  1. I heard that on Court TV. I really don't like ebay anyway. I think they are a garbage company with poor policies for the individual seller. And I always recommend everyone I talk to not to do business with them.
  2. Yeah he is the most entertaining and uses that line "great pieces make great collections." Simple but true. It sounds like they have a few viewers at the auction. It might be an entertaining lot. I'm just going to be satisfied with this. And of course finding a good cel and original background. Searching for that original Dragon's Lair poster art pencil work that was posted on the previous page. I did find someone who put that drawing in a development archive on what I call "The Archive." They also have Dragon's Lair II and Space Ace development materials. Might be worth a look for some. https://archive.org/details/RetroGameArtbooksAndIllustrations
  3. Thanks. In that walk though of the museum, Frank Jr said something about another location or how someone else has other items. I did find the other museum in Florida. I guess I'll check both out one day. I see from the video another son has an area with paintings as well. But it doesn't look like it's a museum and viewable to the public. At least he doesn't have it on the Frazetta Costumes website. I know I talked with one of the sons a long time ago. But this was before that video and the problems.
  4. I think the opening castle image is another top piece. That link might have the original painting. I know they released a run of signed prints too. What's the idea? I posted these before in the limited prints topic. But because there are so few movies with good sequels. Or even trilogies. I like when poster artists come up with posters like these. I want to see something like this for Dragon's Lair. Somehow incorporate the favorite sections of the castle of the first game with the more adventure hopping element of the second game. Daphne would probably be the key uniting character since she's captured in both games.
  5. I'm terrible when it comes to estimates on items that I don't have previous reference. Many times I'm shocked when something rare turns up and bidding gets crazy. I was thinking about starting a topic on how to determine original art prices without previous reference. But anyway, I don't think there are many video games out there that had movie poster style advertisements. Right now I can only think of a few Capcom fighting games. And I'm even worse on items that I have nostalgia for. It turns into one of those I need to get it at all costs. But I'm lucky that I haven't seen many of those auctions to get into yet. Still for me, I would put my money towards an original cel and background over the poster artwork. There are some great scenes in the game. Seems like everyone here so far is in the other Heritage topic too. But here is that link of Dragon's Lair cel collectors that I posted over in the Heritage topic. http://www.dragonslairfans.com/collectors/collectors.htm I saved an interview with Don Bluth back when he was doing the Kickstarter or Indie project for a new Dragon's Lair. I still need to watch it. Also, I downloaded a PDF of an old magazine with a Space Ace cover I owned back then. I do wonder how much of the animation Don Bluth worked on in Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. I've read about the lead or key animators only doing the planning drawings and then major scenes in animation. Also some of the start or ending scenes. With this animation stuff, I don't think it matters much if it came directly from the lead animator. I think the scene itself is the most important part. If I could get cels and backgrounds from the opening of G.I. Joe, I wouldn't be concerned if the lead animator did it or not. Especially since I think the majority of modern cels had the line work copied over from the original pencil art. I believe Don Bluth sold some pencil sketches with that Kickstarter project. But I can't remember how well they sold.
  6. Here it is. http://www.dragonslairfans.com/collectors/collectors.htm A bit down in the link for "Jason Finn's Dragon's Lair Museum" which is pretty amazing to see.
  7. Some were talking about the book here. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/466942-frazetta-facts/?tab=comments#comment-11230362 I'm interested in the format of the new book as well. I know they made I think 3 versions of those old Frazetta books. Icon, Legacy, and Testament. I think those are what people would consider the reference Frazetta books. I own the slipcased versions. But I can't remember if the top version was even bigger. I'm fairly sure it came in a clam shell type case and was very expensive. But I only glimpsed it once. I guess it's time to search ebay and see.
  8. I see you guys are talking about this here. I just started a topic for it. I know we were talking about video game artwork a while back. And I did the fairly recent topic with Japanese video game original artwork. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/470163-dragons-lair-space-ace-original-poster-artwork-on-heritage/ I think the newer cels are ok compared to the older Disney stuff that could catch fire in the wrong conditions. And of course provided that you store the cels correctly. But people here deal with original artwork and know how to store items. I saved some images from a collector that posted a room full of Dragon's Lair cels and backgrounds. I think they were posted on either the Dragon's Lair or Laser Disc forums. I'll see if I can dig those out and post. And of course there are these videos that walk though some nice cel collections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkLU5kffkSw Edit - This doesn't seem to want to come up like the one above. But the link works. I might have one of these Dragon's Lair posters. But I would frame the original. I'm hoping that one of the art galleries out there make a double poster with Dragon's Lair and Dragon's Lair 2 Time Warp. Perhaps Space Ace as well. I saw one that was similar to the Frazetta Conan painting. Also this recent one with a bunch of different color versions. I think I prefer or remember Space Ace more fondly compared to the original Dragon's Lair because Space Ace was easier. At least I remember it had three difficultly levels. And I made it to the final fight of Space Ace but couldn't win. I never got to the Dragon's Lair in the original game. In fact, I remember seeing few make it. I saw no one beat the game. I was happy getting to and finally beating Lizard King. I believe the arcade had fairly random stages too. I did beat Dragon's Lair 2 Time Warp in the arcade and I was very pleased with that. I think some games had a basic rescue story. One of my favorites was Jungle King or Jungle Hunt. Pretty similar story to Dragon's Lair in that you just have to rescue a girl. The big thing for Dragon's Lair was that it was animated and different than any other game I remember at the time. It would be a while I think for me to see Cliffhanger in arcades. I only saw that in Las Vegas. We had Dragon's Lair at the front of a local mall arcade. It was 50 cents to play. Double any other game in the arcade. And you would die faster than any other game in the arcade. At least, I can't remember what the big motorcycle games like Hang On cost. There was another motorcycle game. I always forget the name. Like Galaxy Rider or something. It was probably a Laser Disc game too. It was a big deal to see any one get to a different section in Dragon's Lair. I think they had a small TV above the game. Dragon's Lair exists today the moves are just called quick time events. Or at least that's what I think Shenmue called them when they used it. But it's different in that you just look and push the button or direction on screen. The original Dragon's Lair was far too much trial and error. They made Space Ace and Dragon's Lair 2 Time Warp a lot better with the flashes and assuming what the character would do. The original Dragon's Lair has too many spots where you just have to guess. Or watch Daphne at the end. I love the look of that red wraith stage but never made it past the spinning things in the arcade. Your friend sounds like the guy that played against Happy Console Gamer. In one episode he talked about a guy with gloves he would play against. But Chuck E Cheese was awesome. I think the pizza was really good. I'm sure I have some records around here. Perhaps some of the stuffed animals too. I think the Burger King American Chicken sandwich was a big seller back then. I would get it all the time.
  9. I know there is a video game artwork section around here. But people might like these. The original poster artwork for Dragon's Lair and Space Ace are up for auction at Heritage. Kids who grew up in arcades back then probably remember these. https://comics.ha.com/itm/animation-art/dragon-s-lair-promotional-poster-original-art-don-bluth-1983-/a/7232-98210.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/animation-art/space-ace-promotional-poster-original-art-don-bluth-1983-/a/7232-98234.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 I can't remember how many versions of these games I've owned over the years. I'm trying to come up with a little display one day.
  10. I said it before when shipping stopped and I checked Midtown, I was surprised how just about everything comes from Diamond. For me monopolies are rarely a good thing. So let's see how this new process works.
  11. The majority of my comics are in mylar and fullbacks. They are preserved just fine like that. I only slab comics that I'll sell or really old issues in high grade. Usually 8 or 8.5 and higher. 90s comics in the 7 to 8 range aren't worth it for me unless it's a key comic with high value.
  12. Flooding is easy. Avoid basements. And don't store comics in a room near plumbing just in case. Also, don't live in hurricane or areas that might have rising sea levels in the future. Fire is a bit more difficult. But don't live in fire zones. Make sure your electricity is up to safety standards. I've seen homes with open wiring before. Try not to live in those shared home type setups. I've seen fires in places like that which spread to the other residence because they are connected. Have good neighbors. You don't want this situation.
  13. I think I'm going to get one of those #1 puzzle covers and get back into Gen 13. I'm sure Gen 13 was one of those comics that made me take a break from comics. Always going to look for new issues at the comic shop and they were delayed. I don't think I got that far into the series. I need to find my box with the issues. I would be surprised if I made it to #10. Continuing with my post from above. I think this Gen 13 #7 is the cover that girl liked. I'm not 100% sure. I remember the cover with more purple colors. Like with a lot of light. But I know my favorite was that jungle girl type cover that was earlier in the series. So this must be the cover she liked. I hope it's ok posting MyComicShop images. Also, I dug out my old Gen 13 Lingerie poster. I forgot that it's almost movie poster sized. I can't wait to get back into the series now. I hope it's good as I can't remember the story at all.
  14. Someone has to have it saved. I imagine that a fan put it on DVR or something. Perhaps we'll have to keep waiting. Does anyone have any of the Frazetta prints from the museum? I see there are a bunch of different paper options. I think I have a new idea for a display.
  15. Black Panther. Unless you are joking. Although some could guess Superman since Monfils dives around on hard courts at times.
  16. Personally, I hate the increase in comic prices when a movie or TV show is announced. But that's just because I'm behind on comics.
  17. Why would CGC ruin it? Even though the majority of my collection is in mylar and full backs. For me, once you start talking about old key comics in high grade, which is usually 8 or 8.5 and up. Then I tend to say get them graded and slabbed. Or display them separately in the mylar so you don't run the risk of any sort of movement damage. But perhaps he reads them and they are all reading quality. I know I still have my reading copy of many old comics. But when I upgrade, they will be in slabs. Also, I remember reading something in the Overstreet Guide once that talked about the potential for flip damage. Although that example was with comics in a box. Still when you are talking old, high grade comics, why take the risk?
  18. I'm looking forward to getting that book. I have the one released I think a year or so ago that came in a deluxe slipcase version. These two should go well together. There was a Frazetta TV episode I think on CNBC that I still need to find. Someone posted about it here or perhaps on the Statue Forum. But back then it wasn't online. Hopefully someone put it up by now.
  19. I just saw a quick peak of Gael Monfils' Avengers collection. I remember when Black Panther came out, he would do the Wakanda greeting after his matches. It starts at the 3.25 minute mark if the direct time link doesn't work. He has his comics in bags and boards on shelves. That's old school, I would do that too back in the day. Looks like he might have back to Avengers #1 though. Someone should introduce him to CGC. And perhaps Hot Toys as well unless he has those somewhere else. I see those small cute version figures in boxes that people like to display for some reason. Naomi called them "dolls."
  20. I'm attempting to figure out how to watch the show. They have times listed I think coming up this week. And it seems to be on sites that require a sign up. But I can't just watch it now on youtube, vimeo, or some other site. I am curious about the artwork that they will show. I know I would draw the box art to covers like Genesis Ghouls n Ghosts and Thunder Force II in school. And yeah that Deadly Towers is something else. I think what made it worse is that we purchased it from a Toys R Us that was far away. So I would look forward to playing games when I got home. I played great ones like that. Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, Zillion, and many others that I can't remember right now. But Deadly Towers just sticks in my mind as something that I couldn't believe how bad it was. I played it again when I was older to be sure when I was selling and trading games and it was still bad. That Ys artwork is cool. I still have the remake of part 3 on PSP to play. I decided to just pass on playing it on PSP and purchase it again via download to play on a real screen instead of the small PSP screen.
  21. Yeah most likely. Part of me wants to get the box for the artwork. There really should be a good game on the basis of exploring some towers. Ys Book I has that beautiful Darm tower exploration. I still haven't played Ys Origin yet. I probably should get around to it.
  22. Kind of a non story really. I think I was kind of slow back then or either realizing that I was meeting some girls of iffy quality. Kind of like developing a slow Spider Sense. There wasn't a Cheaters show back then so cheating was still something that I didn't really consider would be possible with decent people. And I surely didn't come across those you aren't the father shows on midday TV yet. My timeline memory isn't the best but I think I met her boyfriend once and made a joke about him. But then probably a few months later, she would tell me that she would go to the movies with me as I think I mentioned that I would go alone. Also that she would go grocery shopping with me on the weekend which I thought was odd. And a few times she asked if I wanted to go for lunch. But I never remember her saying that she broke up or anything. So I was a bit confused to why someone who had a boyfriend would want to spend time with someone other than her boyfriend. I believe she was a year or so older than me. A bit shorter. But she had nice legs. Told me how she would go to the gym and was surprised that I wasn't overweight. But with that, let me see if I can remember which Gen 13 cover she liked. I know it was an early one. Also, I remembered that I have a Gen 13 #1 Lingerie poster around here somewhere. I'll see if I can find that.
  23. I thought I had to be missing something when I was a kid. But that game was terrible. Everything from the music to the graphics and gameplay. I still feel that the box art was the biggest con. How could they use great artwork like that on such a poor game? How could they even release that game with the Nintendo seal of quality.
  24. That's funny. I didn't even notice when checking your gallery.
  25. Looking forward to that review. If this sealed thing continues though, you could see anything vintage with nostalgic feelings being sealed and graded. I wonder how many people have old unopened cereal boxes from back in the day when they came with extra toys? There were all sorts of odd flavors I remember trying. I would have cereal while watching Saturday Morning Cartoons.
