "it's a core book") only to find out that it's just them doing side-missions. It may be important in the future, but I'm thinking no more than yes.

From what I gather, the core books for these teams are:

    X-Men

    1-All-New X-Men

    2-Uncanny X-Men

    3-Wolverine and the X-Men

    Avengers

    1-Avengers

    2-New Avengers

    3-Uncanny Avengers

    Is this correct? Not?

    Search me, Chief. (shrug)

  4. Vamplets is hot on day 1. Does anyone think the ashcan from Halloween will heat up too ?

What's so special about this one compared to the series released last year?

    This looks awesome btw:

    lol

It does look fun. (thumbs u

I've got a few of these.

I think they have jimmy l's name all over them. lol

Definitiely reminds me of Jimmy. Good call (thumbs u

    \

Had never heard of this series. Totally ordered 2 copies as I thought it had potential. Looked fun/MINISCULE print.

  5. lol another week another tv/movie option. yawwwwnnnn

If you have read scalped you would know this one would make an amazing show. Read the first TPB and you will be hooked.

Pretty much any good comic that doesn't have TONES of special effects/wouldn't be too expensive to make is game to get picked up, in my opinion.

You gotta think what would make an awesome show/movie vs what doesn't cost a gagillion dollars and could/would REALISTICALLY be made.

From what I understand, scalped would be just a normal show, budget wise (I've never read an issue though).

  6. Deadpool #27 variants estimates on print runs.

    #26's print run was 44,141.

So the two 1:50 prints runs could be 882 assuming stores order 50 each which we know many stores do not order that many.

The 1:75 print run could be 588.

The 1:15 Variant could be 2942

Lets say half the comics stores order enough to get the big variants.

So the two 1:50 variants would be 441 print run.

The 1:75 variant would be a 294 print run.

Seems too low but how many stores actually order 50 to 75 copies of deadpool.

In my area of 8 comics stores only 1 ordered more than 50.

    Agree or disagree ?

I deffinetly noticed a lot more Deadpool #27 on the shelf than usual.

BUT, the cover price is $9.99, so I think that might detract some shops and buyers.

  7. That deadpool cover was 75.00 at my LCS so I passed

at mine it was $50 and was dinged up badly, safe to say I passed. IMO it will sit on the shelf for awhile

I have another shop that called me saying that they have a copy for me. Price is $49, which I think is pretty fair.

Hope it's in good condition. :wishluck:

  8. Also, Deadpool Taco Time variant. There are two sales, one of $200 and one at $320?

This is a 1:100 variant? This is stupid and one to wake up early for tomorrow.

I'm so pissed about this. I GENUINELY wanted to get it because it's an awesome cover, not to flip. I wake up early, drive my wife to work and take the car (usually it's the other way around), get tothe store 10 minutes after it's 9 AM opening (it's not busy at that time). And some already got to it. Was being sold for $18 as well.

    .

  9. Well I want to just kick myself in the sack, missed out on Manifest Destiny issue 1 when it came out, luckily I have the others. I have tried to snipe a copy of 1st print issue 1 and keep missing out. Last few that outbid me was in the 40-50 range.

I smell Peter Panzerfaust all over again! May have to suck it up and pay $50.00 for one.

the funny thing about MD - there is no talk of a tv show - but it continues to garner interest. All the previous "hot books" had all sorts of media chatter swirling around them. Sometimes a good comic book is just a good comic book.

It's because so far, it reads like a movie. (thumbs u

  10. Oops, we hijacked the thread.

    Manifest Destiny is HOT !

    Winter Soldier is HOT !

    Batman stays HOT !

The Wake is HOT, now it's not HOT now it's HOT

Yep. It's about like the weather here. If you don't like it, wait a few minutes and it will change.

Not sure where you live, but the weather has been terrible for five months here...it was snowing again today....I guess this is my life now, winter.

    Sounds like Ottawa.

  11. I have like NO time to go on here lately.

Quickly, what comics to look for/hot in the past 1-2 months?

(those who know my posting style, remember, if I have to read through all 50 or so pages I've missed, the next 30 will all be my responses )

I'll be at the Holiday Inn.

    I love you.

    Frank

  12. Man, I get ultra busy with work, and don't check the site for a few weeks, and all of a sudden there's some Canada-US thing going on??? I'll have to go read to see what this is all about. This is almost as disquieting as Jerry Jones dismantling my Cowboys.

Props to a fellow Cowboys fan! (thumbs u

I always cried when I heard of DeMarcus. He was hands down their best player.
