  1. Once you get the new mugs out, I will pass down my " World's Best Boss " Office mug. I've been watching the English version on Netflix this week. It is nearly as funny as Todd. lol

About 4 years ago Entertainment Weekly ranked the British Office as the most politically incorrect show of all time but I have a feeling that Todd may "dethrone" the King.

Must be something wrong with me. :screwy: I love them both :roflmao:

Yes...but u are my kind of degenerate!!! So u have that going for you.

Thank you kind sir. Right back at you. :hi:

When does #7 hit the shelves ?

    Not sure. Not soon enuff

  4. Has ANYONE bought from the ebay seller wantedcomix? Please I hope wantedcomix isn't from these boards because their replies come across rude!

No idea if he is from these boards but my only dealing with him was very unsatisfactory. Got upset because i asked if his raw EoW RRP had any ink marks on the back and he got very rude and evasive. Kept me from bidding.

  5. Hey guys,

Glad to see my find exciting some interest! It's definitely a cool piece of Five Ghosts history and very few people seem to have them.

I wanted to add that this particular ashcan is even rarer than I thought--I had lost track a bit of when I had made ashcans, but this one is ACTUALLY from C2E2 '12…predating the SDCC '12 ashcan. I had made ashcans for both, the C2E2 one is particularly unique as it only has the first 6 pages plus penciled pages--the SDCC one has inked pages as well, and an expanded page count that includes characters sketches and most importantly (for identification purposes!) A LETTERS PAGE that is dated 7/2012.

It's a bit late to amend the ebay auction as I don't want to confuse anyone, BUT--this is the rarer of the two by far. Why are these so rare? They are rare because a) I was using them to pitch publishers--I gave away a fair amount to various publishers and industry friends. b) most people who took them from me were TOTAL STRANGERS WHO COULD'VE CARED LESS. Most of these probably ended up on the floor of the con!

I've attached screenshots from email records to show the exactness of these ashcans as I figure it's time to have a hard document of exactly what is what/how many of each there are! So here it is: THE MASTER LIST:

    1. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - C2E2 - 16 Pages - 35 COPIES

    2. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - SDCC - 28 Pages - 30 COPIES

    3. FIve Ghosts #1 - NYCC '12 Self-Published Edition - 40 Pages - 60 COPIES

    4. Five Ghosts #1 - ECCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 40 Pages - 200 COPIES

    5. Five Ghosts #1-5 - SDCC '13 Edition/Variant Covers (SET) - 50 COPIES

    6. Five Ghosts #6 - NYCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 200 COPIES

And now photos for my orders of the original Ashcans…

So consider this the OFFICIAL word on Five Ghosts rarities…and happy bidding!

Well this is going to get interesting...looks like i am going to have to start turning "tricks" at the local Senior Center to afford this one. Is a 75 year old still considered a Cougar.

  6. That was a really nice price on that ECCC.

I was going back and forth on whether to pull the trigger or not.

Yeah it was. Only book I need right now is the Ashcan, but honestly I wasn't going to spend more than $700 on it.

    Past tense lol

Funny thing is...if someone posted one for sale for $700 last month I would probably not considered it but I was the one who just got outbid for $700. I am now officially out of the running. Really shouldn't have been bidding anyway.

  7. Maybe.

    Maybe not.

Depends what you mean by overvalued.

    Supply and demand.

I am saying that the next one will not be:

    1. Auctioned off by the creator

    2. Have as much hype

    3. Condition probably won't be as good.

But the price this one goes for may drive the price of the next one. Honestly if this was just a random auction I personally think $700 could have been the ceiling.

  8. agreed.

+/- 2K is now the bar

    :o

I will be bummed if the bidding gets close to $2K as it will raise the asking prices on any others that are potentially available...but I will be very happy for Frank.

Still, I'll take the under as I don't think the market is quite there yet for an ungraded ashcan. As it is, the bidding has been stunning. A preemptive congrats to the eventual winner!

I am with u. I will be happy for Frank but the next one is going to be overvalued because of this auction.

  9. how are the SDCC counted in the registry...as a complete set?

I requested a Five Ghosts registry a month or two ago but I think it will be a while before it's actually entered.

I think my SDCC set would grade out 9.8 or better but it would be Green Label so...

  10. Sitting at $700.00 now.

What to do, what to do...?

This is brutal. This is literally the only Modern Comic item on my wish list. And there is no way. Like I said in another thread this will hopefully bring others to the "Ebay light" because I am not as concerned about condition (just want a decent 9.0 copy).

  11. The fact that the creator himself is auctioning this off is in part driving this meteoric rise IMHO. I don't know if I have ever wanted a collectible so much and been so resolute in the fact that it won't happen. Grrrrrrr.

  12. lol I am not even bidding just felt it was appropriate lol good luck guys.

Obviously I am kidding to a degree...I really do want one. As a handful of Board Members on here can attest (b/c I have asked several who I have purchased from to be on the lookout). So I will be bidding possibly. Gone a little crazy lately w/ the purchases.

yeah I see you on the sales thread :takeit: all day lol crazy guy if I had a gig right now I would be doing the same damn thing.

That is how I got my Regular EoW #1 CGC 9.9 for $200. Trolling the sales thread

  13. lol I am not even bidding just felt it was appropriate lol good luck guys.

  14. I have a lot of Christmas traditions. My dad used to and since his passing my son reads the Night Before Christmas every Christmas Eve. We watch Ralphie in Christmas Story and Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation ( I think Todd would feel at home in that show ) and I never make my kids go anywhere Christmas Day. We visit everyone prior to Christmas. I listen to The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Elvis, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Mariah Carey.

I can't believe I've never had a Christmas comic. Hitman ? Kind of. I'm hoping to add Todd to the mix. lol

I'm a big fan of everything you just mentioned, but gotta put It's a Wonderful Life at the top of my list of traditions.

Zuzu's Petals are what it's all about. Greatest Christmas Movie ever...not even open for debate.

  15. But Tom has such a nice Mustache. It would has stole the show.

He definitely "rocked" the Porn Stache!

One of my favorite actors. Lots of charm and charisma. He has aged with style and is now one of the leads in Blue Bloods. Great show.

He will always be Magnum PI to me.

  16. Yeah, it's a keeper.

Not sure how old some of you are but i was 8 or 9 when Raiders of the Lost Ark came out and i think that is why this resonates with me so much. It reminds me of Raiders which takes me back to my childhood...simpler more peaceful times. :)

Man, I've seen that show dozens of times and never new that was improv. Incredible as to me it is one of the most memorable scenes from any movie. Lucas and Spielberg were on fire back then.

Did u know Tom Selleck was originally cast as Indiana Jones? Cannot imagine anyone but Harrison Ford playing that role.

  17. Yeah, it's a keeper.

I was 16 or 17 when it came out and I can still hear the music. Buy the soundtrack and play it while watching Fabian battle super spiders and I'll bet you get the same feel. lol

Sword versus gun was classically great the first time I saw it. lol

That was not supposed to be shot like that...Harrison Ford went Lone Wolf when they were shooting that scene and Spileberg loved it so much that they went with him whipping out the gun and shooting the dude. It was originally supposed to be a drawn out fight. Raiders was the movie that made me love going to the Theatre.

  18. Yeah, it's a keeper.
