  1. I don't kiss and tell. Definitely going back Thursday on the way home. I'll have time to dig then.
  2. Bob's Comic Books Today, I drove to Birmingham, Alabama, for work. I did the perfunctory search for local comic stores, and I found Bob comic shop just outside Birmingham, Alabama. The pictures on Google were promising. The outside looked rundown, and it seemed like this place actually had back issues. I found the store, and sure enough there were bars on the doors and it was in what barely could pass for a dilapidated strip mall. But once inside, all the walls had comics on them, and there were boxes of back issues and even a few slabs. The owner, Bob, have been in business for about 20 years. He was clearly a dedicated collector himself and someone devoted to what he'd mitted was a bit of an anachronism: a store built for filling out runs. I found some good stuff, and a lot more that would have been fun to pick though if I had more time and more money. But here is what I did find.
  3. I found an old school comic store today in Birmingham, Alabama. I asked them owner this same question. He said that it's not as easy as it used to be. In the past, people brought in a whole bunch of Marvel or maybe a whole bunch of DC. Now the collections tend to be focused on one title, or maybe just important books. And a lot of the people selling to him are people who bought from him over maybe the last 10 years or so. Obviously, the internet has changed a lot of things for this guy.
  4. Never heard of them. Can you share some pics of a few of your favorites?
  5. Ya, I just sent a book off for pressing that I think will gain in appearance, but not in grade, which for that book for me is perfectly fine. This issue also calls for the question: if a press will do that much good and bring some green, green profit, why not do it yourself? For high-value books, the pay off can be worth the money put in.
  6. If something is presumably pressable to a higher grade, we price it at the higher grade, right?
  7. I just saw this. http://n.pr/2s8FcMD I was so fascinated by the camp of that show. Couldn't help but watch the reruns when I was a kid.
  8. I'm in Birmingham next week. Do you take toddlers in the middle of potty training?
  9. Covert Comics and Collectibles in Foley, Alabama. Check it out.
