  1. ... I like that EOW is intricate and not straight forward at all, but I think that might be a detractor to the average person.

(thumbs u Same feeling here. Hickman's chronology and process on this (and some of his other work) makes the read intriguing to me, but I can see where some could stray if it's not their thing. No each their own.

  2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EAST-of-WEST-Blank-VARIANT-Sketch-Cover-Issue-4-IMAGE-/251304807504?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a82ef0c50

Sketch by an ebayer (not me), though by the description in the auction they don't understand the book very well, and Death is portrayed kind of oddly. Nonetheless, pretty nice work otherwise. (thumbs u

There aren't any bids on it yet, but I'm not sure about the rules on posting current auctions here. If a mod feels the post should be deleted, no worries. Don't want to step on any toes

  3. All of my Blank covers also have the same "infamous #4 crease" starting on the 2nd, full-color cover.

(I'm sure everyone knows about this, but Image apparently always does the double covers for their blanks now, as TWD 109 is the same.)

The outside blank covers are just peachy though!

  4. While everyone I have spoken to in-person about EoW loves it, I still wonder how much of these runs are indeed eaten up by speculators. I guess given my 2-3x pulls of each #, a couple Ghosts and an RRP, I'm a small-pimpin' speculator, but I'm not expecting the success of Saga for this book, for a few reasons - but that's not my point. I really enjoy the book, and if I happen to be able to make a little chunk of change in a couple years on my extra pulls then that's just icing on the cake.

I'm REALLY hoping Dragotta and/or Hickman are at C2E2 next year. Being in the Midwest and not rich, I'm not really in any position to jump on a plane to the coast for a con.

  5. Just thought I would add this. Issue 6 is only a month after 5 so not really much of a break and 6 looks like the Ranger's first appearance. Might want to give It a look.

The Ranger first arc will undoubtedly be badass. #4 was the action I expected, and more.

  6. But the first guy did use the word lot that's the point and whatever link you posted is useless

if you don't want to hear people hopes and opinions on a book maybe you shouldn't be in the forums

My previous post is in agreement with everything you just wrote. ^^

Looking forward to all opinions on #4 and I hope everyone stocking up makes out well when the market turns up. :juggle:

  7. Long story short on these ebay auctions that are eating up this thread:

    http://Support-the-Collectors-Society.com/itm/EAST-OF-WEST-1-IMAGE-COMIC-BOOK-1ST-PRINT-LOT-HICKMAN-DRAGOTTA-2013-NM-/281125809814?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4174676e96

1 Lot. This guy wouldn't have 100% positive feedback if he used the word "Lot" and it wasn't.

EACH. The seller sold 8 books at $9.99 each. There are 8 books in the photo. At no point is the word "lot" used.

    ------------------

Now can we please stop worrying about how first print #1s of this book are selling for a just couple issues? It's early for EoW. Wait until the Trade comes out. It's a great book. Let's just not get all excited over $5 profits just yet.

  8. Its seriously like a never ending supply every time i get something off their site

I add one to the order

Same here - I wonder when they will finally run out.. It's already been about 3.5 months since #1 came out.. hm

  9. There's still 1 blank variant up on ebay at cover (plus shipping) it looks like. There was another seller at the same price, but after selling 14 at cover they upped it to $9.99 for the remaining.

Neither are my listings - just looking out for fellow EoW lovers. Can't believe Midtown sold out overnight.

  10. Strange there are so many different crease defects on this run. Perhaps they used a different print house, or different paper supplier/brand.

I enjoyed the story of #3. A solid building issue. Looking forward to the next, as usual. Now... to catch up on reading the pile of other new titles I've neglected thus far.

  11. This is just my opinion but I tend to think if someone doesn't like a book its very easy to say its confusing. That way they don't have to come out and say I don't like it because I don't like it.

    I haven't read #3 yet but I'm digging this story. (thumbs u

Why would anyone be worried about saying they don't like a book?

Its just an excuse to say I don't like it cause it was too confusing.

    Huh?

Your original post said that people who didn't like it would prefer to say "it's confusing" than "I don't like it", right? I'm asking why people would prefer to appear stupid than to simply say "I don't like it". Your post above makes it look like you're saying people who are confused would prefer to pretend that they aren't confused, they just don't like it.

Now I am confused - which may have been what you were aiming for in a very meta way.

    Well played.

    INCEPTION CONFUSION zzz:makepoint:

  12. Just read #3 last night. Anybody else have a Printing error on the inside "title" page (approx. inside pg 4-5 I think?) Both my pull copies have a straight vertical crease running the length of the book in the same spot.

Not really worth it to make a fuss at the shop, and of course I didn't open the bag and board (free on Wed) to double check.

Wondering if my books were just part of a bad lot or if the whole run had this.

  13. IMO Hickman is one of the best modern comic writers. After reading a few of his titles his storytelling timeline is often repeated - but rarely dull. His allusions and final page cliffhangers are enough to look forward to next month... not too much.

As for the earlier comment about Joe Casey - I've read Sex #1 and #2, and probably won't be reading 3 or later. There's a story there - but he's given us so little in 2 issues that I don't foresee spending another $10 on 3 more issues just to get to some "important" answer. It could turn around, but to keep me on it needs to quicken the pace a bit. We've all seen lady bits before... I need substance.

    :signofftopic: I know

  14. Wouldn't that scruff away at the page or rub away the outside surface of he cover?

A kneaded eraser would be a safer option over a mechanical pencil eraser. Also, the ink stains are on the back cover, which is white, so there's nothing to rub off but the stains.

Also, I assume he wouldn't rub the eraser on the cover madly like he's trying to start a fire, because that would def scruff the page no matter what he used.

Believe me - I'm looking into all the options very cautiously. Not about to start rubbing like mad without all the info I can get :P And even if I do attempt it - it will be VERY carefully. There is a small amount of light rub on the front near the staple (thin area probably a quarter inch in length), and a very minimal amount on back - but nothing like the infamous ebay copy. Probably not even enough to worry too much about, but I'm toying with the idea of testing a small spot LIGHTLY to see the effects.

I will likely attempt on an old reader copy of Pax Romana and see how that works first.

  15. :gossip: Let me know if you're successful using a kneaded eraser. I'm still in the market for a copy; the ink rub issue I keep seeing has held me back from making a purchase.

Yeah, I haven't read up enough on it to effectively make the call whether I want to try it out or not yet. Just a thought I had...

Is a KNEADED the way to go ya think?

  16. Finally got around to reading #1-2, and glad I did. It would be good if Joe Casey could read these books and get an idea of how to set up a story so the first issue draws you in and makes you NEED to read the second. I read Bounce a few days ago and got a very "meh" feeling from it, much like I did with his other book Sex. But Hickman knows how to tell a story and suck a reader in. Can't wait for #3!

Wow, do I agree 100% with this! I don't even understand the purpose of bounce. East of West is terrific though. Come on number 3!

    Double Quoted for Truth.

I picked up my copy of the RRP over the weekend at a little over a hundo for a 9.2 ish. Pondering the "mechanical pencil eraser trick" to get rid of some ink rub... Damn you Hickman with your stark white covers!!! :ohnoez:
