  1. Perhaps. That would probably cost me more than I paid for this book though. Really only put it up to see what others felt and I was somewhere between a 5.0 and 6.0. Think I will just record it as a 5.0 for my records. Still a good deal for the price I paid and a nice enough presenting book for my needs.
  2. It sounds like $1 more was the minimum next step of a bid- though I thought at levels where the price is over 90 bucks, the next step would be 2 or maybe more. They might have bid $100 and it defaults to the 1 buck more. It's when you lose by pennies that you should feel burned by bad luck.
  3. thanks for the opinions. It is pretty nice in hand.
  4. Was pleasantly surprised to see that I did earn ebay bucks for this past quarter despite not going over the $5 mark. The way the changes read, it made me think they weren't putting that into effect until the next quarter. That is great news for those of us small time buyers on ebay. Granted-- the 1% versus 2% still sucks a a little bit but if you time it right and only pay/buy during the 6-8% promotions-- it is not so bad.
  5. true-- might need to call ebay a couple of times until you get someone who understands what the problem with this situation actually is and why you should be made whole. That seller sucks.
  6. might just be in the wrong forum-- this is for comics
  7. 'Murikah as in America Good luck getting ebay to ever side with a seller in the retracted bid situation. If you haven't noticed yet, the buyers are the ones who have all the power in their system. Personally-- I would rather have someone retract a bid than not pay.
  8. maybe we should just leave Steve alone. It is his life - he owes us nothing.
  9. If you withdraw a bid, you are not required (by eBay) to rebid. They can't make you bid again. This is 'Murikah
  10. Send him that picture and ask him if he was thinking about Gwen Stacey at that moment.
  11. I think we had a thread about this before where someone reported having success with using kitty litter and tupperware trays to absorb away the smell. Regardless- you should not have to do this after paying good money for the books. Attic finds or super cheap pickups-- yeah, kitty litter. This case? Send it back and explain why to the seller.
  12. DAREDEVIL 169 2nd Elektra FN 6.0 $6.00 NOW $4.00 see original description on page 3 for details Captain America Special 1 $1.00 now 50 cents daredevil 78 foreign edition - UK $2.00 NOW $1.00 ELEKTRA SAGA 1-2 both 7.0 to 7.5 $2.00 for lot of 2 NOW $1.00 for both
  13. at this point, I would allow the Non-paying buyer action take effect so the bum gets a strike or several strikes perhaps.
  14. Dear Kav, I quit Spiderman in the 1960's. Oops-- I forget to hyphenate that. I just saw the first Spider-man movie-- a long time ago. It is a weird title come to think of it - "a long time ago". I have no interest in comic book characters made into movies or tv series. Though the money I receive in royalties does earn quite a bit of interest, interestingly enough. If I sign, do something for one person who wants something, then I have to do something for everyone who wants some- thing from me. Had you not killed the PIF thread, I might have considered this fair. But you did so I am keeping your envelopes, stamps, and photos. All I can offer you is a restraining order. Regards, Steve Ditko Steve Ditko
  15. very blockable--- Did that feedback with the comments about not paying get added after you already made the deals? (assuming you checked their feedback prior to doing the deals in the first place)
  16. Don't forget to list your ransom demands as well
  17. I think the flag just gets to come along for a ride-- they can't have it flapping around outside the cockpit.
  18. the way he wrote that sentence, I thought he meant a spider-man movie that was made and came out a long time ago. Maybe in the 60s? Maybe I should write him a letter asking to clarify. or Kav can.... don't forget your SASE and picture Kav!
  19. Cool-- that is a great way to think about it-- you certainly are doing something right for sure. I stopped collecting for a long period of time (decades)-- and was not around to witness the copper age or the apparent craziness 1990s. I never planned on getting back into collecting-- just sort of happened and mostly due to this forum a few years ago. But to hear how your collecting/trading/reading morphed over time is very interesting. Mine is sort of stuck in the time I was a kid-- mid to late 1970s. I figure there is enough material there to keep me occupied. I might take a play out of your playbook though and think about how I can use some of my less desired bronze books to fund my current focus.
  20. I am not a fan of the whole 1:500 variant situation in general but I get that some people like that type of stuff. To each their own. The whole setup seems fishy to me. Anyway- the communication from the employees was the main problem. That can happen for a lot of reasons--- rogue employees with the wrong information or even managers not clearly defining how to handle a current situation-- hard to say for sure. I would not dismiss them completely as a place to purchase from based on one incident. If it becomes a trend-- then yeah, they deserve to lose a customer. Poorly managed places lose customers all the time.
  21. that's the number I came up with as well-- which makes the whole idea of half priced books or unloading them in bulk to whoever will take them seem much less wasteful in the long run. I can't imagine having that many books that I have no interest in. My collection is around 1850 books or so and that is more than enough to keep me entertained. Not sure how people get to these 12 long box of drek situations-- other than buying them from someone else who had them. It is a form of drek hot potato I guess.
  22. While your point is certainly valid regarding costs and efforts versus profit, I believe you have counted the shipping cost ebay fee twice in this analysis. Also-- ebay would round up that 3.77 (10% being .377) to 38 cents.
