  1. So youre saying there'sa chance? I have $100 to spend is all.
  2. Wish I could tell 13 year old me to BUY THAT COMIC!!! At age 13 was when I had the money to buy all the comics I wanted and went to drug store every month.
  3. So much about comics is lost to history-I'm glad I got on the record the origin of this amazing cover.
  4. Its funny how things happen-I just went to greggy's content to find something to confuse react to and saw in the thread someone had posted the book and I always wanted it so I wanted to know who drew it and stuff. Then being a curious guy I searched for the artist and also nerv mentioned the website so I emailed him.
  5. Plus the pens available today are far superior to the ones he used back then.
  6. And they wont be commissions apparently he's going to start doing them.
  7. No but his paintings sell in the $900-$1200 range so around that maybe. If there's a feeding frenzy for the iconic pieces that could change.
  8. I tracked down the original artist for this iconic book-he is going to be doing some cover recreations and paintings of this cover. I asked him how he came to draw the book and he replied: I was in Manhattan at the time (early 70’s) with a good buddy of mine, Bob Larkin looking for work. DC was impressed with my portfolio and asked me to create a cover without any restrictions on theme. Using a flair pen and some markers I completed the job and they accepted it. Didn’t like the commute into the city so the rest of my career l focused on working for advertising agencies and companies on Long Island. BTW, I’m considering doing a painting of that cover because of the interest in last few years. Keep an eye on his website where he will be posting the items for sale. Just an amazing piece amazing artist and amazing opportunity. Glad I reached out to him. http://charlesarmentanoart.com/ The original cover sold on Heritage in 2014 for $5700: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/covers/charlie-armentano-super-dc-giant-s-21-love-1971-cover-original-art-dc-1971-/a/7093-92010.s

  11. Ps is that book valuable because of the cover or is it rare?
  12. If he started doing cover recreations or original love themed 70s stuff would you think collectors would be interested enough to make it worth his while? Asking for a friend.
  13. He just emailed me! He is indeed the artist! I replied Can you tell me how you came to draw this cover and why you didnt do any others? The work is fantastic. Will share the results. This is a great day for comic historians!!! @Buzzetta I thought this might interest you. You know how I'm always reaching out to creators.
