I'm guessing that it may be a mess or hassle to pay the artist to do that.

See i would have thought that issue settled since they paid originally to have the artwork drawn using their IP, especially now that they settled with the Ditko estate as many have reported. Think about how many guys would have to buy this comic just to say their Ditko Spider-man cover collection was complete! LOL could probably sell 5k to them alone!

What I never got is that with all the variant covers that get published these days, why hasn’t someone thought to use one of these classic era unpublished pieces as a variant cover? You don’t think Marvel would love to have an original previously unpublished Ditko cover variant on some key book/product?

I stopped buying from a certain dealer after he took a hard political stance a few years ago. I'd rather support dealers who don't tell me what I should think -- or who to hate.
The last 20 (and 4 in particular) years have beaten the desire to care about what any one else says or thinks out of me. I understand now we’re all just silly emotion driven people, from the “experts” to the layman. It’s best to just accept people are a little broken now and not take them so seriously.

I have a lot of things in this week’s auction. Tons of watchers, we shall see how Wednesday goes.

Is there an official photo listing post from the show?

Seems like John Delaney is a name we should know. Nice drawing.
Man has a lot of credits, but it’s all animated style books and actual animation. Smaller range not normally in most of our wheelhouses.

Well mystery solved, apparently it’s John Delaney.

Hey, seen others post this type of question with some success, figured I’d try.
I got this tick drawing in a lot of published art from various decades. It’s very well done and has the x marks for black inking meaning someone intended it to be finished in a specific way. Anyone recognize the image, or the signature/style? It could be a very tight pencil to some commission meant to be inked, but it would be the only commission in the 100+ pieces in the lot so I’m suspect of that.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Top 10 cover? Do tell!
Joe Quesada Sword of Azrael 4. It’s weird I know but after all these years I have a top 10 list of book art all between 1983-1994, yet they aren’t all normal tops. SoA is completely burned into my memory. The way Joe drew musculature and the overall environment was so different from anything I had ever read, the square angular stylized design, it was so powerful it changed how I responded to art. Frank Miller started it for me, he brought a sense of almost mechanical violence to all the characters and worlds he created, but it was a rough asymmetrical world that at times took me out of the experience. In SoA Quesada brought the Brutal but he married it with slick design and symmetry that was more pleasing to the eye (at least for me) that I was instantly hooked. Mignola and Tony Harris had similar design senses and I really responded to it. All of the cover and poster art (beside 3) do it for me from that series. Any of them are one entry in top 10 wants for me. I have my favorite image from the series already, the Az character DPS, so the itch is scratched but a cover too would be nice.

It was another good show. Solid attendance and I saw a lot of new art from last years tables. No comic link but most from last time showed up. Made some sales collector to collector and saw a top 10 cover for me, but it was over 50k and I just can’t spend that emotionally (and financially wouldn’t be so much fun either lol). The energy in the room was good, was great to see a bunch of old friends again. Went out to lunch with a few guys I’ve know for years.
Overall it’s a 8 hour door to door trip to get there, and as usual it was worth it. The money is good when you make it, but just seeing guys you know and comparing scores and stories is always a major part. I loved that more people brought art too, just makes for fun show and tell and sometimes good trades or buys.

Checking in with the board to see who all is going this year to the show? It’s appears it’s back in Hasbrouck Heights at the Holiday Inn again. I think I’ve been to every one over the last 7 years probably going again this year.

Didn't even last 45 days. Whole thing was and is nothing more than standard planned comic book business machinations. I do hope those who whined feel at least a little bit silly.

Looks like a cool update to me. BTW, I've been a fan of the character since Cap 241, which was the first image of the Punisher I ever saw.
Who is the Punisher? I just read the thread wow had no idea. This ad makes me think, by asking, it won’t be the real punisher? Just weird all around. Frank was always fun to read, just pure aggression and Justice. I also really loved the Netflix first series and the fight scene in the prison. I hope that for future fans they don’t go away from his true origin and character makeup, he was almost perfect.

I think in the last 35+ years of this goofy business I’ve paid for exactly two commissions, both inking/backgrounds on pencil pieces by the original artists (sometime around 1999). I just don’t get commissions beyond stuff like that. I’ve toyed with the idea of paying for sketch card commissions on licensed Topps or UD blanks, but for larger pieces I just never understood the appeal.
