  1. I have personally submitted something approaching a hundred copies of H1. I have never received a 9.8. I believe the 9.8 I have in my Master Set was purchased already graded. That is truly mind blowing when you put it in perspective. And imagine someone of your caliber along with some of the experience folks I knew had, who were all collectively cherry picking the best possible candidates. This H1 for years carried the greatest mystique in my opinion of any modern comic. It is too bad we can never know how many of the current 9.8's were cracked/re-subs vs. true new fresh raw candidates. I stopped actively tracking the census once it broke the 20's. Was there an overnight explosion of population or did it just steadily uptick gradually over the course of months and years? I.E. has the new 9.8 population now tapered off say vs. an increase of 50 over the course of a single year because someone had a gold mine of these tucked away.
  2. Some random tidbits. RMA is a genius for having the patience to hold on to that SS Harb 1 9.8 slab as I would have not. As a reference point you have to remember the submission climate of Harb 1's 7-9 years ago. I knew a bunch of folks, myself included, who would sub multiple copies, pre-screen, etc. and would at best get a 9.6 or fail the pre-screen. This was a comic which by no means was suffering from a lack of "try." I don't know what changed all of a sudden in the last few years as certainly there was pressing/cleaning capability during this entire period, but here we are and I personally would have bet serious coin that we would never see the 9.8 census that currently exists for Harb 1 in 9.8. You could cite that market top transaction of $2500 as a catalyst but however all of these now 9.8 comics ended up showing up either from hoarded stashes, forgotten supply, or pressed 9.6/9.4 resubs, we will never be able to really quantify. But given the lack of supply on ebay and other venues of Harb #1 CGC 9.8, regardless of current census, it only takes a few well capitalized speculators and predicting the top is fruitless. I would predict that we see some purchases in the $1K range if current lack of supply holds. This phenom was similar to BA Star Wars #1 in CGC 9.8. For years and years you could buy one on any day for between $390-$480. Even after Disney/George Lucas buyout announced no uptick. When the first SW movie trailer hit, the price took off. Now these slabs are fetching $2K. Anyone tracking RAI 0 CGC 9.8? There were recent sells in the $40 range only a few months ago. Not to mention this has always been available in big supply for years on the cheap. Just last week, one sold for in a bidding style auction $182.50 That is a huge multiple of 450%+ This is going to be a great time for Valiant; speculators and fans alike. Everyone enjoy the ride.
  3. So we have the first blue label 9.8 slab crack $2K. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-9-8-/161634952176?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a231a3f0
  4. I believe the official announcement on the Disney/SW acquisition was the fall of 2012, Octoberish perhaps. So that left several months, all of 2013 and some of 2014 before prices even started upticking. Could have definitely hoarded a stock pile with the full fledged knowledge that a brand new movie was coming 3-4 years out from that point in time. In a related matter, I noticed that on the day or after the $100M valiant investment/development announcement hit, some person(s) went on ebay and BIN'd all the Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 listings for $350ish each. That could turn out to be a big score. There is something to be said about timing and speculation. In hindsight it was really not even a stretch to draw the conclusion in late 2012 that with a new SW movie coming out several years from now, the prices of the original SW BA #1 release would probably be selling for a higher price point.
  5. Nice info. Add three more all sold yesterday 3/11 on eBay. One with $2500 Best offer accepted (This one sold for > $1875 not sure how much more) One with $1850 Best offer accepted (This one sold between $1799 - $1825) One with $1799 BIN
  6. Did anyone catch what the SW #1 CGC 9.4 35C slab sold for on heritage including premium? Thanks.
  7. Crazy sells haven't translated to the 35 cent variant slabs yet. Think the last SW #1 35 cent variant CGC 9.4 sold for $13,500 a few weeks back and a previous one sold for $14,000. Can't imagine a 250%-%300% increase in that price. As you know the liquidity on the 35C slab is deficient to say the least. It can be very difficult for either buyer or seller depending on the timing of either acquiring or unloading in terms of price. And the 9.4's certainly do not show up much but think it was back in 2009 or maybe 2010 two separate 9.4 35C slabs sold in the $4200-$4500 each on CL within several months. These were not flips as I verified unique cert #'s on each slab. Granted at that point in time given the macro environment those were clearly "cheaper" prices. So historically based on the two price points you recently mentioned which I do believe reflect most of the new found movie news you are correct probably in that much of this new found glory is priced in there. What I would really really want to see is if one of the 9.6 slabs happen to surface. Believe the last one sold on CL for well over $20K and that was years ago. There might have been one more recent and I would be out of the loop.
  8. I was just scanning completed auctions on ebay. And to my surprise there were eight SW #1 CGC 9.8 listings that sold between $676 - $799. And all of them but 2 were Best Offer or straight up BINs. This was from as early as 11/18/2014 - 12/10/2014. A slab going up 250%-300% in a matter of less than two months is astounding to say the least. SW #1 CGC 9.8 Slabs sold on Ebay
  9. That is one I was talking about. Thanks for posting that pic. That is the only HF SS I have personally seen.
  10. I just wrote in another thread around 2012 and earlier this was available all day long between $350-$450 easily and in abundant supply. The wide range on price had to do with OW vs OW to W vs W pages along with spine wrap. Now since the Disney buy out, the 9.8's have been getting more scarce by the day. I have no doubt we will see sales blast through $2K if supply stays so thin the way it is now. Most likely you will have some folks who will unload as the movie approaches. And remember if you have a white page 9.8 with perfect straight spine wrap -- meaning no white spine or no crooked spine, those always fetch significantly higher premium against the typical price spread with those qualities in particular on this BA issue.
  11. I am thinking that was for sure a 9.6. A 9.8 would be an uber rare slab with Ford SS. There are now several of the 6X cast 9.8 slabs floating around but none of them have Ford. I have never seen a SW #1 9.8 SS with Ford. If anyone else has, please clarify. If a 7X CGC 9.8 SS cast slab ever showed up with Ford that would fetch insane money. I am fairly certain that the signing with Ford, where you were able to present your own item, was cancelled. That left the Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff that CA had on the site only. It is possible that a SW1 snuck through, and that would be a bombshell of a book, but I have never seen it. Thanks for chiming in. That is kind of what I thought and that even possibly there is no BA Marvel SW #1 CGC SS Ford in existence at any grade. Looking forward to RMA clarifying. There is a more modern comic slabbed by CGC with Ford SS in CGC 9.8 that I have personally seen but its not from this BA SW run at all.
  12. A CGC 9.8 reprint in early January fetched $500. This issue had a bar code and was not the white blank UPC box, but a reprint version none the less as it states REPRINT on the top left spine corner.
  13. It is smart listing it in the fashion you did. Definitely be patient. Timing is everything with this kind of slab.

  15. Sold for $1,575 best offer. Crazy ! when did this book in 9.8 explode? It is so interesting to watch the forces of supply and demand over a period of a few years. Back in 2012 and earlier SW #1 CGC 9.8 was abundant. You could go on ebay, CL, etc. and there would always be one or multiples. Heck CL would run one pretty month every month in their auctions marketplace. There was even one point where prices dipped between $350-$400 and you could have certainly picked up as many as you wanted below $450. Ever since announcement of the Disney purchase the supply has been thin and lately non-existent. A great scenario for sellers. Prices will most likely go even higher but no doubt as the movie approaches you will see some folks unloading and certainly the best time to buy could possibly end up being after the movie hits if you look at price trends historical data post movie release and key character slabs, #'1, etc. A while back I knew someone who was sitting on at least a dozen of these but I have lost touch. Will have to see if I can catch up and will update.
  16. Called it! Someone brought this thread to my attention and I wanted to drop a line. On October 2nd, when John made his 2nd to last timed payment, I emailed him directly and thanked him for his payment. Confirmed that I received it and that I would be on the road with limited email access. And if he should need to communicate with me, to please email me directly. He responded in kind via direct email. For some reason, the above was never mentioned in this thread and in my opinion has created a false perception of the reality on the timeline. In hindsight I wish I would have told him in that direct email on Oct 2nd, that going forward through final payment to contact me directly and not on the boards because I would not be up and running until mid-November. That would have alleviated all of this. John is a great communicator and made all his payments on time perfectly. For staying firmly committed to the transaction the whole way through the entire summer and fall; for that I am very thankful to him. So the last payment rolled in Friday Nov 7th. At this point, again, our last mutual exchange of communication was Oct 2nd. Nothing in between as there was nothing in between previous months with timed payments. I just got to a computer yesterday on the 10th as I was off on Friday the 7th; 3 days after final payment made and found the payment along with the paypal disputes, etc. I completely understand someone getting frightened or alarmed over a $1K transaction and coming to the possible outcome of being scammed, etc. But if anyone here would have taken a moment to check out other recent posts of mine, you would have seen that I helped out a couple of board members in financial trouble, started a thread and offered some comics as a donation to a fallen board member's family, went out of my way to track a board member down who mailed me a valuable slab by mistake, or even checked out my kudos thread, or the massive inventory of SS 9.8 slabs I carry, you could come to the reasonable conclusion that I am probably not out to get someone. This slab will ship out today via USPS 2 day delivery with signature confirmation. Thanks John for a great transaction and completing all of your timed payments with diligence and great promptness. Many thanks for your consideration. Appreciate it. Preston Glad you guys got it all worked out Thanks. There was really nothing to work out. He merely opened the disputes as a hedge. Glad you are good and well, he is getting his book and everything is kosher. Congrats on the sale very cool (and ultra hard to get book in 9.8) (thumbs u
  17. Before assuming anything go back and read all the details. I don't blame the buyer for being concerned. I don't think I missed anything. So a guy sends time payments and sends one on Sept 29 & Nov 7. Guy hasn't been on the boards since Sept 19th (which is like 45 days+) and can't get a hold of him and you aren't worried that a "newer" member may have taken your money? Right... Please remember. The genesis of me posting on this thread was the fact that we did have a direct communication on October 2nd via email in which I confirmed his 2nd to last payment received and told him I would not be on the boards and have limited internet access so direct email would be best. This is what I am trying to clear up. I think he forgot about this correspondence as it is left out and hence created a more dire looking situation than it really was. Bottom line is everything is mary poppins now.

  19. Before assuming anything go back and read all the details. I don't blame the buyer for being concerned. You have to remember his state of mind at that point in time. He forgot about our Oct 2nd correspondence and thought he was being scammed. Plus there is a limited window for paypal to dispute. This way he could pick up the 2nd to last payment as well as the last payment for the disputes as opposed to only being able to dispute the last payment if enough time had lapsed.

  21. One of the best board members I have dealt with. Superior communication. Many thanks (thumbs u
  22. Greetings. Have five dozen Uncanny X-Men slabs up for sale all the way up to 300 starting at issue # 146. All are CGC 9.8 SS slabs. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7641157#Post7641157
  23. Don't think there is an official slot for this category. I tried searching, "VGA", "NES," and "Nintendo;" came up with zero hits. I can not imagine them not wanting to sell something like this, given the fees they charge on the buyer and seller.
  24. Does not look like the original auction actually completed. Winning bidder had triple digit feedback, but its been relisted just today and already back up to $65K+ Relist This amazing Gold cart just popped up in better condition and broke $100K with still nearly 6 days left. Gold cart 6 figures auction It's funny cause the guy had to decrease the buy it now to 65k because of the Gold cart that popped up. Which may also be the reason why the original one wasn't paid for Interesting comment. I did notice allot of retractions on that original auction. As they say timing is everything. I think that Gold one is going allot higher from here. Just goes to show you, you can never believe what you read on the internet. Did you check out the bidding action on the original? Look at all those unique bidders between $80K & $99K. That is painfully allot of coin to lose on the relist.
