  1. 893applaud-thumb.gif Congratulations -- that's a very fresh looking copy.

Seller graded it as a Good, base upon some esoteric standard along with every other book that was listed. They were all "good" The other photos show white pages and a very clean back cover.

    I'm hoping it's at least a fine.

    Here's to hoping 893crossfingers-thumb.gif1169749-68_12.jpg1169749-fb_12.jpg

Now I'm assuming all pages are there.......

  2. Take a look at this auction-

This book is listed in Gerber but it sure doesn't appear to be a comic book! Major error in the Gerber guide with this one.

Steet and Smith would put photos and real life stories within their books on a regular basis. It's possible that there are cartoons or art within the book but unless you have it in hand, there's no telling. Does anyone have a copy that could confirm this?

  3. Kudos to Divad for disliking Allen Shevy

Hey, we stick together around here sumo.gif

Have you checked out my lastest information on the saga. Bumps are always appreciated.

No, but I think you should just let it go . . . it's not worth the strife. You made your point, now breathe deeply. flowerred.gif

    Must get air.........need oxygen.......

It's pretty much over on the boards, unless someone inadvertently bumps the thread. It can die a slow page shifting death. Thanks to all for letting me rant a bit.

  4. The WWII covers ended at #66, after that from 67-78 the vast majority of the covers feature the Torch battling gangsters and bank robbers. I've read in a number of places that MM's sales declined dramatically after WWII and I think that with #79 the editors (I think that Stan is back) were trying to increase sales with a new cover themes. I've got almost all of the run from #79 up and I try to post some of better covers over the next fews weeks.

Can tell you about the story as I haven't read the issue, I'll have to find a low grade copy somewhere.

I always love it when people have high grade copies that they are afraid to open. poke2.gif

I'd love to see your timely issues. maybe you could scan the stories too. 893scratchchin-thumb.gifstooges.gif

I have the same problem with a few books, but not most. cloud9.gif

  5. I've got a Golden Age Supersnipe V2 #7, great black cover. It's a one staple book.

Graded Qualified 8.0 with a detached centerfold and it doesn't bother me one bit.

It even has a $5 price penciled on the back upper right corner .

I paid a pittance for it....but with that said I also have a pretty nice reader.

If your selling it raw, describe the defects and call it apparent just like CGC.

If you are buying it, compare it to what a G/VG by wear would look like and pay accordingly higher.

If you are keeping it, no worries, it's still complete and readable.

Lots of great books have noted prices on their interior page from days gone by, and it's not much of a detraction in my opinion except if it's a book looking to be graded VF or better.

I'd say most collectors would easily pay up to a VG/FN price for a comic with a detached centerfold if it was otherwise high grade (NM) and possibly up to a FN value, depending on rarity. Heck, would you rather have a NM with a full length sub crease (VG/FN) or a NM with a loose centerfold that can be tucked in nicely.

Eye appeal......is a very good thing.
