  1. Manhunt #2 (CGC 3.0 with cream to off-white pages) $890: SOLD! Classic electrocution cover by Odgen Whitney! In my opinion the best Manhunt cover. Some may prefer #14 but I like #2. There is a lot to take in on this cover. You have two servants trying to strap a struggling gorgeous girl into “old sparky” and attach an electrode cap. You have the crazy doctor with hairy paws taking this all in while sipping wine and having a smoke. And all of this is intensified by the brilliant colors! It just doesn’t get much better than this. Manhunt #2 doesn’t come up for sale that often. I know it’s only a 3.0 but that cover presents spectacularly!
  2. Strange Tales #23 (CGC 6.5 with cream to off-white pages) $525: SOLD! Strange Tales is one of the most desired Atlas Pre-Code Horror titles. This issue has an incredibly clean black cover by Sol Brodsky. Artists include Joe Sinnott, Joe Maneely, Gil Evans, Louis Ravielli and Ed Goldfarb. This is a very attractive mid-grade PCH at a very affordable price. Last GPA sale was in January 2019 for a 5.5 at $450.
  3. Beware Terror Tales #6 (CGC 7.0 with off-white pages) $695: SOLD. What a cover! A classic skeleton- yellow by the way, scaring the bejeebers out of this man turning him green and his hair white. Unidentified cover artist but some believe Bernard Baily may have continued the run. Interior art by Sheldon Moldoff and Maurice Gutwirth. Published March 1953. Some great horror stories in this one. Another hard-to-get book with only 15 in the CGC census. Last GPA sale was a 4.0 for $400 in December 2018.
  4. Amazing Mysteries #33 (CGC 6.5 with cream to off-white pages) $675: SOLD. A super cover for the first horror comic from Marvel. A solid clean cover with no stamps, writing or ink marks. Hard to come by with only 13 unrestored books in the CGC census. I don’t think current prices reflect the significance of this book- Marvel’s first horror comic. They are going up though. A CGC 5.5 recently sold on ComicLink for $575.
  5. Adventures Into the Unknown #26 (CGC 8.5 with off-white to white pages) $475: SOLD. A 52-page beauty with a superb and chilling cover by Ken Bald. Ken holds two Guinness World Record Titles: Oldest Comic Artist and Oldest Artist to Illustrate a Comic Book Cover (Contest of Champions #2 which he drew at 95). Ken is a young 98. Inside art by Ogden Whitney, Edvart Moritz, Leo Morey, George Wilhelms and King Ward. Published December 1951. Great colors and excellent structure highlight this high-grade horror-suspense gem.
