  1. How is that helpful? You are unhappy that I challenge your opinions (and the opinions of others) and disagree with you (and others). Then you make passive aggressive statements to improve the situation? I find it funny that the some of the so called veterans I am supposed to respect because they have been on this site for a long time are among the least mature of the bunch. You make statements, refuse to back them up and then deflect/evade any additional inquiry with snide remarks. I don't know which is the worse scenario: 1) the fact that you have no substance behind your "storied facade" -or- 2) the fact that you are extremely unwilling to share substance because someone doesn't take your word as gold Whichever one you are, both are unfortunate. Please note that these statements do not apply to everyone on this site, just the select few who know who they are. Thank goodness you've come to straighten us unfortunates out. Point proven. Thank you!
  2. Yep, that didn't go well here and there. I thought it ended well enough though. From what I observed, some people on this site just don't like to support their point of view. It appears to be mostly a take it or leave it mentality... Dude, you come on strong and you know it. That's cool, but don't act like you don't. I 100% own up to that and I know it is not a popular approach. However, I am far from the worst on the site and I am definitely not mean.

  5. You're very testy for a noob. Mint is someone who gives a lot to this community of anonymous chat forum yappers. You seem to be ripping old members new holes often. Might be a tactic you want to rethink. Just sayin' Fair feedback. However, I recommend you look back at the conversation history. I am rarely the first to escalate and I wasn't in this case. It isn't unreasonable to question people's posts, especially the controversial and polarizing ones. It also isn't unfair to ask for information to back up opinions. I value experience and insight, but only when it is more than just prose. Healthy tension happens here quite frequently and to everyone. Longevity doesn't preclude one from discussion. While everyone might not like my approach, it is not as if I attack people outright (joking posts aside). However, like everyone else on this site, I poke back. How was anything he mentioned polarizing? You were the one who tried to sum up his long post with the following: "Not everything you see on eBay is illegal". When did he ever say that? Escalation = you. This is ridiculous. I challenged a post because I felt the statement was polarizing (see below). The poster responded defensively and did not provide any additional support to solidify their position. From there I stated opinions are not statements of fact. They got pissed and basically told me they don't care. I responded that soapboxing doesn't help. This is a polarizing statement: It is inflammatory, subjective observation and bias. I don't give a if you invented the internet and were the first member of this site. Everyone who speaks in any public forum is subject for questioning. If their opinions are so valid and experience so invaluable, then there should be a plethora of information to provide as substantiation. If they don't have it, their opinion is bunk. If they do have it and choose not to provide it, they don't have a right to whine. If they do provide it, I will read it and the discussion will continue. Simple as that. Everything else is just noise.

  7. Typical of DC collectors--they talk the talk but rarely walk the walk. I take exception to that comment. With fewer of them, it's not surprising that you don't get the frequency of sales, especially at conventions where prices tend to me throttled-up a tad to capture the impulse buyers. I've rarely ever gotten a book I needed for a bargain at a convention. But it's a heck of a lot of fun to do it when you do. There's less of us, and fewer books to choose from. So maybe because of that we're a little more selective about what we buy and what pay for it. My point is that the general gist of this thread is that the price of B&B 28 is skyrocketing and you literally can`t pay enough for it. But when copies are actually available for sale, there`s only the sound of crickets from all the B&B 28 cheerleaders.
  8. I am not sure I follow your logic. Regardless, I am not sure it inspirational to potential collectors.
  9. Not everything you see on eBay is illegal and just because you don't like the result doesn't mean it wasn't legit. Yes, it's just because I don't like the price. Obviously, I was NEVER asked to manipulate auction data, right? Are you serious? This is an extremely SPECULATIVE item, nothing more. Come see me in twenty five years when the seller can't get half that for the book. We agree on this book 100%, it won't be worth a tenth of what it is now in 5 years. I was just responding to the fact that your comment read more like "conspiracy theorist" than "experienced dealer." Not saying you are one or the other, I don't know you. I never mentioned a date of five years. That being said, you are welcome to classify me any way you want as long as it makes you feel better. I could care less either way. I know, you said twenty-five, I said five. Great to know you have enough self-esteem that you are not hung up on some random person's comments. (thumbs u You are missing the point of my comment entirely. Unfortunately, like many others on this board, you post a ridiculous polarizing statement and when questioned about it you get defensive and evasive with your responses. You added zero value to this conversation other than soapboxing. Kudos!
  10. Why are prices going to EXPLODE? He is a great character and I am a fan of the books, but NM98 is already taking in quite a bit of dough for how common it is... Movie speculation? Word of mouth campaign? Free sticker program? movie and videogame speculation. Also I am willing to bet that buying $5000 dollars worth of NM 98s will be more profitable then buying one low grade AF#15 for $5000 at the end of the next 5 years. Any thoughts? High risk, high reward. All depends on that movie. Exactly. If Deadpool can pull off a Wolverine type box-office at the theatres, then you will have a high reward! Let's say the movie is a MEGA hit. Still not sold that his character has the right appeal to people of all ages (particularly young kids) necessary for long-term sustainable growth. Is your point that it will create a bubble (i.e. prices will swell leading up to the movie and bust post DVD release)? There are over 1,000 9.8s and over 1,000 9.6s in the registry, with virtually 10,000 more waiting to be subbed in similar grades (book was only printed in 91')... Movie or not, the book is definitely over-valued already. How much upside do you think there is? Not saying there isn't money to be made here, there is. But I highly doubt it is a book that will appreciate to the level of other already well established keys (as presumed by previous posters).

  13. I almost had a deal! I guess I did alot better than I thought. I'm glad I didn't miss the boat on this book. Sell now before it leaves the dock!

Also, I will be buying that game. Also, also, what happens if the $5000 worth of NM98s are worth $2500 in five years? Will you make up the rest in cash?

  16. Yep, I would be happy to buy it from you for $1500 - that is a 25% profit!
  17. Anyone attend Eastman's session today at SDCC?
  18. Dang-it, it had dropped back a page or two and you revived it. Let this thread die!
  19. Photobucket decided to change the way files are named breaking this link, so I'm reposting it and at the same time giving the thread a Great book! Under-appreciated, hard to find, ultra cool Mega key!
  20. It is a "highly viewed" but rarely purchased item from what I was seeing. I saw it come out of the cases a number of times, but didn't see anyone walk away with one. Even the lower grade 3.5 - 4.5 slabs I saw were priced VERY aggressively. Of course, at SDCC that is expected.
