  1. I have a question, how can you "stall" a 72 hour deadline in 48 hours? :shrug:
    No one?

    I think people are trying to move on from any sort of conflict starting discussion or answering questions with potential snark. :sorry:

    I see, snark is reserved for after offers are posted.

    Go back to the posts this morning. There was already a LOT of discussion about people being rushed and things of that nature.

    I think people are just trying to move on and experience the love of the Tree.

    Apologies, I was at work all day and was unable to join the conversation until now.

    God. How dare you ask a question that the answer was posted already. 50 pages ago (in an hour). Sheesh!

    :baiting::hi:

  2. I originally put up an offer that was soundly rejected, I offered another several hours later which many members seemed to like. It was claimed then rescinded, several members who had previously calmed stated they were interested. So I left the offer up because I knew someone wanted it and to irritate Jiminy Cricket. Had there been no interest in my offer after it was claimed and rescinded I would have offered something else. 48 hours does not stall the thread. There were multiple "giveaways" during that time.

    You're A ok in my book :applause:

    +1

    :roflmao: That is amazing.

  3. Speaking of freebies; having a great day at work so…

    Free to the next boardie who claims it and who hasn’t already claimed or received any other freebie(s) in this thread. I’ll cover postage in the CONUS and the first $10 for International.

    (thumbs u :applause:

  4. So that's the 2 ASM's

    The hardback book, and if ajulliay doesn't mind - the Deadpool Taco truck!

    Does that sound ok to everyone?

    Ehh... I really think the offers should be solely from the offerer. I was just putting this up as a rando to somebody who would jones on it

  5. Now, as it's the Giving tree, and it's a freebie - if ajulliay doesn't mind - can I add this to Ducky's offer, in the hope that this thread keeps rolling?

    I'm indifferent, but I think that's against Harvey's rules...

  6. I still think it is odd that someone gets to keep their item even if no one claims theirs. It would allow someone to get a couple of big ticket items without giving anything in return before they get kicked out..

    Even tho they'd only get one strike, it would probably get them a veto right away the next time they claim something. So they'd be out of the thread pretty quick...

  7. I'm not ready to lower the one :takeit: per 30 day period yet.

    What I AM considering doing is allowing an offer that has been posted and unclaimed for over 24 hours free to be claimed by anyone, including someone who has already claimed something within 30 days.

    Thoughts?

    I think your rules are good as they are. I think eventually this thread will settle into something amazing. Continual changing of the already solid rules will just turn this into a glorified PIF. 2c

    Believe me Andre, I hear what you're saying. But I have to consider a "feeding frenzy" like this last weekend where numerous offers are taken and people use their claims. I want to be able to have a way to let them still participate while also ensuring those that haven't yet still have first "dibs". I don't see any harm if an offer has been sitting and everyone has had a decent opportunity to take it and don't - if there is a willing taker, why not let them. Everyone that takes something still has to offer something up in return and face receiving a strike or a veto from the offeror. More :takeit: also means more chances of receiving a strike and losing the ability to participate in the future. (shrug)

    I get where you're coming from, but if we're averaging 5 claims per day, that's 150 claims per month. I truly don't think that's too many out of all the awesome people on this board. Commenting from obvious personal experience, the constant tweaks to well thought out rules is slowing the claiming process more than the offers themselves. I think your rules are solid. Changing the rules daily will only lead to a progressive decline in the integrity of the thread.

  9. To me it would depend on the year, just like a regular slab. A modern double cover would command less of an increase than a silver age double cover. 2c

    Nothing tight now, but looking at a minor silver age key (asm 50) with a double cover. Just deciding if I will pay extra for the defect.

    For me it would also depend on both the covers. If it's a silver age with a pristine inner cover and outer, I probably wouldn't care. If they're both right and tight, I'd have a conflicting inner monologue...

  10. Are all parts of the rules being strictly enforced? If so then why is there a "strike" exception for the current offer? Nowhere in the rules does it say "if the consensus agrees that current offering is good then a strike will not be given." By making this an exception won't this create issues in the future by having members claim future crappy offers as a "great offer" when in fact it isn't. If all it takes is for one or two people to bail out someone's drek offer then what about a few people to post how great an offer is? Would that cause an exception too?

    Can everyone please discuss this?

    We talked about it and I believe that if someone offers something that is generally accepted is a fair and generous offer and for whatever reason is NOT claimed, they shouldn't get a strike.

    :news::news::news::news::news::news:

    How do I put this into the rules though? Is it a majority vote? Is there a poll? I need to address this in the rules and need everyone's input.

    :news::news::news::news::news::news:

    If an :takeit: is put out, and the previous offerer has the option to veto, then maybe if the current offer expires, then they also have the option of negating the strike? Either that or Harvey.

  11. Is this the new offer?

    Ya gotta love the 'Take it or Else I'll Let it Expire' ultimatums. :eyeroll:

    God forbid someone actually putting some effort into it and changing it up every so often out of respect for all boardies, and keeping the thread/good karma rolling.

    Well, you were a horribly useless person in PIF. Don't know why I should expect different here

  12. Screw it. I guess I'll be the guinea pig for all of it in this thread.

    Big daddy, sorry, but your offers have continually stalled the PIF, so I don't think this is shaping up to be any different.

    I use my veto.

    My offer is back up now. It's not changing. Either somebody else can claim, Hokie can veto, or it can expire. I'm fine with any of those choices at this point.

  13. People were being very disrespectful to the previous poster. His offers were good it just took some time for the right person to come along and claim it. Insulting a person's genuine offer is against the spirit of this thread.

    In other words :foryou: play nice!

    Please. Nobody's fooled and the situation is being watched.

    Man. If you didn't like my offers, fine. But now you're just being a piece of mess about it.

  14. I'm saddened that the current offerer jumped on an awesome offer as soon as it was posted. Yet waited 12 hours to post his offer. Then after it sitting there for several hours, with no takers, still hasn't bothered to change it up, in the hopes of moving this thread along. Please put as much effort into posting your offers as you do in continously refreshing this thread looking for a big score.

    You really have no clue if you think I'm trolling this thread for scores.

    There's no point in mixing it up yet, because there's too much person_without_enough_empathying for my offer to stay on the front page.

    If people don't want mystery boxes, fine. Now that it's in the rules I won't post one again. Any cursory search of my participation should show I don't to the minimum when it comes to that, but whatever.

    As far as exclusives go, my participation in the last Holiday Raffle and PIF should give a gauge of what I'd have to offer.

    Last time I posted an offer at 2 in the morning, which was a statue, I got tons of PM flack for it. Hence waiting til generally everybody was around to post this offer. If it's not up to spec, it will get vetoed or expire.
