  1. Cobblepot hadn't killed anyone up to that point, though, had he? Not sure it's fair to saddle Gordon with that butterfly effect.

Sort of off topic, but is anyone else creeped out by every scene involving Cobblepot and his mom?

  2. I just posted in the wrong thread, but realized that there are just too many auctions... the selling forum should be for selling...

if some want auctions, create a sub forum...

if this keeps turning into ebay junior, I for one will not be participating...

    +1 Googol

  3. So I accepted an offer from a seller to buy their book, asked for payment info, and then they listed the book for sale in the Golden/Silver age section. I know there is not a second copy, as he is using the pictures I posted the :takeit: to. So basically he tells me a price he wants to sell for, I accept, he reads the message, then posts it for sale on the forum?

Did you call no backsies, Pat?

But seriously, I hope this works out for you.

  4. Speaking of black characters, Bishop could have been awesome in X-Men. Get your A or B list actor for him. He's an interesting character, both visually and story-wise. Don't have to try and change characters, and maybe we wouldn't be stuck with Teen Wolf Beast and the same old characters yet again. .....but, they decided not to use him. Great move, Marvel.

It was Fox, but regardless, Bishop had no business being in DoFP. Ditto for Blink and Quicksilver, but he was a highlight. I hear you though. Sometimes it's a step from page to screen. Other times it's a leap.

Well....he has a lot more business than many of the characters there. Not in the classical story sense, but in the fact that he's a time traveler, is from that future, is in follow-up storys from that future, etc.

I enjoyed all 3 of those characters being in the film.

"No business" is a bit harsh. It didn't ruin anything for me, esp since I accepted Wolverine as the time traveler.

  5. I agree with every part of that Authority. If they want to improve characters by adding (here's a new twist) a good STORY then do so. These established characters have a back story and history - its not broke so don't fix it.

So, is everyone going to rail on Avengers 2? The backstory for Ultron is going to be changed since Pym is not the creator. Nebula and Yondu in GOTG look nothing like their comic book counterparts. Groot's speech pattern was nothing like the comic counterpart. Heimdall looks nothing like his comic counterpart. Bucky and Steve Rogers were not roughly the same age as shown in the movie. Modok appearance is much, much different in the comic. Sam Wilson in the 616 universe is pretty far removed from a military man in the comic. Jarvis is a butler, not a computer. I could go on and on here. Even how the Avengers came together in the comics has nothing to do with how they were assembled by SHIELD on the big screen.

The number of liberties the movies and TV are taking with these comic characters is quite huge. Having a decent actor play the part seems to be the least offensive change IMHO.

All things you listed where reasons why Marvel movies are very so-so for me.

  6. What year does this show take place, noticed the scene where Gordon was looking for the killer, everyone had typewriter s in front of them, then I started to notice the cars

“It’s a mash-up, to use the modern phrase,” Heller said. “If today Batman exists, then this world is the past. But it’s everybody’s past, an 18-year-old’s past and a 54-year-old’s past. So in your memory, the past is all mashed up together. So in this Gotham, it’s a kind of timeless world. It’s yesterday, it’s today, and it’s tomorrow all at the same time, because that’s the world that dreams live in.”

Makes sense. They're doing it with the dialog as well. Some of it is cliche (like the "drop it or I'll shoot" line), but it appears intentional - rather than lazy or bad writing. Go back and watch the scene with the weather balloon factory owner (IIRC). That was straight out of an Edward G. Robinson or other 40's/50s crime drama. Anachronism, sure. But I like it.

  7. Ok, I read the thread. I was referring to pre-sales of product you know you have coming in. This pre-sale of stuff the seller may get should stop.

There aren't enough facepalms in the world . . .

Immediately thought of Avengers 8. Kang!!!!
  8. I just feel like the show is more about the Penguin coming to power, than about anything else. Which isn't a bad thing. I still enjoy the show. I just wish they will choose a direction. (as someone mentioned earlier in this thread)

For me, it's about Gordon's story and Penguin's story. The rest is incidental. Looking at it that way, it's pretty enjoyable.

    +2 Maybe Bruce Wayne, too.
