Opening credits showed a good sign

The more new characters that are introduced, the more I ponder how Death will end up killing them.

Has anyone ever read the "East Meets West" comics from 2011?
I haven't read them but based on the covers and titles, it's difficult to not draw comparison. I almost want to order a set just out of curiosity.

Were those direct commissioned pieces (9x12 ish?) or what?

Hickman's scribble sig is rubbing off on Nick!

I like how the PRA still looks like California.. With widely expanded borders.

Maybe we would do better in the WD thread? still looking so if anybody gets a lead please let me know. Thanks!

Any boardies offering up the Dragotta WD books from image expo? I know its a few days away... Just trying to plan ahead.
-
Anyone else keeping an eye on that RRP finishing today? 9.6 double signed and sketch/remark...
Yeah, hope a boardie got it... I'm sure they did. Beat me out by $20... but I probably shouldn't spend $270 right now anyways!! Congrats to whoever got it.

Nothing too crazy, but my EoW slab stash:

I'm sticking with my PS3 at least until Watchdogs comes out for PS4. (Summer 2014 )

regardless of where people's different allegiances fall, i do think Ghost has the right formula to maintain value and desirability.
when variants become too common, they are self defeating.
Agreed and I like the EoW Ghost cover. I just wish they would have done the full picture like in the black and white print.
BTW... I just realized the other day that the RANGER is on the cover of the Ghost variant... with his doggie backpack. I thought it was Death all this time and never really looked at it closely after first look... UNLESS Death takes the dog??

We definitely like to talk about East of West a lot more… even if it IS comparing it to Saga 90% of the time.

I just think this book is a completely different book than Saga. Saga is way easier to get into, while this one is way more layered and complex.
Not sure why but I suddenly started reading this in Mike Myers Schrek voice.
Or Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons... anything involving defending a book sounds funnier.

I'm guessing this argument will still be going on when this thread gets 1,000 pages.

The forbidden planet variant is also going to be the sleeper book for this series. Its been said before, but its only got a print run of 1000, making it just half as rare as the saga rrp. Glad I've got ten copies each of the ghost variant, forbidden planet, and five RRP's either slabbed and stashed away, or at cgc waiting to come back. I'll probly hold on to them until the book hits issues 12-15, and even then, I'm probably keeping half of them to line my casket with. I'm a collector, not a profiteer.
From a historical perspective that just doesn't seem likely.
Look at Invincible #1 - regular #1s in 9.8 sell in the $300-400 range whilst the #1 Larry's Edition (with a tiny print run compared to the regular #1) sell for about $50-60 in the same grade.
I can't think of a single example where a store variant has retained any sort of decent value compared to an RRP or a regular #1
Uh-oh... Where's Larry, busting in here?
*waitforit....*
You can find quite a few Larry's #1 on his site just hanging out. I think Ghost and Forbidden Planet has gathered a better reputation for Variants as of late, and the art really shows. Ghost is relatively new, and has been cranking out some great work.

Same seller... 4 raw copies of the RRP sold on Ebay.. what?

IMHO It will be great if they wrap up the "Flu" Arc and move into a Governor arc at least... leading up to the first Abe episodes.

WTF is up with your LCS's? >
All 5 shops in my area (within 45 mins) only order 2nd prints when their first prints are basically depleted or if they really think they can sell them... and 115 was VERY heavily ordered from what I've seen on the shelves still.
-
OMFG... Blue with that many sigs on the outside of the slab... YUCK
-
Kinda funny when that happens... except when it's to you. Crazy to see what prices were like even 2-3 years ago on WD.

Yes I did are kidding me??!?!
Is this for real?????
IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?

i tell my self that same thing when i make a dumb purchase it happens all the time i say Mark your fat just ate a saga #1 ss for take out last week then you smoked a RRP worth of bud last month.
I'm moving into a new place in a couple months.... having a hard time accepting that $ and lack of space will be a factor in keeping my comic habit up. Bargaining between going out to dinner less or buying less comics is a constant struggle. I may end up unloading a few sets of East of West then, but by god I'm holding onto the RRP for as long as possible unless prices get crazy.
