You don’t just “call in” the FBI. Even if something falls into their jurisdiction, they have to decide to run with a case based on their internal guidelines, priorities, and manpower. A couple million dollars is pocket change compared to a lot of crimes out there.  It doesn’t mean local police or another agency wont pick it up, but the more info CGC can learn first, the better.

I made this statement earlier in the thread
the result of CGC's lack of QC has made this problem greater than it normally would be
issues with incorrect labeling, poor quality in terms of the case (newton rings), poor shipping practices has increased the # of reholders they have to process thus creating a volume that is difficult for CGC's QC to take the necessary steps to prevent this problem from occurring
if the volume was lower, then more time could be spent inspecting reholders, but because they are getting so many slabs that need to be fixed, they skipped that step in order to keep up with a demand that they themselves created

This absolutely can be done. The video game grading company WATA has been doing this since they first started grading games. They would take pre-grading pictures (if it is an open box) of the game itself, box, any posters or inserts if available, etc. front and back. If the game is sealed, they take pictures front, back, and all sides. I believe only the original submitter can view the pre-grading pictures.
If WATA can do it with more components coming from a game, then CGC absolutely can. CGC can also include specific pictures of any special inserts like a MJ or maybe the section where a missing page was.

I don't think that is what we were discussing. But sure. The only thing they are worried about is how to spend the least amount of money to make this go away.
