  1. Jamsessions2014- never paid and bought the same exact book from someone else for 13 dollars cheaper.

I get an invalid id for this one.

figc - Submits a best offer, I accept then never hear from him. International buyer.

avsswolf - Wins an auction for a "hotter" book that begins to cool. Messages me when auction is over that "his son accidentally bid on the book." I reply I'm going to file NPB which I do. He messages me later saying he talked to ebay and they told him to message me to cancel the transaction and not file NPB for a strike. After a few days I close the dispute, receive my fee refund, and he gets a strike. thought I was a dummy. Block him.

    - bid on a lot after playing twenty questions for a few days. no I definitly didn't put any low number Walking Dead into a $15 60 book lot. Didn't pay, won't answer requests,

    escalated, still no answer.

AND I got my first neg in over 16 years from a newbie named Snapper_Carr_forever, who has already changed his id since his first purchase on June 4. Pain in the nether regions, block this guy, he's local here in Htown. Spouts grading advice like a kid.

Yep guy bought from me as well last week and left a bad positive for me as well. I banned him after reading this.

2 guys in one week for me makes think I am starting to get cursed. You guys post them here exactly one week after they buy from me. :tonofbricks:

I read this and then go he has already bought from me.

    :o:o:o:o

He just bought one of my books and it's going in the mail tomorrow.

  3. Does anyone think the market will ever reflect Marvel GN Series 17 as the first appearance of Apocalypse? It seems as if all the cheap copies have dried up on Ebay. Because of the retcon I am hesitant to buy into this one. Same goes for Jessica Jones but that discussion belongs in a different forum I guess.

Might as well go back further to Moon Knight # 1

  4. Not Ebay but what the heck is going on with this CC auction for Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends #1 :o

Already at $101 with 3 days to go ???

A 9.6 sold for $70 in March according to GPA.

Time for me to sell my slabbed 9.8, I guess.

    I can hear the bidders, ">GASP< A Spider-Man comic- and it's a #1! That gotta be a worth a brazillion dollars."

    1st app of Firestorm

    Ahem, Fire-Star. ;)

    You heard it here first!

    :golfclap:

  5. I'm looking for comic mailing boxes. Preferably the rectangular boxes without nubs.

    Any help would be appreciated

What do you mean without nubs?

    This is what I use:

    http://www.uline.com/BL_1301/Kraft-Easy-Fold-Mailers

Are these ok for shipping 1 comic? I've used bubble mailers in the past but checking all my options. Is the mailer enough protection alone, or would I still need to put the comic in a cardboard sandwich, then in the mailer?

  6. What do you guys think of Shazam 28. The prices have been going up monthly. Possible speculation on The Rock playing Black Adam? Low CGC census, is that due to no one caring or low print runs?

If the Rock is announced to play Black Atom, and not Lobo like a lot of ppl are thinking, I think the book will explode. Already selling at a decent price on pure speculation alone. #25 is a nice Shazam key as well to keep an eye out for.

  7. Reviews are starting to come in on this movie. And they are positive.

Is ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ The Best ‘X-Men’ Movie Ever?

Sean O'Connell: Do you know what character is legit great in #xmen? Quicksilver. I'm not joking. He REALLY works! Great scene.

LatinoReview-Kel: Saw X-Men: DOFP & it was really good! In opinion its the best X-Men movie so far but that's just me. It was like Avengers but with Mutants.

Steven Weintraub: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is great. Film finds a way to make both casts work & Quicksilver...wow. His main scene is highlight of the film.

    :)

  8. Nice grade Ryan!

Speaking of Warlock and the Infinity Watch, here are 3 pages I recently acquired from #10, an Infinity War crossover. I've been searching for Thanos pages from this issue for ages, as Angel Medina's hyper-aggressive rendition of Thanos fighting his doppelganger has been etched in my mind for decades! I'd all but given up hope since Medina art from this series, yet alone this issue, is so hard to find... then these 3 beauties turned up :cloud9:

    :headbang:

  9. I watched a raw sell at C2E2 for $90... I was in shock.

    Jim

    :o Wow that's crazy!

I went from booth to booth looking to pick up copies and a few of the dealers threw out $90 at me. I haggled and got about 4-5 copies in VF-VF+ for about $35/40 ea. Watch out for the copies with the "printer defect" small tears at the bottom. And yes, the book continues to rise even as the weeks go by.

  10.

recent BINs over the past week for $34.99 in F/VF and $40 for VF/NM. I'll take that out of any modern book that can be found with a little digging in back issue bins for a couple of bucks.

    I got the $20 BIN :)

I'm buying these all day all that price. Buy low and sell high fellas, 7 more movies to go! Long term hold for me.

  11. from a recent interview on Newsarama with Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and Senior VP, Sales & Marketing David Gabriel about their ‘All-New Marvel NOW!’ initiative:

    http://www.newsarama.com/20643-marvel-s-alonso-gabriel-talk-all-new-now-branding-new-launches-the-reasons-behind-renumbering.html

    Nrama: Onto the ‘#1‘ thing.

Why is Marvel now renumbering/launching titles so (relatively) frequently compared to the past?

Gabriel: We actually spent a lot of time talking about this at our last editorial retreat. People consume their content much differently these days than in the past. Renumbering titles offers us an opportunity to provide readers with an easily digestible chunk of content, not unlike a season of a television show.

Renumbering has its critics, but at end of the day we’re much more focused on making good stories than where they fit in a longbox. If you look at the numbers, books sell better after a relaunch. And even if the numbers eventually settle back to where they were after a year or two – that’s still 2 years of retailers selling more copies and 2 years of more Marvel comics in the hands of fans.

Nrama: You both are aware that while numbers are hard to quantify, as you say David, there are critics of renumbering. So to play “fanboy’s advocate” for a moment, what do you say to the common argument that if the quality of the titles was there, publishers wouldn’t have to renumber in order to boost or maintain sales?

Gabriel: Quality doesn’t always mean big sales numbers. Any publisher will tell you that. Daredevil is a perfect example. Nobody would argue that Mark Waid and Chris Samnee’s title is lacking in quality with all the awards they’ve won. It’s not selling poorly by any means, but relaunching the title for ‘All-New Marvel NOW!’ has almost tripled the numbers on a title that was nearly universally critically acclaimed. And to us, that’s putting a critically acclaimed comic into the hands of more readers.

I get why they think rebooting is a winner but I think they just have less people buying/hoarding more copies of each early issue. I don't in any way believe the are adding new readers. Does anyone ?

Big companies always feel they can produce whatever they want and people will continue buying their products. There has never been a better example of this than the Big 3 automakers. I'm a diehard buy American guy but I saw the writing on the wall 2 decades ago. The big 3 isn't so big anymore and is now the big 5. I believe Image is the new Toyota and Marvel's indifference will not pan out any better than it did for the automakers who had a very similar philosophy.

    +1

They can't look at their customers as $ signs. This can't be a formula for long term sucess.

  12. Yeah he is a good friend that works at the store. Every day he prices comics . They even tell the people that bring in comics that they are not a comic store and you will not get what you could if you sold it to a comic store or ebay so people still sale their issue to the store. He keeps some stuff for himself. i turned down a lowered grade walking dead #1 and told him to keep it. The person that turned in the walking dead got $1.00 for selling it to the store. Unless you have a great friend like he is you just wouldn't get it and no i am not taking advantage of him. To him its just reading material. He even told me that the comics that don't sell get sent to a paper recycling place.

I hear the store doesn't even give store credit, just cash. Do you or your buddy know how much they give for comics? I have some drek that needs a new home :)
