  1. Its almost impossible to get "ripped off on ebay" as a buyer. Perhaps if you pay by check or money order, other than that I can't think of a way. It sure can be a hassle at times but "ripped off"? don't see it
  2. From the article, "The same comic book in mint condition would have brought closer to $15,000 to $18,000, Magee said." HMMMMM.
  3. The only issue that you need to concerned about is unwarranted negative feedback since you did nothing wrong. In the future use the Global Shipping Program so you don't have this hassle anymore.
  4. From what I can tell the only way ebay is making more money it's because there are more foreign sales, it isn't because they're charging more for shipping. As a seller I collect shipping from the buyer for what it costs to send the item to the Shipping Center (Kentucky), but sometimes I'm able to see what my buyer was charged for shipping from the center to their destination and I have yet to see an amount that wasn't close to what I would have charged. In fact I know that the Shipping Centers at times repackage items for safer shipping overseas, I don't believe they charge extra for this. So the extra I see is the extra shipping that has to be paid to the shipping center. That is if free shipping isn't offered. For the record, I'm not talking about just comic sales. I can see how it doesn't make sense to use the GSP for low value comics
  5. Just curious why doesn't the UK tax comics? I can understand the current periodicals but back issues that are collected seems strange that they are exempt.
  6. But your honor he asked me very politely to falsify the customs form so I did it. This thread is justifying the existence of the GSP.
  7. This is news to me and I can't find any place to confirm it. A link would be helpful.
  8. "though by default, all US sellers are "in" I have the option to use the GSP on each individual listing so I don't know what this means. One of the hassles that I no longer deal with is buyers requesting me to lie on customs form. I never would and then I would get an angry customer when they had to pay taxes. With a Paypal dispute a click a way and my item overseas I lost 1000's of dollars over the years. This doesn't happen anymore. The GSP takes the hit. That being said I expect changes to come from the GSP, I can't imagine its making money.
  9. As a seller I only use the Global Shipping Program for international orders. It has eliminated a great deal of hassles. I haven't really noticed a loss of sales either.
  10. there has to be some understanding of what was to happen with them ....what was it?
  11. go to them and get the comics, if they don't have them request fair market value, if they don't cooperate use the law to get your losses
  12. thanks all, still on its way but if you guessed 5.0 you are correct

  17. Hello all, I think we have a resolution. I decided that the right thing to do is pay the return shipping and use this as a learning experience. I will send $15 to Harvey. In addition Harvey doesn't want the books, neither do I, so if anyone who was involved in this discussion wants them please contact Harvey and he has my permission to mail them to you, if they go undeclared they will come back to me. Sorry for the problem everyone.,
  18. For everyone 's information Harvey was refunded fully and I told him he can keep the books,. I'm ready to move and call it done. No strings attached.
  19. Sorry, sometimes I fail, I'm done here. I try not to get involved in these threads it brings out the worst in me, I'm done
