Check out the Mile High Comics web site.
Many of the Church books from the 1950s are probably lost forever. In the beginning, Chuck was not promoting his find as a "pedigreed" collection. Aside from the fresh inks and white pages, the Atom Age books often bore little resemblance to the the true Golden Age material. In fact, about half of the Atlas books (including most of the Journey Into Mystery and Strange Tales issues) were in the VG to FN range -- and quite inexpensive, relative to the NM/NM+ books from the well-known GA titles. The early Atlas buyers really had no reason to treat their purchases as anything special.
This is what I was thinking.
I am sure a lot of the original buyers of the early Marvel Tales and Strange Tales didn't realize at the time what they had and there is no doubt some are lost forever. It is unfortunate as hell as I would love to see them reassembled.
