  1. Speaking of Isaac, I just picked this book up yesterday. Strangely this book has been going for 1/3-1/2 of what is usually goes for over the last month. Only 8 books left now to complete the pain in the gnome press set.
  2. Ha ha. All the Indiana Jones characters from the beginning of the first movie are about to get eaten. And now the plea. I'm addicted to pulps. But my "Grail" would be a complete set of Wild Game Stories. See all the pulps above? Except for the gun molls and the wild game (which would be counterproductive, don't you think?) I'd trade any of them for another issue of Wild Game Stories. Do you have one for sale? I'll take it. Do you know someone who has an issue? Introduce me to them so I can make things happen. Do you have one but don't really want to give it up? I'll trade for it. Just about anything you can think of. To a HUGE disadvantage on my part. There must be something I have that you'd want more. So any of you who have a lead. Do a dork a favor and put me on the trail of another issue or two. Much obliged mi amigos. - M
  3. And what will take the number one spot? Something rare. Something pretty. And sadly, something I'd go to insane lengths to get. Traded a book out of my ebay store for it. And thank you my new favorite pulp. Shut up and show me the pic already. Psht. You can wait like everybody else. I'm building up to it. A picture I'm sure Phil will steal for his website about 3 seconds after I post it. This is issue number 3 folks. Lion's and TIGERS and bears, Oh my!
  4. This one for sure I thought would be my number one pick up. Yes, I was the insufficiently_thoughtful_person who paid 1250 for the thing. But viewing it in person, it's in fine. And I have a thing for the ladies. And a story with an Ape? Come on. I need a life, but until then, here you go!
  5. Here's number 3. I've wanted the set for a while. At least I got one of them. And at only 175. Another Carl copy. Soldiers of FORTUNE. Yay. I'm getting too excited.
  6. So this thread has been dead for a minute. Thought I'd revive it with some pics and a plea. Here are my top 13 pickups for the last 30 days in reverse order. If you want to hold on to the edge of your seats, the very last picture will be something special.
  7. had brown tape on the spine? I thought about it, but wasn't able to pull the trigger myself.
  8. nothing really monkey, we got sidetracked. if I had to guess, i'd say the entire collection of weird with those markings was available mid last year, and dave bought most of it and the rest ended up on heritage or something like. I'd value the 5 books you got at around 1250 on ebay with bin's if you don't mind sitting on them a while. You got a decent deal. not great, but you wont lose money.
  9. Dave Anderson owns action one from the mile high. The thought that he's engaging in shill bidding to make a couple extra bucks is ridiculous....
  10. and because I know everyone loves triple posts. Wouldn't a shill bidder have bid on something other then only some of his wt's? like any of the dimes, or mystery adventures, maybe that true gang or artist and models that ended way too low?
  11. lastly, I looked at mls bids. its not reminiscent of a shill bidder at all. Frankly, the ml's bids are too cheap. If he was trying to bid up the items, he would have showed up as 2nd on most of them and 1st on a few by accident. That didn't happen. Oh, and the bidder in there with 22500 feedback, that was me. And yes, I was bidding them up too. But to be fair I was trying to win until I found something I liked more. :-p
  12. I bought a few of the wt's when he first started listing them. late 20's. since then ive bought most of the stuff that's ended in the last few weeks that is nonwt, non dime. the wt's I bought had the writing but it was viewable in the pics. he also mentioned they were trimmed in the auction. the other books I bought came exactly as described too. Don't know anything about heritage wts though. I'm 99.9% sure he does NOT have anyone shill bidding for him. Frankly the guys a millionaire many times over, and a serious collector, to be bidding up a couple auctions is silly for an extra couple thousand and possibly a black mark on his name in pulp collecting. As far as leaving feedback goes, as someone who's off and on there selling semiregularly, I can tell you that while in the early 2000's 90% of buyers left feedback, nowadays, it's closer to 40%, at least for those who sell old books.
  13. I had a few copies of most of the issues including this issue. all are gone now. very hard to sell anything below vf in dime westerns
  14. I can tell you from personal experience, that that pulp would have a hard time selling on ebay for 5 bucks in even very good. I had a few copies last year (er 2012 now) ranging from vg to f, and when I tried to get rid of them, they stayed on ebay for a year, and then finally I sold them all ending at 99 cents auctions just to be rid of them. While the dime adventure, mystery, and detective are all sought after, the westerns aren't (unlike the spicy runs where all 4 are collected). They only got the one bid.
