Agreed. Based on the cert numbers these books were all recently graded. I'm thinking the same; that grading has gotten more lenient. And that's what's confusing here. The standard shouldn't change. I have a few late 60s Marvels with similar (but lesser) corner and wear defects than the Iron Man 4 that are all 8.5 grades.

After seeing the grade on that book, I started thinking about sending my AF 15 down for regrading.

That makes sense. it would be great if someone from CGC could document the process they use for verification for these types of situations. This would eliminate some of the guesswork and speculation.

So basically, CGC took the submitter's word for it that the book was in fact a Mark Jewelers'. That seems like a very bad business practice if you ask me, particularly because it would have implied that the submitter had to crack the book to verify the insert. It should have raised at least one red flag at CGC, I would have thought. Then again, it's a volume business, right? Just move 'em out.

I can see setting this as a best practice would certainly eliminate the problem.

Excuse my ignorance here. I haven't submitted anything to CGC in the past five years so I'm sure things have changed, but didn't they do a check and possibly regrade a book when it came in for reholdering? I distinctly recall having conversations with other collectors on the topic of reholdering and some were always hesitant about sending certain books in for reholdering fearing they'd risk receiving lower grades. Have CGC practices changed? Or is it true that a reholder never initiated a check on the book in the case? Thanks, guys.

My only claim was on a book lost by FedEx coming back from CGC. CI gave me full replacement value and turned the claim around in 6 days. As for fee structure, I can tell you I have 200K in coverage for which I am charged 1K per year

To me, the vid is a result of a guy who has no idea how how either Clink or MCS works. He's misleading people, plain and simple.

Contact them and let them know what you have for trade. They will probably make you an offer or, give you $$$ on credit for your consignments, which you can apply towards the book.
