  1. ...let's hope so in this case. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-2600-Game-Program-Cartridge-1981-Superman-CX2631-MIB-New-SEALED-/222087171843?hash=item33b56d4f03:g:tfYAAOSwUUdXEAwu You may have the jackpot on your hands. There were from memory 5 versions of this game. The re-issue or newest version came in the grey box similar to Ms. Pac-Man types and is very very common. There was also a blue box and a red box version with a long special edition swoop like logo on the bottom right corner but this is also very common. And another red box with a special offer in the bottom right corner in yellow for a Supes wallet. Then there were two other versions. One is uber hard to find and impossible in MISB case fresh condition. I can not recall off hand if its the all red box back or the half one on the back side. I don't see any pics of the back in the listing. Can you let me know which it is or post the pic here and I might have to throw in a thrill bid myself. If the back and sides are as crisp as the front you have a super strong VGA 85 candidate on your hands.
  2. Its a derivative of collectible toys. The most valuable toys are the ones still in mint sealed condition (that were never played with or opened.) There was a slabbed/sealed G1 Megatron 1st series edition that just sold for $18K something on ebay. You can get a nice condition open/used one for $100. For me personally there is a tremendous thrill for certain toys and video games when I come across them in sealed unopened condition. Back in the 80's some of the toys I collected and especially the very early adopting Atari 2600 games were very difficult to find in the stores at that point in time. Finding them now in new sealed condition so many years later is something some folks are willing to pay a big premium for to re-live and experience those moments.
  3. I am aware of a private sale from about a month ago just under 11k for a 9.6 No wonder why this was 9.6 slab was BINd so quick for $5K just 5 days ago.
  4. Is that yours? Looks like its mounted in a Mylites 4 "R" series - which one? If there is a board under there its doing a good job of hiding. I never realized how massive these AMFs are until I saw a few of them that were 50 pages+ Apparently someone was telling me there a bunch from 1940ish that were like books coming in near 70 page range.
  5. So true. Did not think of it when Broke as a Joke asked; but I learned this the hard way when trying to unload some SS 9.8 slabs. Not specifically with Chaykin, but if you don't have the proper John Hancock on the comic you will get much less than current market value because you are not only excluding the blue label only buyers but the signature crowd will not be interested as much either.
  6. Just noticed the winning bidder had multiple bids but no one else wanted it higher. As a seller I really like the BIN with Best Offer style but you setting auto reject for anything below minimum selling price. The potential buyer still gets a bidding like experience and you are getting a free reserve. Also with Star Wars, 9.8 slabs, in particular- they do much much better on BINs vs. bidding style. Given how prices ramped overnight I would not be surprised if this was most slabbed book for last year.
  7. No you didn't. You just keep blowing off sales as shilled with zero evidence. Are you the 'shiller' on Clink? I suggest you don't know what the heII you are talking about. You lost all credibility with this Epic fail thread ...and yet Star Wars 1 is back down to a $1000 book (and falling?) and both Marvel Preview 4 and 7 are at about one-third their peak, post-shill values as well. You seem like an angry and overly defensive fellow- particularly when it comes to Star Wars. Might I suggest taking a walk in the sunshine sometime? -J. Wrong, but why don't you actually pay for GPA and have some information and not just 'speculate'. I have GPA. I see that last sale of $1000 from Sunday, do you? Or is this an optical illusion? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-9-8-/322007502869?hash=item4af9249015:g:5t4AAOSwG-1Wv0W~ Do you see all those red arrows pointing down since the movie came out and the speculators and shillers bailed? Do you see all those expired listings on ebay for the book? No one is buying. That's why prices are plummeting. This has happened with every single book that I have observed with that kind of bizarre market activity. And unfortunately it won't be the last. -J. Are there sales lower than 1000 or can this be the outlier. No sales lower. Although listings have been sitting at $1200 and $1300, so $1000 might be right about where it's settling at for the time being at least. -J. An all time new low was recently put in. A CGC 9.8 SS SW #1 fetched $861
  8. In 2013, there were 10 or 11. http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/search/comicid/5000360 Interesting. I "got" that census number from the comments section on the CC listing. CGC NM/M: 9.8 Publisher: Mirage Bid History: Sold For $13,088 39 Bids End Time: 8:03 PM EDT Friday 3/22/2013 Comments: white pgs, 1 of only 3 in census! Rare 1st Printing! origin and 1st app. of the TMNT; most valuable comic of the Copper Age! Highest Graded Unfortunately, that comment either needs to have been written in January 2012, or it was a lie. If I am a legit bidder on this auction with intention of acquisition I am going to take a minute to check the census in real time - no? That is quite a little explosion in the census on this slab from 2012 vs 2013. Remind me a little of that Harb 1 9.8 slab. Seemed like for years and years never moved and was always mid single digits and then one random day I looked and could not believe it.

  10. Just for reference purposes in case not mentioned, a TMNT #1 CGC 9.8 fetched $13,088 in a bidding style auction only 3 years ago (end of March 2013) on CC. CGC census at that time was 3.
  11. What did you think of Ben as Bruce Wayne?
  12. Thanks for saving me the time and bumping this Should be sticky like taffy.
  13. In theory some are if they specifically do not contain stearates or plasticizers and other criteria. I did find out that the top loaders from hot flips are archival safe.
  14. Found this entertaining in light of the thread. A board member is putting a 1970's Avenger comic into a 700M2 bag and placing that in a BCW top loader 7 1/2 X 11. The interior dimensions are basically 7" wide so it fits like a perfectly pinched slab. Check out 4:44 mark putting comic in bag and 6:50 placing bagged comic into top loader. In this case because the comic is so snug in the top loader and placed in the bag with no wiggle room could it warp/bend? It definitely it is most slab like in appearance
  15. The TLs present very well with the boards. I guess until I have each in hand; one with and one without, to really make up my mind. In terms of the "pinch" inside the TL and how tightly it sits, have you tried just the comic without the board? I would imagine with the board it would pinch even better, meaning the likelihood the comic could move around inside the TL is less because with the board it would be a tighter more snug fit.
  16. Not answering your questions but, if you are going to start doing this, I suggest having your own done for you. Contact a company that manufacturers this type of stuff and have them make you a bunch. it will be cheaper for you. Thanks I had looked into this but if you buy top loaders in quantity of say 200 lots with 5mm gauge thickness; you can get pretty good pricing for just around $1 each including shipping. The properly fabricated ones have archival qualities in terms of not containing plasticizers, stearates, etc. This has been debated though here in the past.
  17. This +1 I have been doing this combo for years, and it rocks! Old pic, but all the books behind WWT#1 are protected the same way.
  18. This +1 I have been doing this combo for years, and it rocks! Old pic, but all the books behind WWT#1 are protected the same way. What types of boxes do you guys use to store your toploaders? If I had to guess based on spec measurements, my anticipation is they would fit great in a CGC box. Even the GA top loaders should fit in there at exterior dimensions of 8 1/8" ish X under 12"
  19. I found a great source that you can buy in 100 lots for only $25. These are 7 3/8" long so you might want your top loader to be at least that length or 7 1/2" would also pretty much line up flush as well.
  20. Putting aside keys and more ($$$) valuable books which you could logically lean towards an E. Gerber Archives/Full back type combo............. For the sake of general presentation or full runs etc. per my PM discussions with board members it seems many folks are content with M2/Half back type combo. Now to create a slab-like appearance you can place this combo in a top loader (I have heard extremely positive feedback on hotflips TLs). I have also run into collectors who are going with M2 bags and top loaders with no back board. Hence a true slab appearance. There are also closure clips you can get now for top loaders. Anyone using these and where do you get yours? What kind of tape are you utilizing to seal your bags with? I searched some previous threads over the last five years and found some great info in there but the threads were only a few pages long and no very recent discussion on top loaders and being able to seal or clip close the top opening. Any thoughts or comments/discussion appreciated.
