  1. Add this guy:

    heisenberg00000

Sold him a Booster Gold 1. Packaged it the same way I do every other comic. Arrived (according to him) folded in half by USPS.

OK, mess happens. Instantly offered him a refund.

Don't hear from him for four days, and just now got a neg dropped on me.

Frankly it isn't worth the aggravation. Yes, your book was damaged, but (a) it wasn't my fault and (b) I offered you a full refund no questions asked. Whatever.

Checked this guy out myself just for fun--- and noticed you were not the only one getting dinged with a book folded in half negative feedback from him-- well the other person got neutral but still.

  2. He sent this to my personal email Kav... which he had since he requested the scan of the wrong book to be sent to his home email account.

    Pretty sneaky of him.

Next time you should tell them you'll send a link to a scan using the eBay contact system....that way they don't get your home email account and eBay would have a record of it.

you can set up your Ebay account to always provide the buyers email information when they win an auction or buy something. I have that setup on mine. google the concept and it will give you directions-- i set it up for my accounts a long time ago and forget exactly where in the settings you set this up. But anytime someone buys something, I get their phone number as well as their email addy automatically.

  3. I still have a handful of loose stamps. Maybe 20-30

I hung on to mine also-- from both series (ugh) If someone needs a Galactus-- let me know.

it did come in handy when I was going through and regrading my books using the MVS list and the stamps I had to find out which books I must have taken them from. I made sure to note the missing and present stamps with a post it on the back of the backing board in each bag. Also in the notes section on the online site I used to inventory.

And the worse part of this is in some cases you were removing a stamp that had actual story on the other side. Not sure if it was me or someone I traded books with but I have numerous MVS missing books where the stamp was ripped out leaving an ugly mess behind, others are neatly clipped out. Not sure if it mattered but I noted that too. Might as well be completely honest about such a stupid move with myself and anyone perusing my books someday.

  4. Those drawings were similar to the ones Ward saw in that Russian(?) facility, where he was wearing those glasses to fill in for Coulson's former student who had one of those exploding eyes(Episode 4):

I have to re-watch the episode, but was the Clairvoyant's mission for her to take a photo of that wall?

kind of reminded me of the plans sent in the movie Contact

or a diagram of a circuit board. maybe even a complicated flow chart

they could be directions or a machine design. not sure

    ......................

I too was sick of the goofy school boy crush and him acting like a scared boy afraid to tell her how he felt. If I am stuck at the bottom of the ocean with her, my first thought after thinking we are dead is probably "hey, might as well try to hit that"

  5. Ward is Hydra no doubt-- but it is still possible that Hand was simply unconscious and bleeding, His tracking badge was still working when Skye tried to track him down, When she took off her badge earlier in the show, she disappeared from his tracking screen-- so the badge is tied to a heartbeat or body temperature at the very least. Could be dead or alive-- window is still open in my book, Probably not a super important point though unless you want to see more Patton Oswald on the show -- which I wouldn't mind.

or do I have that tracking thing wrong?

  6.

not sure but that just says the bidding ended--- here is a link to the item from the sold side if you want to see the bidding (no need for anyone else to have to search for the thing like I did).....

  7. hope it wasn't mine from being a stupid kid--- I have the Shanna She Devil Stamp (god I was so dumb)

Speaking of which--- as I go through my collection and reinventory it, I am reviewing the grading to CGC standards and also checking for internal flaws like missing coupons and Marvel Stamps.

Is it correct for me to automatically drop a book to 1.8 grade if the stamp/coupon is missing, regardless of the condition otherwise?

  8. the more I read on the subject the more I have come to the conclusion that most of the industry was not worried about the collecting as much as the consumption of comics. So to the people who put out this silly and disastrous (hey kid-- play with these matches!) programs-- it was geared toward making it fun. I suppose I did have fun collecting the stamps-- and at that point wasn't really concerned about maintaining the health of my collection.

the focus shifted at some point during the 70s and 80s to be more collector centric (something Chuck Rozanski alludes to in his Mile High blog). It might make the SA and BA books that much more valuable in the long run and explain why the massive number of books in the 90s are almost all worthless. I wasn't really around the hobby during that time but it seems like the general opinion.

I don't know-- I only actively collected for a short period of time--- 1975 to 1980ish. Once the books went to 40 cents-- I was out of it-- I was delivering newspapers during that time as well so it might have just been tied to that (and sports taking over my free time). Now I simply like to maintain what I have and am satisfied with that pursuit.

  9. I remember clipping a few of them at the start, then after looking at the gaping holes in my books, I figuratively slapped myself and stopped doing it.

how old were you and how long had you been collecting? I think that has something to do with it. I was 10 or 11 and only in it for a year

  10. I realize the damage was done as soon as they were cut out of the book-- but if you have the exact stamp for the book, does that take any of the sting off of the damage?

I'm not referring to restoration or repair

I have decided to stop beating myself up for this behavior and thankfully I wasn't diligent on cleaving all the stamps out of my books (or coupons for stuff marvel sold)- and treat it more less as the cost of playing with my toys.

What is weird is that at the time I only considered the cover as being the important part of the book (I was 10-14 years old). I have also figured out the key issue that got me on the MVS harvesting kick--- Astonishing Tales #25-- my copy was cover-less (i.e. worthless), just for reading (found it at a garage sale probably). If you know the book-- the very last page had a Value Stamp on it screaming at you to clip it out. Hit and miss on the damage though-- I have AT23-27 and only two of the stamps were taken out. Somewhere in my boxes, I have the MVS, as if they were somehow something important to my younger self. I just feel bad that I ruined so many comic books (especially the Hulk 181-- which some adult collector basically stole from me later on). Maybe that was Marvel's plan all along.

    Red Sonja 8, series 1

It seems flawless to me, save a little concern over the lower staple pinching (?) -- which is amazing considering I bought this from a 7-11 rack as a kid. I may have just bagged this as soon as I got home without opening it. W-OW pages.

I read the first 40 or so pages of this thread and felt like sharing this copy with you guys who might appreciate it-- I used to buy everything I could whenever I made the trek to the old 7-11 on my bike back in my Chicago days as a kid. I have several more of these, but was so mad at myself for cutting out the coupon in the back of the dang Marvel Feature #1.It's wierd that I didn't read some of these because I used t always buy up the Conan graphic mags-- and enjoy those stories.....but I have a couple of the RS that appear untouched

  12. COUNT ME IN - nothing special in terms of condition

bought this from the rack at 7-11 with my paper route money, along with a Slurpee no doubt. Just your average 10 year old baller (lol).
