  1. Spitfire Comics #133 (CGC 4.0 with cream pages) $1350: SOLD! Ricksneatstuff, Classic 1945 Nazi, Good Girl Art cover. Sam Cooper art. Cover presents much better than a 4.0. Only 10 Universal in census. Last GPA sale was for a 3.0 in January 2019 for $1100.
  2. Weird Mysteries #7 (CGC 4.5 with white pages) $1100: SOLD! gunsmokin. A classic Bernard Bailey cover highlights this 1953 gruesome book. Some great stories in this one; “Mother’s Advice” and “Sssshhh” stand out. Used in SOTI. The covers presents extremely well for a 4.5. Difficult to find with white pages. Latest sale in GPA was for a 7.0 in December 2018 for $2272 in December 2018.
  3. Fight Comics #40 (CGC 6.5 with off-white pages) $1400: SOLD! thehumantorch. Skulls, Bondage, GGA and Nazis. What more could you ask for on a GA cover. A very nice 1945 mid-grade Joe Doolan cover with art by Matt Baker, Lily Renee, Robert Webb and Alex Blum. Most recent sale in GPA was for a 5.0 in January 2019 for $1230.
  4. Diary Secrets #30 (CGC 4.5 with cream to off-white pages) $2800: SOLD! Comcav. I don’t get this cover. A truly larger than life 30-foot winsome beauty being looked upon by 4 dudes like they could care less. Now if I was staring at a 30-foot blond bombshell my jaw would be on the floor and I would be sweating bullets. Maybe this was Baker’s way of snubbing the Comics Code Authority. When I look at this cover I don’t even see the guys. I just see that beautiful woman. Definitely one of Baker’s more unusual covers. Highest graded with only 9 in the census. Final issue of the title. I’m probably the only one crazy enough to spend this much on a 4.5. It’s okay if no one else is that crazy.
  5. Dark Mysteries #17 (CGC 7.5 with off-white to white pages) $1200: SOLD! gunsmokin. Another great Dark Mysteries skeleton cover. This one hosted by “The Old Gravedigger”. Excellent cover art and skeleton rendering by Hy Fleishman. Interior art also by Fleishman and John D’Agostino. Tough issue in high grade. Only 2 graded higher with 14 in census.
  6. Pictorial Romances #20 (CGC 4.5 with cream to off-white pages) $1100: SOLD! Casablanca! This is a relist. Another remarkable St. John Baker cover. They don’t get much prettier than this. A colorful 16-page story, “Roadhouse Sparrow”, by Dana Dutch with Baker’s artwork highlight this 100-page beauty. A 4.5 book with a 6.5 looking cover. Another scarce Baker book with only 10 in the census. Tough to own in any grade with the highest grade 6.5. A 6.0 sold on Heritage in July 2018 for $1680.
  7. Fight Comics #76 (CGC 9.0 with off-white to white pages) $1200: SOLD! Casablanca. A gorgeous Tiger Girl highlights this coveted 1951 Good Girl Art Fight Comics cover by Maurice Whitman. I can’t tell if the poacher’s wild expression is from being over-powered by Tiger Girl or because he senses the dislodged hypodermic needle is heading for his back. The color palette for this cover is just stunning- Tiger Girls’ outfit and golden mane, the red shirt and that incredible purple baboon. The structure and centering are outstanding. No writing marks or date stamps to detract from this spectacular cover. A difficult book to come by especially in this grade. Only 1 grades higher and only 7 in the census.
  8. Jumbo Comics #155 (CGC 9.4 with white pages) $1100: SOLD! microbia. A stunning Sheena highlights this scarce 1952 Jumbo Comics cover by Maurice Whitman. Art by Jack Kamen and Robert Webb. Great alignment with deep, rich colors. Single highest graded with only 8 in census.

  10. Final final price reduction. Looking for a new home but may need to wait a bit longer. Such a pretty book.
  11. Thanks again William. You should hang these two up at Halloween. You won't get many trick-or-treaters.
  12. Pictorial Romances #20 (CGC 4.5 with cream to off-white pages) $1300 $1150 $1100: Another remarkable St. John Baker cover. They don’t get much prettier than this. A colorful 16-page story by Dana Dutch with Baker’s artwork highlight this 100-page beauty of passion, heartbreak, flirtation and true love. A 4.5 book with a 6.5 looking cover. Another scarce Baker book with only 10 in the census. Tough to own in any grade. The highest grade for this issue is only 6.5 which makes this 4.5 even that much more desirable. You won’t see this book in the CGC census summary but you will find certification details. CGC is working on getting the census updated. A 6.0 sold on Heritage for $1680 in July 2018. Take a look at that cover. The same signature is on the cover in two places. I much prefer my 4.5 over that 6.0.
  13. Planet Comics #20 (CGC 5.0 with off-white to white pages) $875: SOLD! Nice centering and solid colors highlight this early Zolnerowich cover. There is a small piece of tape on the bottom of the spine. Also, small pieces are out of both the left and right bottom corners of the back cover that goes thru the book. Cover presents extremely well considering these issues. A 3.5 sold for $700 in December 2018.
  14. Eerie #11 (CGC 7.0 cream to off-white pages) $875: SOLD! A spookish skull cover by A. C. Hollingsworth highlights this 1943 Eerie classic. Nicely centered with superb colors and a clean cover. With only 14 universal books in the census this is a tough book to come by. And only 2 books have been added to the census in almost 4 years. An 8.0 sold on February 10, 2019 for $1128. This impressive 7.0 is quite a bargain.
  15. Ghost Comics #1 (CGC 3.5 with off-white to white pages) $650: SOLD! The beginning of Maurice Whitman’s super covers for this sought-after Fiction House pre-code horror series. Horror and Good Girl Art at its best. A solid and clean cover presents very well for this VG- grade. A 4.5 sold in January 2019 for $1300.
