  1. Maybe the Sword of Fire and Ice will now fly under the radar and end at only $7k.
  2. Oh and Chang currently has the top bid Even he stopped bidding at $1,000 increments, but then another idjit did. It became a public peeing contest.
  3. I hope those people never start buying comic book art.
  4. And the Volkan Baga original version is so much better than the Chris Rahn one.
  5. Oh boy, giving Magic the Gathering an entirely different meaning.
  6. On the one hand he's doing the others a favor by basically telling them there's no point for them to waste any time on the piece and they might as well direct their energy elsewhere. On the other hand, what I perceive as an arrogant and impolite way of doing so rubs me the wrong way, The surprising thing is that he's using another one of Baga's new paintings as his avatar. I guess he's going to buy that one as well.
  7. I hope your friend doesn't want the Baga sword of fire and ice because the auction started on FB and a guy there decided to show how much of a BSD he is and use $1,000 increments, so the price jumped from $3,000 to $6,000 in 4 bids, Unless that BSD is your friend of course and the tell him congrats on the new piece.
  8. Seems like the art for the new set coming out, Kaladesh, is coming out strong out of the gate. Also, looks like artists got to each do more pieces than usual, Chris Rahn already auctioned off two pieces on eBay (both ended $3,250 I believe); has another one in auction right now(already at $5,800 with 4 days to go and even though I find it to be the weakest of the bunch); one offered for a fixed price on FB; and may have another one for auction shortly. Volkan Baga has at least 5 pieces his rep is/will auction on FB . Matt Stewart has one piece on eBay right now (at $4,200 with 4 days to go).
  9. Probably too late for you to change everything to Jade Hole, eh?
  10. Only watched the show and tell video for now and I must say it was interesting to hear an artist commenting on the art and the techniques that probably were involved in creating it. I know you had artists on the podcast before but I believe there wasn't an accompanying show and tell video.
  11. That was the very first movie I remember ever seeing in a theatre.
  12. Thanks for the answers guys. And in a nice coincidence, the coming HA illustration auction has the original John Alvin painting for E.T. (note: huge pic):
  13. This seems like a good place to ask: what does a "color comprehensive" mean in the process of coming up with the artwork for a movie poster?
  14. Well, it's now up for sale on CAF. Lists both Cooke and Bone as pencillers and provides the following description:
  15. I dunno. There's thousands and thousands and thousands of originals. Even given what you said. Scarce compared to comic art, for sure. But not what I typically think of as scarce. I was trying to explain why some of the current art (i.e., last several years) yields higher prices than art from ten years ago.
  16. I think another reason current art fetches higher prices is the scarcity of original art. The switch to digital painting in the MTG and other CCG world was much more rapid and drastic than in our neck of the woods, leaving only a handful of desired artists who continue to work traditionally. And eBay has become the method of sale for the primary market in some cases, e.g., Chris Rahn.
  17. Didn't have an opportunity to get any McKeever art so far but I think that any McKeever thread that doen't include the cover artwork to Superman's Metropolis isn't worth its name, so here it is:
  18. I may have noted before I know very little about the FMV of MTG original art, but what the heck is this? Madness? Weird selling tactic? Seller has no idea of FMV himself and doesn't want to risk a no-reserve auction? http://www.ebay.com/itm/MTG-Magic-Original-Magic-Art-Alpha-Blessing-by-Julie-Baroh-/182189294076?hash=item2a6b5401fc:g:tI0AAOSwOVpXdF5K http://www.ebay.com/itm/MTG-Magic-7th-Edition-City-of-Brass-Original-Art-by-Ron-Walotsky-/182189298372?hash=item2a6b5412c4:i:182189298372
  19. I was curious if this made its way to the 'bay because of my post, but either way glad to see it found a good home with a boardie.
  20. If you meant Glen then no, there's a newer episode - a discussion with Nick Dragotta.
  21. Fun episode. Looking forward to reading North of South.
  22. But seriously, I'm not a Blevins fan, but that's one of his few pieces that I agree are good to great.
  23. Someone actually managed to deal successfully with Steve D.? Congrats!
