I've sold so many magazines over the years (not @Stevemmg or @The Lions Den levels but still a lot), but I'm glad to see them finally getting the recognition they deserve. While I still love some comics, increasingly they feel small and less interesting compared to magazines, digests, paperbacks, and pulps. And Warrens are the best of the best when it comes to magazines.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking I may have to open the vault and run another mag thread soon.

It's taken me many years but i've finally completed the set of 8 Stork Books digests.
A true classic Golden Age Vintage Paperback digest line. The first 6 with covers by Fred Rodewald and the last 2 by L.B. Cole. I love the muted quality of the ink colors against the dramatic GGA.#5 was the last in line for me... it's a nice copy...
and completes the set 🤘🤘🤘
Very nice, SA!! I think I'm still missing 2 or 3 of them but I can't remember which ones off the top of my head. What a great set!

Yeah, but most of those people probly aren't sporting a slabbed 7.5 EERIE #23.
Lots of reasons for people selling books for less than their value- liquidating a loved ones estate, need cash fast, stopped collecting years ago and not current on values, etc. In any case, it's a great deal that someone got.

Another one that seems like someone got a really good deal.
Agreed. Another BIN for cheap. They definitely happen as I've been the lucky recipient of more than a few. Kind of like going to another town into a LCS and finding a hot book for guide. Congratulations to the buyer.

A lot of great books in this thread!
I think a lot of board members have yet to discover how wild the Men's Adventure Mags are. If anyone is unfamiliar, these books are incredibly scarce in high grade. Some of these books you may not see for sale again for years! GLWTS!

FWIW, I purchased several books from him in the same sales thread and he did pm me after a delay, had been sick, but then shipped the books and included a really nice extra book for the inconvenience. My experience was very positive, all in all.
@The Troll King, just give this buyer a heads up on status. I'm sure they just want to know that you're doing okay.

No idea if any of it is true or not... but, I've heard pulp grading is a lot closer than we think. I've heard NOT this year from multiple employees at CGC, then Mike stated above, DEFINITELY this year, and a whole bunch in between from various collectors. If the chatter and collector rumors are correct, I would expect to see some sort of announcement in less than 2 months...

Any updates on timeline for CGC grading pulps?
Not until they get their TATs on comics down to less than 2 months.

Here's another one that's one of my favorites. This thread is mostly populated with @lbcolefan's spectacular collection and this is one of his:

I would not necessarily do that. They (CGC) might find it, and they might give it a purple label for trimming. Juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze, when its possibly a PLOD.
Apologies, I was mostly joking. I don't think that separating siamese pages, trimming over folds, etc. should be considered restoration, but CGC obviously does. So you're correct, if you're going to send in a book for certification, then yes, leave it as is.

Nice pickup There's so many of them... it's a life's work!
There are a lot of them! And there's a lot of stuff to pursue within the genre- original Pussycat stories are all printed there, early issues have amazing covers and interior art by some of the best like George Gross, Victor Prezio, Walter Popp, Basil Gogos, Mel Crair, James Bama, Rudy Nappi, Clarence Doore, Mort Kunstler, Norman Saunders, Rafael Desoto, Howell Dodd, Charles Copeland, Gil Cohen, etc., and then there are the Nazi issues with all the crazy covers by Eastman (monkey arm reattachment is my personal favorite), and last there are unusual special issues like Man's Life with the Weasel's Ripped My Flesh cover that is sought after because of Zappa, the Bluebook issue with the early Ian Fleming story, etc.
It's a rich landscape of material!.

MM600 was a Van Johnson war movie titled "The Enemy General"
MM601 is a movie tie-in to Hammer Films' "The Stranglers of Bombay" (don't recall seeing a copy).
Wow! Great to know. Thanks, Bookery!

The Brides of Dracula was the title I was referring to (I know you know, just saying). Very tough book in grade. Jack the Ripper is also on the list but it's a little out of the subset. I keep wondering if there's a Monarch MM601. Haven't been able to find anything about one. It seems odd they would start at MM602 with the movie adaptations but I suppose it's possible.

Great Maguire selection (Babe in the Woods is Lou Marchetti tho )
Sonuvva... You're absolutely correct. I got a little grabby with the images.

Get a nice sharp knife and finish the job. But do it very carefully.
Definitely use a ruler.

Too late! @Surfing Alien and @Pat Calhoun among others have opened my eyes to the specialness of these bad boys. They're very cool and still fairly reasonable for your collecting dollar. You would love the covers by Robert Maguire!
I really need to pare down my overstock though. It's kind of out of hand...

Turn around times on Comic Mags
in Comic Magazines
Posted
Welcome to the boards!! (and even better, the magazine section!)
My understanding is that for standard submissions, TATs for both comics and mags are about the same (5-12 months). But if someone else knows more, feel free to correct me. It's an awful thing to have to wait that long. Here's a thread from a few other board members for more information.
