  1. Bump since this is coming up next Saturday. This is kind of show that I like, all about the comics and action figures without the crowds of cosplay and celebrity autograph hunters. Last year's show had some big books and they were selling. I saw AF15, SC4, Hulk1, TOS39, JIM83, ST110 and other great books for sale there, I saw the first Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor sell for sure.
  2. Just saw all four #2s at my local Walmart, there were plenty of each.

  4. Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. I don't have much backstory for these books, I got the FF2 and FF5 at a Nashville gaming and comic shop about 6 months ago where they were hanging on the wall behind the register for about another 6 months. The clerk said they had a run brought in but the #1 was a Golden Record Reprint and these were the last two books they hadn't sold. I don't know if I will send off to CGC for grading, but if I do then I will post the results here.
  5. The missing corner piece is about 1/4" wide by 3/8" tall.
  6. Fantastic Four #2 lays flat, nice gloss, healthy spine with both staples attached to cover and centerfold. Main drawback is small chunk out of bottom right front cover and first 4 pages which gets smaller at each page.
  7. Fantastic Four #5 lays flat, nice gloss, healthy spine with both staples attached to cover and centerfold. Main drawback is chunk out of top front cover about 1.25" by 0.75" at the widest and tallest, some staining top right cover, and small chunk out of the top of back cover.
  8. How about the last 9.0 on eBay going for over 3k? Wow. Edit: Nevermind, the latest 9.0wp just closed for $1853, I'm calling shenanigans on the previous auction.
  9. Where's your guess, or do you just "second guess"? And while you're coming up with your guess, check out 2015's list of winners, I'll wait...
  10. It looks good, an improvement in my opinion.
  11. Was that done with an eraser or a chemical?
  12. Scored a FF1 raw today. Thanks to fellow board member trashcollector for arranging the trade opportunity and for driving today.
  13. 9 copies of the Captain Midnight 12 4 copies of the Captain Marvel Jr 99
  14. Picked these up locally, found on the Offer Up app.
  15. I bought a silver age Daredevil lot from Cydwarren. The books were accurately graded, packaged great, and shipped fast.
  16. Miraclemet, What you call opportunity, I call pressure and I stand by it. You say CEOs don't care about racial pressure, PC, etc., well try going to the news website of your choice and typing in "Academy Awards" and let me know what you think of the many articles that pop up about minorites boycotting and let me know if CEOs still don't care. Or maybe they care but won't admit it and call it opportunity like you did. Ned
  17. I don't know who will be replaced next but my bet is this: If it's a white male hero, he will be replaced with a minority (ex. Cho Hulk). If it's a villain who isn't white, then the new version will be. I thought of this while watching the Netfilx Daredevil around Christmas time. During the DD movie, they made Kingpin a black actor (Michael Clarke Duncan) who was great in my opinion. Now since everyone is bowing more and more to racial pressure, it's not just enough to have more minorities, you have to have more minority heroes. The new DD series had a white Kingpin and a black Ben Urich, so that way they added a minority that the comic didn't and he is a good guy and we get the bad white Kingpin back.
  18. Thanks for the replies, I hadn't studied on the UK price. This one has UK 60p and the only other one that I have is the green cover but it is UK L1 for the price. Maybe someone else will have some UK variants they can check but wouldn't they be standard sized?
  19. I got this cover several years ago at a Nashville show out of a dollar box. It was just a cover bagged and boarded and I never really thought much about it until recently I was comparing it to the regular #1 gold and there's more going on than just the white spiders. It is a full cover wrap printed inside and out but has no staple holes. It is slightly smaller than the standard book, about 1/2" shorter and about 1/4" narrower but the cover art is full size so some of the bottom and right are missing. The ads inside and back cover are scaled correctly to this smaller size so none of them are missing though. There are other differences like the "TORMENT" box, McFarlane's signature box, and other details. The ads have 1990 dates on them but aren't the same ones in the standard gold #1 book. Anyone have any ideas? I first thought it was something someone customized but I don't see or feel where the cover was altered. Next, I began to think that it was a recreation but if so then someone went to a lot of trouble to get many details good but miss the size by so much. I'm out of ideas so what is it? Here it is next to a gold #1
