  1. hey have you guys ever heard about a Godzilla issue 1 with a different color seperation on the cover? perhaps a pink instead of a deep red in the background? thanks, frank
  2. thanks Terry for the help looks like it worked! well, i was very dissapointed , the comic is one of the worst i have ever owned! lots of moisture damage, wrinkley on the cover , quite a few nicks on the spine. guess i should have asked the seller about it!
  3. oh I just got the Tomb of Darkness variant. if some one could please pm me and tell me exactly how to post a picture directly on this square here, i will post a picture! frank
  4. congrats darth http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=6522735824 saw that the first day it was out! but waited and saw it go up the last minute as usual. interesting he thought there was only one variant in the collection , when there were two!
  5. hey guys, do you think my price for the Star Wars variant is too high? I believe my grading is pretty accurate and i have never had a complaint. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=6523568894 it really is my best variant shape wise I have ever had. i have seen them on ebay before most recenlty a CGC 8.0 graded that went for a $150.00 BIN price, but i believe mine is in better shape. your thoughts? I also discovered when i was posting this auction that my scanner needed cleaning! i saw spots on the comic that were never there! Lord knows how long it has been dirty!
  6. hey Fastball, good luck on the variant hunting! i hope you are not the best man in the wedding! Tell the groom you might be late , cause your looking for comics! no i don't seem to see any disrespect between 30 and 35 cent collectors, though. In fact, if i was an investor, I would hold onto both! I just enjoy the hunt of looking for something different!
  7. hey terry, thanks for the reply. I got interested in price variants w hen i found that collection in SF here a few years ago. Went to a guy here in SF who had a collection of nice bronze comics. going throught the boxes and file cabinets, seeing issues in sequential numbers and prices going from 30 cents to 35 cents and then back to 30 cents, I thought to myself, "what the heck?" So, naturally, I snatched them all, i had heard about them, but never owned one. I am 42 years old and have been actively collecting for 30 years now. so did a little research, and found Paul's site. put them up on ebay and they easily sold for $100 each. I was shocked! I gave you that phone number for Tony and he definitely bought them from his area in Marin at a local comics shop in 77. But , if the owner originally got them in this area is the question. Most of the 35 cent comics, i have found have been on ebay through hiddens. now, 30 cents is different. I find alot of those, in this area. my count is up to 35.on 30 cent variants, but, since recently being unemployed, here in sf, you will probably see more of my better comics up for bid.in the future. But I do not like sending them in to be graded, but that seems to be the standard, now. I think I have a pretty good idea about grading. Too bad that CGC is in NY, they should become bicoastal, but who would want to open a CA business? The tax would kill you! I hate waiting three months to get my comics back. anyways I am ranting.
  8. TOD variant it always pays to look carefully at these auctions! hope it is in good shape, one of these days, i will have to get some of these variants graded. I hate though to wait 3 months to get these comics back. The current 35 cent variants i have up for bidding , should probably be graded. A few years ago , i sold a few John Carter variants that were in perfect shape near mint all the way. One of you guys probably got them graded, can anyone tell me what they came back from CGC as?
  9. no, no 35 centers , I was really hoping to not to see the seven on it, but there it was, asked him for a better picture, but he would not give it to me. buyer beware! you win some you lose some.
  10. no, it was never about the price, it was about the missing issue number next to the price, looks like there is nothing there. thought the printer fell asleep!
  11. but when i received it, it was there , damn! Take a look at the comic, it is in the middle of the bottom three, would you have taken the chance? It was a seller from one of the variant marketsk and i did contact the seller and try to get more information from him , but recieved no response or even a better picture, he was a dealer from one of the 35 cent areas. by the by , I do have 4 35 cent price variants up on ebay currently, check them out: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsassZcomichunters
  12. hello guys, been away from the boards for awhile. I have had a few questions about the Tarzan 7 with no price. well, the picture i got from the guy is attached. And with my eyes it looked like the Tarzan 7 did not have a price
  13. the guy is going to get the comic, he spent $220.00 on and find the word "reprint". he is not going to be too happy. the buyer has a high rating of 665, but he doesn't know this is a reprint? strange. i am still waiting for that Tarzan 7 to come in. i will post it here as soon as i get it looks like my WWT 15 variant has cooled since the reserve was met by bonas, but i expect some heavy sniping frank
  14. arghh: go to: http://www.bipcomics.com/showcase/StarWars/Marvel/StarWars/001-006.html
  15. whoa some guy paid $220.00 for a reprint of Star Wars issue 1? that really is not that rare , i think? 35 cent price in white diamond? he should have went to this site: seems like he should have done a bit more research? frank
  16. well. i am happy about it never expected it to meet the reserve in just about a day, though. My friend Craig is going to be happy too. He was a little skeptical when we bought it!.. but here is a little vindication. Personally, i would have rather kept it and got it graded but, i really can't complain! thanks guys frank
  17. hey Shield, which 30 cent variant are you looking for? frank
  18. m let me try to get it fully posted here. jeez any advise on how to get this picture to show up in this square? i see many postings of pictures. thanks, frank
  19. just picked it up, but had to go in with a friend to buy it! No tears, or rips, but a corner bend on the cover, about half an inch at lower right. But I am happy. Off to CGC with it? what do you guys think?
  20. I am getting a Tarzan issue 7 here in San Francisco in the next week. The surprising thing about it , is that the issue number on the cover is missing! Is that considered a variant or just a printing error? I would imagine the printer goofed, but is it really worth anything? thanks guys.
  21. well, you certainly won that contest, looks great! Picked my copy of COC #22 up on Yahoo auctions! No really, I'm serious , only had one bid against me! sometimes you gotta check out the little guys!
  22. just picked it up last week for a very sweet price!!! sorry just bad timing. maybe i will find some at WonderCon!! I hope!!
