  1. Love this book. Would be a great upgrade from my 2.0 but not in the cards right now.
  2. I hear ya. I have as well. I got back into collecting in 2011 and only recently (last few years) have started to go after minor keys and interesting books from the golden age. I've been able to grab some on my want list but in looking back, I went about this all wrong. With reintroducing myself in 2011, I started on bronze and some silver, only moving into GA later on. If I could have a do over, I'd have grabbed GA and silver keys back then, and saved everything else for now. Honestly, it took me a long time to truly appreciate GA, and now that I have, I've been mostly priced out. My bad.
  3. Great job with your recent magazine sales thread. Books arrived in a timely manner and were firmly secured in the packaging. Excellent!
  4. If no one already took this one, I'll take it. Tough to dig through the thread at this point so I may have overlooked a take here.
  5. I'm glad it didn't get to 10 because I made a deal with myself I'd sell if it hit 10. Nostalgia for me so I really didn't want to sell.
  6. Is that GC's FMV values or the actual most recent sales data? In my opinion, the FMV number is useless..
  7. Yeah, I tend to agree with you. 9.8 is an entirely different beast these days. I think we've reached a point where a subgroup of collectors/investors just have to have the highest graded copy. A friend of a friend is one of those guys who collected as a kid and just got back into the hobby two years ago. He grew up on Masters of the Universe, Transformers, etc.. And he's one of those guys who just has to have 9.8 slabbed books. 9.6s? No. Lower grade solid investments from GA or SA? Not a chance. Granted, we're talking about a collector who will buy moderns in 9.8 for 1-2k a pop, so not a comparison here to the collectors who are going very big, as we just saw with the MS 5. But, I think there may be more of these "9.8 or bust" collectors out there than we think. Just my two-cents.
  8. What would be interesting to see would be the number of incoming subs of spotlight 5s from this point forward.
  9. Damn, is the pull of having the highest graded copy of a book that strong? I could see it for a key GA book, but a bronze?
  10. If it sells, I'm sending my copy up tomorrow
  11. I'm still kicking myself for not ponying up an additional $200 for a 9.4 copy two years ago. The difference between a 9.2 and 9.4 now is ridiculous. No idea the spread would ever get that big.
  12. Unfortunately, we can't buy everything although many of us would if we had unlimited capital. Personally, once I saw prices shooting up exponentially, I bailed out on many of my want list items and changed direction, working on other books that aren't currently being eyed by hundreds of others. The strategy has worked out pretty well thus far. Still, going forward, I probably will try to obtain some of those want list items via cash/trade deals rather than bidding on auction books.
