I was tempted because it looks like a cool book but went with some good old fashioned Kirby FF (felt lucky they were still available). -

I recall sending away cash money for the complete fishing gear set up (rods, reels, hooks, bobbers, lures etc-- even a tackle box-- the number 129 items sticks out in my mind). Never heard back from them at all. They kept my money too. Never tried mail order again. Had a friend with the sea monkeys-- yep, just brine shrimp but if you think about it-- those were sort of cool since they seemingly came to life. Possibly more interesting and I think this was a companion piece to the sea monkeys was the crystals kit (sorry-- not sure what they called it exactly). You would put the powder in the water and crystalline structures would begin to form over time-- with varying colors to them as well. I think half the fun of those ads was reading them as a kid and letting your imagination go wild with what wonders could be had for such a small cost.

I suppose that is entirely possible since no members on CBR report owning a copy either. If you ever do find one, let me know so I can post the image on their website.

oops --- you meant a different volume. They don't have an image of that specific one on CBR either. https://comicbookrealm.com/series/26948/0/harvey-publications-sad-sack-comics-armed-forces-complimentary

There is a picture of it on Comic Book Realm: https://comicbookrealm.com/series/10116/0/harvey-publications-sad-sack-comics

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
01TheDude replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
what issue is the Kirby tribute issue? -
I stumbled across this ebay listing for Stan Lee's story outline to FF 1 (allegedly). Not the original-- just a copy of it. That the guy offers multiple shipping options as if the copy of this needs protection made me chuckle. I saved the images of the pictures they put up (and you can read them easily)--- thought someone might want them here as well. Though I would be surprised if this has not been seen or posted in this thread at some point.

Waiting on hold always takes forever. They do have an option where you ask them to contact you and that seems to go faster.

What's the best comic you need that no one else wants?
01TheDude replied to FineCollector's topic in Comics General
Are we talking about a book you need that no one else apparently wants but that you cannot find? It seems like any book I want I can find but not at a reasonable price. There also seem to be people on ebay who bid on anything they feel is undervalued (or they are simply shills). I'd list mine but they are nothing impossible to find-- just outside my current meager budget. -
Tall and tan and young and lovely The girl from Ipanema goes walking and When she passes, each one she passes goes "ah" ............

My guess is that as soon as Iceman399 placed that bounty on ham's head, it was quite the motivator. -
Of the first 6 Hulk books, I think I like the cover for #5 the most, closely followed by #1
-
nice-- did you have any work done to it prior to grading? press/clean

While I find the tournament fun to both participate and watch, I wonder if we couldn't add a little something to it after we are down to 16 or 8 players. A little side game for the rest of us who are out (and even the surviving contestants)... perhaps a book to grade with a tiebreaker of picking a number from 1-100 or something. Might be kind of fun for next year-- and I only suggest this as little tweak to keep the participation levels up from the earlier rounds. Sorry if this is an old idea or was suggested before. I've seen side games add more fun to the other contests here.

New eBayer placing a ton of bids on my auction...what to do?
01TheDude replied to Inhuman Fiend's topic in Comics General
That's cool and I wish you well. The more I think about it though, the more I think you should cancel their bids and block them. Yeah- 2 bids is nothing out of the ordinary-- someone bid on an item and then adds another bid at a higher number to make sure they don't lose out with a short position. Three bids with no other action is a red flag to me saying this person is up to something. You have 17 red flags under that scenario.
