  1. I think people didn't want to admit that they listened to Limp Bizkit. I once hung out with the drummer from Limp Bizkit and comic book artist Tone Rodriguez. It was a crazy night. Need to look in to what ever happened to Tone Rodriguez. Loved Violent Messiahs.
  2. I dunno, only like 8-10 copies on ebay, bids up to $38 on one. Completed sales like crazy... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=guardians%20of%20knowhere%201%20gwen&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 by putting Gwen in the search field you are significantly limiting your search results. Thanks for the tip, I didn't even think about it when I did the quick search. It is odd that "Gwen" would catch less hits then "Gwenom" as I would think that "Gwen" would catch all spelling variations.

  4. Sunshine doesn't matter when it's 35 degrees. I did got to a comic store though. Me too A new shop opened up here this week. Picked up a bunch of old Stormwatch, The Authority, and some Jae lee covers. Oh yeah, Monstress is still heating up. Not receiving the hype that a lot of Image books have in the recent past but its a mover. Even the 2nd prints are selling. The story is above average and something about the art makes it really special. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=monstress&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc I was just about to make a separate post for this... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Monstress-1-NM-2nd-Print-Liu-Takeda-Image-Comics-2015-Low-Print-Run-/252322893437?hash=item3abf9dce7d:g:ZyoAAOSwv9hW6hEI Less than a day left and the 2nd printing of #1 is at over $50. Glad I picked up a copy just for the different cover when it was released, and managed to find another for cover last week. I read that like an hour ago here: http://comicsheatingup.net/2016/03/21/one-to-watch-for-monstress-1-second-print/ It is a good book and just seems to be growing on its own.
  5. At this point in the story, you've seen a printed price and you've had an indication that the price will "probably" be discounted (but the discount isn't guaranteed). The rest of the story doesn't matter. Any price asked above the amount on the sticker is the literal definition of "bait-and-switch". He only "advertised" the price to an audience of one person... you... but you saw the price and he indicated it would be THAT price, or lower. Except for the fact that Valiantman21Pittsburgh58 asked for books that were in the back room and not for sale at the moment. They could have still listed at cover price. It wouldn't matter. The owner, who is negligent in staying current with his stock and prices, did have a right to check (he said they would probably be cheaper) to see what the current value/price was. He did offer a discount, but he did not say thank you to Valiantman21Pittsburgh58, and that is where he is wrong and what VM seems mad about. I wouldn't call this a bait and switch as it was not on the wall at that price, nor would I call it shady business practice. Now if it was on display in a case or on the wall at that price and he didn't honor it, that would be bait and switch and shady. It wasn't me. No, I'm saying that it was all fine (going to the back room, pulling old stickered books) UNTIL the seller indicated that the $39.95 and $19.95 prices were TOO HIGH, and they would probably be lower. Once he said "$39.95, possibly less than that", he can't raise the price. He has advertised the $39.95 price, without a guarantee of a discount to this buyer (21Pittsburgh58). Then, he changed the prices to much, much higher. That's an instant bait-and-switch. Oops, sorry I thought you were the poster the way the thread broke down in the message box. He did say don't worry about the prices they are "PROBABLY" lower than that. But were not. I still think using the term "probably" shows that it was not a guarantee. It's all good. No harm, no foul. I agree with you. But... Would it be a different story if I bought them at the sticker prices and then came on here to say "I just got these at an absolute steal from my LCS"? Absolutely. Would it be justified to "look down" on me as a buyer? Sure. Why not the other way around? I've already stated twice that I asked for the books to be brought up from the back and because they were not on the floor, that it was up to the LCS to do what they did. Re-stating what happened: He had sticker prices at $39.95 and $19.95, looked them up on eBay and jacked the price to $225 and $150. Offered me a 20% discount off of eBay prices which would have cost me: 1) $180 for the Gamora ($39.95 sticker to $225 eBay to $180 final sale w/ 20%discount) 2) $120 for the Punisher ($19.95 sticker to $150 eBay to $120 final sale w/ 20% discount). Those 2 books would have cost me $300 + tax (at 20% off) instead of $60 + tax = 5x what was actually on the book. Now they are looking to make (if they sell) $375 + tax. Is that how you would have done business? I never, ever said that they SHOULD have sold them to me at the sticker price, I stated that a simple 'thank you' would have sufficed. Bottom line is this: I don't have the books. The LCS has the books but, at this time, haven't sold the books. Guaranteed sale vs. potential sale. I wish them the best because I really like going there! But to think that the LCS wasn't even a TINY bit ridiculous in the handling of this, is, in my opinion, ridiculous. Hey 21Pittsburgh58 I never said that it was not ridiculous in fact I said, . I have a store that checks ebay on everything I buy. He has no pulse on what is going on and his stock is not priced accordingly. He does however honor the prices of his stock on the floor that is priced. I did say, "Granted, pricing it in front of him was wrong and showed lack of social skills (business and otherwise.)". I am not disagreeing that what he did lacked common sense or etiquette, but was saying that it is not a bait and switch to check the prices of a book being pulled from the back room. A bait and switch is when it is advertised at one price to lure people in and then try to switch the item with a higher priced item. How would I have handled it? I wouldn't have given you a priced book or would not have told you the price before checking it out. The back room is often over stock and not up to date priced. Either way I do not fault you and would 100% feel slighted along with you. No, you would not have been looked down upon if you got them at that price, people would have applauded your savvy purchase.

  8. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but JTC is offering free head sketches if you order 50, 100, 150 copies and is also randomly giving away sketches for 1st, 500th ect. http://comicsheatingup.net/2016/03/11/john-tyler-christopher-poe-dameron-covers-public-release-at-6-pm-eastern-with-a-twist/#more-13767
  9. Just thought you guys would like to know: Original Sin #1 Del Otto $7.63 http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=Original+Sin+%231+Cover+H+I_1349697 They had others the other day when i ordered some but at least that is a cheap one.
  10. Wow - a complete set of 1-7 and a Cap 25 for $60. Just another reminder to not do auctions on E-Bay. Not as bad as the set that had 1-7 plus Ed McGuinness variant that sold for $47
  11. Tim, it's an omen. I hope it doesn't means your hotel room will be infested with the creature.
  12. He seemed very much to be coming after Marvel and DC with that, especially Marvel from the way I read it.
  13. There is a fund raiser for Larime over at http://comicsheatingup.net/2016/02/02/larime-and-sylv-taylor-fundraiser-auctions/ they are auctioning off blank covers sketched by Larime to help fund his wife's chemo. There is also a cover painting, a Terry Moore sketch, and some other books.
  14. How could you compare Star Wars 1 to BA12? Its neither a Marvel or DC creation. You could compare SW to Rom, GI Joe or Tranformers, but not Harley Quinn. I'm just comparing it to every other alternative media hype book crash post speculative bubble which usually coincides with the release of said alternative media. See, also most recently, Alias 1 (even Daredevil 1 corrected somewhat, but has the benefit of a kind of silver age buffer that cushioned its fall a bit). -J. BA12 CGC 9.8 sold for $1000 before any rumor of a SS movie, it sucked back down below 800 and I even recall a BIN on ebay for $600 I stood and looked at and then the news broke and it went 1000 city and then proceeded north. SW was a 500-600 book in 9.8 before breaking news of a movie. I saw 2500 and right back down. Likely lower. Harley will unlikely break the SW box office record, but BA12 will always hold a higher spot over SW1 any day going forward. You may be right, but don't under estimate the similarities between the two books: Both started as alternative media, were then adapted to comic books, and then adapted back to an alternative media; both have a similar amount of graded 9.8 copies on the census (400+ now, each); both at least tripled in price almost overnight upon the speculation of a movie; both are HEAVILY speculated on; both have prior alternative media adaptations on television which did little to nothing for the values of their respective "first appearance books"; and of course last but not least neither is a true "first appearance" book. It ultimately does not matter to me what either book ends up doing, but I do notice the patterns and the parallels and it may offer an instruction of caution for those paying attention to such things. -J. DC owns Harley and I would venture to say they will use her and make her more successful. Margo signed up to be Harley for 10 years. She isnt locked into the Suicide Squad. Thats not even her main role in the DC universe. She's the Jokers gal and like him or not Leto is the Joker. Regardless of the outcome of the SS movie, expect to see more Margo and Leto. Madlove New trailer doesn't bode well for Margot in the HQ role. The jokes she told didn't land with me and she doesn't even have a Brooklyn accent. How can we have HQ without her occasionally saying "mistah J"? DC shoudve went with fran drescher instead I could only imagine her doing her signature laugh "eh eh eh eh eh eh eh Mistah Joka". I think she has aged out of the part.
  15. Totally agree, loving this book. Midtown had copies signed by Marjorie Lau, very attractive by the way, for cover price. They were limit one per. Wouldn't you know though my copy came in with a huge spine ding (color breaking)
  16. Got one of each and all clean, others on the stands were wrecked. Had to feel for the good ones. Also, wasn't the Jim Lee one supposed to come out this week? Justice League I believe.
  17. I agree, the story was really good and the art was pretty fantastic.
  18. I got a Campbell pencil variant, same damage. y Green Lantern inked one did not have it. Didn't get any of the color copies.
  19. Not sure when it was released but you can check here. http://www.comichron.com/ Already did. It's not listed..... Could the print run be THAT low ? The numbers may not be available yet. If the date it's released is available for others then it may be that small. Yet not knowing the book I'm not sure if it's that low or not. I wouldn't think a Boom! series would debut that low to not be listed. The book came out in Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec 2014. I wonder if it is because the book came out through Archaia, a subsidiary of Boom, and not known for big print runs, accounts for them not showing up on comichron.
  20. Yes but you missed out on so much of WD buddy. I only have to wait a year to see what I read about in the TWD thread. Yeah, TWD is the only bummer to wait for. Mean Nate! Now you know why I click on every single WD spoiler! I have to! I just can't justify paying for cable for one show I dread waiting for. AMC app and screen mirror it on an Apple TV if you have it and an iOS device. Keep you up to date on this season
  21. Do you work for that website ? Are you selling the comic on Ebay ? I see no reason for the comic to sell that high. Sorry I was away for work. I think I made it pretty clear i sold a couple of copies as stated above, should have held out though I could have sold for higher prices. All my copies were gone by the time I posted. So I must work for a website because I quoted it? I can say that I go there a lot and get some good tips. I also come here and get good tips but do not work for CGC. I could say that for a ton of sites I go to and could have quoted, just happened to be the one I got the info from. Do not understand the harshness of the comments directed towards me for putting up something that may have been of interest to some on here.
  22. Just was pointing out something interesting that is "actually heating up". No I am not selling any copies but thanks for accusing. I see no reason that the book is selling as high as it is either, but it is and that might be worthy of people on a modern comic heating up on eBay forum to take notice of. Am I wrong or do people still talk about comics heating up on eBay here?
  23. Anyone watching Straightjacket #1? It went from $3.99 to $75 this week. Print run of 870 copies and a really great horror story. Read about it here http://comicsheatingup.net/2015/10/16/wednesday-winner-straightjacket-1/ and glad I did. I sold a couple of copies that I was able to grab.
