I paid $1900 for a painting of Batman on a Batman 1 blank he's doing it this fall

Ouch, his rates sure have gone up since I got mine. Can't blame him, though, when people flip his work on eBay for 2k+.

Will he depict a specific image at your request, or do you just say "Do a Spider-Man for me" and you get what you get?

    -J.

Both of mine were done with no input from me other than the character. Didn't even specify a costume.

Those are awesome... Congrats!!!!..  Love the details of these blanks compared to what he is putting out recently.

Thanks! And I agree with your assessments, Dell'otto did beautiful work on them and I love both dearly. :)

  3. She was intended to be about 12 or 13 in NYX 3 when she first appeared. At least the flashback bits with her being... um... working? And it was implied that she was ... again... um... working? for a few years after escaping the facility.

She's apparently about 16-17 now in All New Wolverine. So about 4 years of aging.

That's not quite correct. She was around 15 in NYX. In the current All-New Wolverine, she's probably around 19-20. Her exact age hasn't been stated, but we know she's not 21 yet and we also know she's 18-19+.

And she was indeed portrayed as a little child in that first "Innocence Lost" miniseries, although she was up to the start of her teen years by the time it ended and Laura escaped from the facility.

  4. People are putting up X-23 #1 Dell'ottos at crazy prices, I hope no one is buying them for that kind of money.

Why? People pay more for JSC and Dell Otto is a better artist, IMO.

Comic book prices are set by rarity and demand, etc, not by how good the art is. And I happen to think this book is wildly overpriced at prices of 1-2k. It's mostly speculators driving up prices on old X-23 books after Marvel made her "All-New Wolverine" recently.

Um, demand can be set by good art.

So, once again, why is it OK to pay $1-3k plus for a JSC book but not Dell Otto?

I didn't say it's not ok, I was just stating my opinion that it's a silly price and that if you wait, you can get it cheaper. But by all means, go ahead if you think otherwise. It doesn't hurt me if you make the copy I own more valuable.

  6. Love Dell'otto's art. He did one of the best among the million variants for DKIII as well:

Personally I only collect X-23 books so I only have a copy of the X-23 #1 (raw) that I'm hoping will turn into a 9.8 in a few months. Fingers crossed.

I also have these original art commission covers, though, both CGC SS:
