  1. What's this Box Art Doc? Do they have a lot of episodes on video game box art? I guess this is the trailer. http://zerocoolfilms.com/portfolio-items/video-game-box-art/ Thanks. Speaking about box art, you don't know how much the box for Deadly Towers pissed me off. I thought I would get a great game like Castlevania. Instead I got one of the worst games I've ever played.
  2. Cool. I would like a McGinnis painting one day. That one on Heritage recently was tempting. Out of curiosity, what poster got the warning? I didn't see anything bad in your gallery.
  3. That's a cool cover. I don't remember seeing that one back in the day. I liked Gen 13. But the delays killed it for me. At least I remember going in a comic shop and always asking if a few titles came out and they were always late it seemed. But I remember a pretty girl liking the cover to I think Gen 13 #2 or #3. I think that's the first and only time a girl said something about a comic I was reading. But that was in the 90s and comics were still very geeky I think.
  4. Thanks. I purchased games because of this guy's artwork. Too bad I don't remember much Spanish from those old classes...
  5. There was a tour by the Last Gamer on youtube where he said a museum guy mentioned that protective cases aren't the best idea for video games. Perhaps he meant the really close cases though. I was going to look into myself. I'm still far from crazy about the whole cased video game cardboard box unless it's something really rare.
  6. Sideshow Rewards points will help. But I wonder if they will give a lot out this year without SDCC and everyone at their computers. It's usually around $75 or so per event that I've noticed. Plus with points on normal purchases, you can get a few statues or figures for points if you plan.
  7. You've just been lucky then. Search ebay scams and you'll find far more on the sellers these days. Buyers know they can basically get an item for free or discounted by just saying not as described. You can return empty boxes, garbage, or whatever to get the weight correct. The higher the price the more risk sellers take. Also, items like jewelry, watches, electronics, computers, and other show off items are ripe for scams.
  8. The last time I attempted to order from Dynamite's site it didn't work for me. So I would have missed it anyway unless they fixed their site.
  9. I had this figure when I was a kid and thought the same as you back then. I didn't know the character but just got him anyway. I probably got him before seeing the cartoon. Either I mentioned it or someone else. But Iron Studios has this diorama of the kids from the cartoon. And the bad guy.
  10. I just found these videos. They are showing treasure to video game fans. People who like Street Fighter might like this one. I believe there are some Chun Li animation cels in there from the Street Fighter II animated movie. But more interesting is when he was going over some original artwork. He showed some of the animation frame sketches of Wolverine from the X-Men fighting game. He goes into his art storage rooms with framed art and flat files with tons of original video game artwork from the Final Fantasy series. It's like a treasure room. I'm still waiting to get his poster from the Bloodstained Kickstarter video game myself. Edit - I had to edit his name for the title. Silly auto correct for personal names...
  11. I haven't received an email yet. But I don't sell on ebay anymore anyway. I recommend everyone I can not to sell there unless you want to take the risk of having someone steal from you or do a switch item scam.
  12. Nice collection. Who made that Cobra Commander statue? Edit: Nevermind. I think I found some leads which a few quick searches.
  13. I just posted about attempting to remember my first comic shop in the topic in the General Area. But from that I remembered the new smell of G.I. Joe sets and He-Man figures. Also a bit of the smell of videogame packaging back then. People say smells have a way of helping you remember stuff. I think I might have a new topic coming soon. Also, from all these Lego pictures I might have to try one of these. I haven't put together a Lego set since middle school. I guess I'm not creative enough to build a Lego set without directions. Or I just don't know what I would build with various different shaped pieces. But I'm looking over their site more and more. The Ford Mustang was tempting. So was the BMW motorcycle that can turn into a futuristic bike. But I want something that's a Lego but doesn't really look like a Lego if that makes sense. I guess meaning that it doesn't look like a car made with a bunch of blocks because I'll just get the car model then.
  14. I had I believe a second print of #2. I think I had #1. But #2 was that rare issue that was expensive back then.
  15. I read though the whole topic. This is a good one as I would like to open a comic shop one day. I have a good idea for it. Like many here, I remember that old comic smell and the smell of the wood displays in a few comic shops. Those were my favorite and frequently visited shops. I remember that older comic smell more than the new comic smell. Also, I remember visiting one of Moondog's shops a few times when I was young. The reason that stands out is because it was the only comic shop I ever visited in a mall. But for some reason, I can't remember the first comic shop I ever went to. I know I went to comic shops mostly on the weekends. They were rarely if ever crowded. Which is fine for me as I don't like crowds. I recall only once going to a crowded comic shop. Perhaps that was on a rare Wednesday. I didn't learn about new comics on Wednesdays until I was older. I know some of the first comics I owned were probably record comics. Like these Amazing Spider-Man and Batman comics I found cleaning out our old record cabinet. I haven't found the comics for the Superman and Hulk records yet. I had a few He-Man comic records too. But He-Man started a bit later in the 80s. It's very possible that these Amazing Spider-Man and Batman comics are my first owned comics. Also, I owned a DC Poster Book with some pretty Wonder Woman posters. I believe Adam Hughes did a homage of one of those posters. I would always watch Super friends on TV. This was probably around the time of the Mego Batman and Robin with magnetic feet. Also the Spider-Man figure with the motorized web that would pull him up. I think I had an Indiana Jones figure around this time too. I know I went to a lot of department store book areas in places like Marshall Fields or perhaps Macys or Burdines. Plus other mall bookstores. I would always look for Choose Your Own Adventure and Three Investigators books back then. I remember when I went to malls, the first thing I would do is check the directory and look for toy stores, bookstores, and arcades. Places like Crown Books, B. Dalton, and Walden Books. Also Kroch's and Brentano's bookstores. Sadly, none of those stores are around anymore. I remember Kroch's and Brentano's because I found an old plastic bag from the store. Also I recall the white and black color design in all their stores. I do have a slight disappointing feeling when I think of comics from bookstores. I know the comics were probably on a spinner rack near the magazines. But I recall them always having older issues I already owned or titles I didn't want. I do remember getting or always seeing G.I. Joe comics on the spinner. But like I mentioned, it wasn't until very late that I learned that new comics came out on Wednesdays. But I believe my memory isn't completely clear because I'm older. I feel a gap between the time of going to bookstores and finding that first comic shop. And I know for sure that the comic shops where I remember that old comic and wood smell were comic shops I visited in my teens. I know I went to an actual newsstand that sold comics. But that was during middle or high school. And I think I would go to a comic shop around that time as well. But I remember getting Amazing Spider-Man issues at that newsstand. It was a very small stand with mostly newspapers, magazines like Time, and I think a shelf of comics. I doubt a spinner as there wasn't much room to stand. I was a kid and perhaps only two or three kids could get inside that newsstand. I am starting a search to attempt to find those old comic shops. But I think the majority closed down like the arcades and amusement areas of that time. I know I asked Moondog if he had old photos of his mall shop because that mall is now closed. I was attempting to find a shop around the Florida islands but I'm having trouble locating that one too. But I'm just getting started.
  16. The big book is like normal Artist Editions you see for some comic stories. Only bigger. It is scans of the original artwork from Jose Gonzalez Vampirella stories. https://aeindex.org/reviews/jose-gonzalezs-vampirella-art-edition-vol-1/ Where as the relatively smaller book, which is really a normal sized book, is an overall Art of Jose Gonzalez book with I assume a good majority of his works. I haven't seen any thing else that compares to it. There are a few other books and magazines I'll pick up like that Illustrators Spanish Artist special edition.
  17. Apparently there are two versions of Snake Eyes in the new Classified line. I thought the normal, non Hasbro Pulse release would just be the figure without the premium packaging and weapons display. But the normal release has a different paint job and futuristic weapons. I thought the other characters reminded me of those Battle Force 2000 G.I. Joes. But I guess that's what this Classified line really is. And I thought Hasbro put a lot of thought into Snake Eyes for a reason. But I guess they just wanted to make a lot of hype for the first figure with a premium price. I think the guy from Retroblasting is probably right. It's a shame too. I would really purchase a good majority of line of larger scale vintage Joes that just have more detail on the figures. Or of course a full line of the Resolute Joes. It will always be beyond me why that didn't happen. The female Dial Tone didn't even bother me, even though I thought the original was a cool figure with the back pack but I would get her Resolute figure too. I guess we'll see how long this Classified line lasts. I don't think it will go beyond those figures in the original artwork display.
  18. That's it. Thanks guys. That artwork is so misleading. I always wanted to get that when I was a kid.
  19. Thanks a lot. I knew the art was familiar. There is a book from the artist that I either want to get or have around here called Dames Dolls and Gun Molls. I need to check my inventory and get on it.
  20. I was going to use this photo to get a signature. I still need to see that show.
  21. I'm going to get one of those book stands you see in libraries to read this big Vampirella book. Soon. I like that Artgerm Vampirella statue. Dynamite has a Gonzalez version coming out. Sideshow has a few previous ones. A Frank Frazetta and a Dave Stevens version. I saw these two Japanese manufactured statues as well. '
  22. This gave me a memory. I remember this magic growing sea horse animal type thing. They were selling these in comics, magazines, and on midday TV shows. It was like magic. They were saying all you had to do was add water. It was different than that pig like pot that would grow plants if you put water in his back. This was supposed to be real life. I can't remember the name of them. Any thoughts?
  23. Thanks. Saved me the trouble going through wiki and finding it.
  24. Cool. I still want to check out a book series with his artwork. I believe there are three in the series.
  25. Did you have the Valis one? I only did a quick search so far. I need to find a gallery with all of their video game covers.
