  1. Wow ! I'm telling you, best month I can remember from a buying perspective. What was that book bringing before the movie hype ? That seems pretty cheap even for a down period imo. I think typically people buy things for others in December, or have other expenses. Either way they either have less or choose to spend less on themselves. And I think most comics, especially CGC or other key collector comics are things you buy for yourself. Either way, December is not a good time to run reserveless options on the 'bay "Run Reserveless", Thats genuis my friend

You are absolutely right. Best couple of months even. BUT If this is the beginning of some sort of a crash then these are probably bad books to invest in UNLESS you need them for your PC When they heated up this was anywhere from 100-200, majority being 150
  3. Really cant believe that I sold 3 of these for 150.00/each in less than 2 days when they heated up a few months ago http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERMAN-THE-MAN-OF-STEEL-18-CGC-9-8-WHITE-PAGES-1ST-FULL-APP-OF-DOOMSDAY-/322350367932?hash=item4b0d9444bc:g:p7UAAOSwj85YRbT~
  4. Yes! This thread is essential for understanding modern newsstand price variants! Alot of good info there minus a few lost pages of entertainment :-D
  5. Love me some Patsy Walker books. The thing with those though is to make sure the paper dolls are not cut off the interior. Patsy & Hedy #110 was a big seller got me for the longest time mainly because of the Elvis reference among other pop icons. Until a seller on eBay found a warehouse with close to 100 high grade copies of the sucker and saturated the market.
  6. Awe man, I am drooling over those Patsy Walkers. Great find. I am sure you are in awe, but Aww man, is probably what you are looking for. Sorry. Just I recently had to get a facebook account and it makes me cringe. Awe is a name. You awe him an apology
  7. Yup.. And with a nod to the first issue's cover it probably makes it a bit more sought after. Tough black cover to boot
  8. I almost started a thread about this but knew it would end badly. (This may end badly.) I try to call people by the names they signed up with and feel that is respectful...call them what they indicated is their "name". People call me by my name here often and I usually think "who is this Sean person?". It may be because I chose "bird" very carefully, very purposely reclaiming a nickname when I signed up here that I had lost when I went away to college. It ain't no thang in the long run but it gets my goat occasionally. over Now that I think of it, there are quite a few people I know here (quietly walking back to my cave)
  9. I can but will take the secret to the grave! Dont tell them what I do though or else Ill never hear the end of it!! I just assumed pool boy with a trust fund. lololol if only it was pool weather over here!!

  11. There seems to be a little bit of a confusion between collectors and fans here The target market for these key books IS the FAN market. Those are the ones that want an IH 181 to frame on the wall, gift for their hubby, or a simply own an affordable copy. Today they will gladly pay up to $50 for a replica if youre buying these to sell to collectors youre missing the big picture If youre buying these to slab youre missing the big picture If youre buying these thinking these will be "HTF 2nd print variants" youre missing the big picture Ill prolly get 10-20 and sell them slowly for 10/pop within the next year
  12. OK heres one that never gets mention here.. Not HUGE but I can never find one in the market... Even though I found a few #1s around
  13. There was a time when I sold those for $10 at shows and $18 on Amazon. Regularly. Those days are long gone though seems the likely path for any reprint produced in current age, cheap out of the gate, slight boost as the sell out from primary market, long slow decline as the secondary market becomes flooded. You cant really tell how such a popular book's reprint will play out in the long run. IH181 Hasbro & MM reprints were ALWAYS good sellers for me. Regularly selling for 40-50 on amazon. And quick. This new reprint will def bring more sellers to amazon and possibly flood the market.

  15. Not exactly... These 2 will be dead on arrival whereas there was good money on NM98 true believer when it hit since it was the 1st affordable replica of that book I think the 181 could be a $5 bill just because of the cover replication. Wolverine #1 is still fairly affordable. Just curious, why would anyone pay $5 for this when it can be had for $1 or less from LCS or online retailers such as Midtown? Or would the price increase occur after stock from normal sources have dried up? Theres your answer

Wolverine #1 is still fairly affordable. Maybe, maybe not.. What is certain thogh is that the Hasbro and MMilestone reprints will certainly take a hit now
  17. That is true. People often forget how treacherous the waters surrounding Manhattan and the ports are. Lot's of horror and shipwrect stories. Makes the building of all the bridges 50-150 yrs ago even more impressive. The waters around this area are still pretty gross. There is still a slick, greasy feel to the water.

  19. I've found raw 9.8's of $200-$250 books in dollar bins, slabbed em and sold em. It happens *(of course that's slabbed price, not raw price) I'm sure you have, it's just not that surprising if you don't. also, this is a book that's worth something raw in 9.2 as well, so it's even harder to slip through the cracks. there are plenty of books that go for $250-$300 in 9.8 that are not books of any real value outside of a 9.8 / 9.6 slab and if you can snag the super nice copy in the wild... These are all books that my LCS and many dealers at shows would likely price at $1-$3, maybe $4, regardless of whether they were NM or NM/Mint. They are all books I have bought in NM in $1-$2 boxes and I don't think they were in the box because the seller didn't think they were sharp enough to slab, just that they were issues not worth considering slabbing in any condition: http://www.ebay.com/itm/INCREDIBLE-HULK-345-CGC-9-8-WHITE-MCFARLANE-COVER-ART-HIGHEST-GRADED-COPY-/122178409299?hash=item1c72669353:g:fY8AAOSwpLNX~h8T http://www.ebay.com/itm/SILVER-SURFER-Limited-Series-1-CGC-9-8-Moebius-cover-art-Exquisite-copy-/131977445328?hash=item1eba77ffd0:g:dBkAAOSwn7JYCYRm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Superboy-231-CGC-9-8-1977-Legion-of-Super-Heroes-Highest-Grade-Fatal-Five-/301673077735?hash=item463d1ddbe7:g:KM0AAOSwyQtVjhWp http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-TWO-IN-ONE-ANNUAL-7-CGC-9-8-THANOS-AVENGERS-INFINITY-WAR-MOVIE-KEY-ISSUE-/371732686268?hash=item568cfea5bc:g:yC4AAOSwRGlXp4cN http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spiderman-210-CGC-9-8-John-Romita-Jr-Madame-Web-free-shipping-/262714902944?hash=item3d2b0749a0:g:4cEAAOSw44BYK5d0 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Judge-Dredd-1983-Eagle-Quality-1-CGC-9-8-1360555014-/131936001688?hash=item1eb7ff9e98:g:7qoAAOSwMgdX1Z4Z http://www.ebay.com/itm/WHAT-IF-105-CGC-9-8-1ST-APPEARANCE-OF-MAYDAY-PARKER-SPIDER-GIRL-WHITE-PAGES-/142156540823?hash=item211930ab97:g:LpAAAOSwzaJX9D6n http://www.ebay.com/itm/WONDER-WOMAN-63-CGC-9-8-WP-SCARCE-IN-HIGH-GRADE-BOLLAND-1st-COVER-COMIC-KINGS-/162022093687?hash=item25b944f377%3Ag%3APWgAAOSwJQdW-ndq&nma=true&si=MWCRhdvf4M7KTm6zum%252BQIQzvOBc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Conan-the-Barbarian-26-CGC-9-8-Rare-Early-Bronze-in-MT-Best-Copy-470-Value-/112190441283?hash=item1a1f124743:g:D1cAAOSw8w1X5Dqn And seriously, if my shop got a perfect copy of this book he'd probably price it at 75-100% of guide and stick it up on the wall, and he'd be giving away $2700+ in the process apparently: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-149-CGC-9-8-WHITE-PAGES-1ST-APPEARANCE-OF-SPIDER-MAN-CLONE-/332036001760?hash=item4d4ee34fe0:g:ZucAAOSwiONYLiAN The problem with this list is that (for the most part) these books were just feeling lucky (enter Eastwood meme here). I can list you a bunch of non key books such as these that were 200-300 books in 9.8 at some point and today are around the 100.00 mark Here are a few: ASM annual 21, longshot 1, Spider-Woman 1 (1978), X-Factor 24 Sometime they can even end like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-330-Todd-McFarlane-CGC-Graded-9-8-Near-Mint-Mint-Marvel-/331992671859?hash=item4d4c4e2673:g:8WYAAOSw9N1VyOoH
