  1. Generations of fanboys would unite, and with no remaining conflict in their lives, burn civilization to the ground.
  2. ARGH! Great grab. I'll snag a copy one day.
  3. Funny, that's the first I've heard of it. I opened the door to talks, you slammed it shut. What's funny is that you did not introduce this "buy back" argument until well into this debacle. You quoted me not remembering the state of the backing board. You're attempting to extrapolate that to how it was "received/packaged." See what I mean about critical reading? You either really are that incapable of reason or you really believe this web you've spun or you are deliberately attempting to equivocate on my comments to achieve what you want. None of those is particularly flattering of you. Thanks to those who have proposed solutions. Repeating myself here, but I have no faith in this seller. It needs the third party arbitration of PayPal. Maxwell has the book, and I have yet to be refunded. Let's see if he will step up and do the right thing. And really, I've indulged this thread far beyond what was prudent. Going to do my best to stay out of here....
  4. As stated already, Maxwell's admittedly disdainful tone, volatile posts, denigrating statements, condescension, and extraordinary display of illogic does not give me faith that I will find an amicable resolution, nor a reasonable one, with him. His behavior has been to attack. See the end of his PMs. I'm going to regret this. He's gone punitive. Would you trust that person to do the right thing at this point?
  5. Scanned back through my thread posts and the PM exchange. Where did I say I don't remember something? Not responding to Maxwell's baits and distortions is a far cry from being forgetful. He's mischaracterized so many statements at this point, that it's hard to know where to start.
  6. Okay, where's the irony trophy? You just took it home for a solid year with that comment.
  7. Well, we don't know that he actually contacted a detective. What smacks of duplicity to me is the initial editing of a PM when he learned that I had a time-stamped receipt from the office almost 30 minutes prior to his balking at the return, then passing off the edit as a "typo." Then he's edited posts here. No doubt, also typos. Fortunately, I've had the presence of mind to capture these pages as they've generated so as to know prior and post edits. Also fortunate for my computer, I have RMA on ignore so those documents are half as long as they otherwise would be. It's also hard not to read his Maxwell's attacks as rhetorical attempts to put me on the defensive and poison the well for any response I make that doesn't comport with his fabricated version of events. Making demands then avoiding similar requests made of him also raises suspicion about his motives at this point. It's been rather ugly, but at least the CIA isn't involved.
  8. Don't dodge. People might think you're operating off a double standard.
  9. Voldemort slabs are really tough to open. I often avoid them if it's something I want to crack out.
  10. Just a gorgeous copy, TeeDub! White pages, too. Oh man, I'd be tempted to crack that one! It'd look good in a new slab, too.
  11. This thread helped me a great deal. I had to fiddle a bit for better scans, but got these once I did. I think the blacks could be a bit darker to be truer, but it's easy to go overboard on blacks.
  12. 1500 beans ain't nothin'. My wife said no hot stuff until this is resolved.
  13. Looks like a great grab. Don't know anything about the book tbh or its value, but if TGH didn't just take some of my money, I'd be sorely tempted.
  14. Found this interesting and wanted to share. that thread stays clean. http://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2017/06/15/muslims-comics-refugees
  15. DRINKS ON KEVIN! Nicely done, Solar. I'm definitely in the wrong sales field!
  16. I dig the WWII stuff, but this pedigree's history is just too cool. WWII cryptographer? Heck yeah!
  17. I love the Sups #14, too, not to mention several others. I voted for the National Comics. I have really gotten into WWII covers, war bond covers, and the like. Many of the war bonds or hero portraits (not in action scenes) are smiling heroes cajoling us to buy war bonds, but then you get some like this where Uncle Sam is about to open crack some heads. I like the similar Captain Marvel (11?) for the same reason. Also, I think it could look really cool with some modern flourishes and a contemporary look.
  18. I was surprised on how long many of my lowball bids held out. I got one that I knew was borderline, but two others were really, really close. On the other hand, the two books I sold did much better than I had anticipated.
